Wordlwide, the castlevania series is very well known for it's music. With no risk of exaggeration, the castlevania series are at any top list of best gaming music in existance. Bloodstained is trying to recreate the same feel and play of Igavania games, and that means a killer music score. With Ippo Yamada, composer of Megaman Zero, among other titles and Michiru Yamane, main composer of most Castlevania titles, Bloodstained may achieve the same legendary status of Igavania games regarding music. Many players agree that one of the things they expect most in a new Igavania, was the soundtrack. Each new area had the same excitment of "how the soundtrack of this particular area will be?". It's hard to talk about Bloodstained's soundtrack, without posting a bit of music of the game itself and how that can be compared with some of the best songs from other Igavania titles. BLOODSTAINED MUSIC
THEME OF BLOODSTAINED (TITLE SCREEN)
As the first music we all heard from Bloodstained, it's a beautiful and unique piece. It resembles a mix of many Igavania songs, as if Michiru intended to make a huge tribute to the series of the past and open up the doors to the present.
CURSED ORPHAN (USAGE UNKNOWN) This music had a first version and a second version (hidden at the Demo files), the one above. With more bell sounds and a higher number of instruments, it's a composition by Yamada that sounds like something to fit an epic Boss Battle or some fast-paced scenario. VOYAGE OF PROMISE (GALLEON MINERVA)The first scenario music we ever heard from Bloodstained, the song that plays during Galleon Minerva's voyage to Gebel's castle. Without a doubt, this song has a lot of references to other Castlevanias. It's not hard to hear pieces of other games, such as Curse of Darkness, Dawn of Sorrow and such. Michiru said that she wanted to give the vibe of "the beginning of a great adventure". I believe she managed to do just that. VEPAR BOSS MUSIC (NO OFFICIAL NAME YET)This song screams "Castlevania" all over the place. A major piece with an epic and grandiose style, that matches perfectly Vepar's menace. LUXURIOUS OVERTURE (ENTRANCE (can be Miriam's theme))The most beautiful song of the game so far, in my opinion. Michiru half-confirmed that this piece is for the Castle's entrance, that, traditionally has the main character's theme song as music. We can speculate that this may be Miriam's theme song. Either way, it's a beautiful piece that creates that hype of "this is just the beginning!". The flute in the background makes me think how awesome would it be if we could see a flute-playing creature in the background... HOLY WISDOM (CHURCH OF DIAN CECHT)Organs, piano, echoes. The classic church music returns to Bloodstained in a great style. A small part of it remembers, for some odd reason, Donkey Kong Country 2 (1:01) and that is a great reference. BLOODLESS BOSS THEME (NO OFFICIAL NAME YET)Unfortunately, we can't hear Bloodless theme by itself yet, so, we have to use gameplay videos to hear the song. Either way, it's a nice music, with a more modern rock/heavy vibe and some lyric singing. I wonder why Vepar and Bloodless have different boss music.
Regarding Bloodstained soundtrack, how Igavania games was regarding music and other things, let's talk a bit about what do expect regarding music in Bloodstained. Specially these questions:
1) Vepar and Bloodless have different boss themes. Why? Maybe the game will have two (or more) boss themes depending on the Boss style? Or maybe each Boss will have it's own theme (i find that hard to believe)?
2) Symphony of the Night had one unique song for each area of the game in the first castle, but in the second, many areas have the same music. It sounds like they didn't had time or resources to create one music per area for the second castle. Bloodstained is promised to be the biggest game IGA ever made. We all would love to have one piece for each area, but we know that this is time and resource consuming. Would you "accept" if the game have to reuse some songs like Symphony of the Night did with it's second castle (and as Harmony of Dissonance did with all it's second castle)?
3) In a interview, Michiru Yamane said that Lament of Innocence's soundtrack was composed without using electric guitar, to give the game a more "old vibe" since it's plot is from a really old time. Many Igavanias had different styles of music, going from heavy metal / hard rock to more lyrical and classical tones, even touching the goofy and weird territory. What do you expect for Bloodstained? A more unified theme or something more varied, mixing several styles?
4) Where do you think Cursed Orphan will be used? Scenario (what kind of scenario)? Boss (what kind of Boss)? Or something else?
5) Do you consider Luxurious Overture as Miriam's official theme? Or something else? Or Miriam's theme is yet to be heard? Or something like that (character's theme) will not exist?
6) Six 8-bit song was achieved at Kickstarter. Do you want these musics to be officialy at the game, as scenario music or do you want them to be optional pieces that you can hear? (Such as 8-bit Vynil disk items in Portrait of Ruin).
7) Do you expect the Classic Mode (six or more punishing stages using game's assets with a old-school hardcore gameplay) to have it's own soundtrack? Or just to reuse the main game's songs?
8) Post one or more Igavania's music (or ANY music from Castlevania, be it created by IGA or not) that you would like to see something close at Bloodstained!
That's all folks!

- I think it would be fantastic to see each boss get its own music, but it might not be feasible given that this is also supposed to be IGA's largest castle, indicating a potentially larger soundtrack overall. More likely would be that Bloodless is a special character(some characters have gotten their own fight music in the past) or that there's varying music depending on how plot relevant the fight is.
- On the assumption that we aren't getting a scenario similar to SotN where the last half of the game was just the first half from a different angle, I think that a better approach(if we're looking at limiting sound tracks) would be to have larger areas. That said, there are plenty of games that have had large soundtracks, so it's probably better to hope that such is the case here.
- I don't really have any expectations, but I think that given the game's status as a spiritual successor, it might be nice to have styles that cover all of her work with IGA to date. That said, I always found SotN to be my favorite Castlevania OST to her credit(it ties with Castlevania IV for favorite overall), so I'd love to see something along that lines here.
- Definitely a bell tower fight, and if it's a boss, I'm thinking something that requires a lot of movement on Miriam's part. Something projectile heavy.
- Luxurious Overture sounds more like a level theme than a character theme. It could be that Miriam's theme is incorporated into the melody, but there's too much movement in the song, where I feel that Miriam is more of a sit and sip wine sort of character.
- I was kind of assuming that the 8-bit music would be tied into Classic Mode
- See above
- Some of my favorite Castlevania IV songs that might be interesting styles for Bloodstained(there are a few of them... did I mention it was one of my two favorite Castlevania soundtracks?):

1) Vepar and Bloodless have different boss themes. Why? Maybe the game will have two (or more) boss themes depending on the Boss style? Or maybe each Boss will have it's own theme (i find that hard to believe)?I have no clue maybe it’s still in the works what they will do it’s to early to tell really. 2) Symphony of the Night had one unique song for each area of the game in the first castle, but in the second, many areas have the same music. It sounds like they didn't had time or resources to create one music per area for the second castle. Bloodstained is promised to be the biggest game IGA ever made. Would you "accept" if the game have to reuse some songs like Symphony of the Night did with it's second castle (and as Harmony of Dissonance did with all it's second castle)? It would not bother me really but I feel like that may not be a problem this time around. 3) In a interview, Michiru Yamane said that Lament of Innocence's soundtrack was composed without using electric guitar, to give the game a more "old vibe" since it's plot is from a really old time. Many Igavanias had different styles of music, going from heavy metal / hard rock to more lyrical and classical tones, even touching the goofy and weird territory. What do you expect for Bloodstained? A more unified theme or something more varied, mixing several styles?I expect multiple styles so far I get vibes from a lot of the games ranging from classic to curse of darkness.4) Where do you think Cursed Orphan will be used? Scenario (what kind of scenario)? Boss (what kind of Boss)? Or something else?It reminds me of so maybe general mini boss battle or maybe just one specific boss.5) Do you consider Luxurious Overture as Miriam's official theme? Or something else? Or Miriam's theme is yet to be heard? Or something like that (character's theme) will not exist? I think maybe it is just the entrance I think Miriam may have a specific theme placed during emotional character development moments. 6) Six 8-bit song was achieved at Kickstarter. Do you want these musics to be officialy at the game, as scenario music or do you want them to be optional pieces that you can hear? (Such as 8-bit Vynil disk items in Portrait of Ruin). Either or suite me fine.7) Do you expect the Classic Mode (six or more punishing stages using game's assets with a old-school hardcore gameplay) to have it's own soundtrack? Or just to reuse the main game's songs? I personally would not be bothered what ever way they go, but more music is always awesome. 8) Post one or more Igavania's music (or ANY music from Castlevania, be it created by IGA or not) that you would like to see something close at Bloodstained!Song styles I would like to hear;

1) Vepar and Bloodless have different boss themes. Why? Maybe the game will have two (or more) boss themes depending on the Boss style? Or maybe each Boss will have it's own theme (i find that hard to believe)? I always expected several different boss themes. They should then for each boss use the theme that most suits the character of your enemy. I'd also like to have some one-off themes for story-bosses.
It would be a shame if Bloodstained had to reuse songs because I think the songs should closely represent the area they are played in. If they reuse songs, they will have to compose generic music that suits multiple areas. This will have a boring soundtrack as a result. If they reuse stuff, they should do it the Harmony of Dissonance-way, in which the same track was used in the "mirrored" area. That way, you'd still get a variety of songs while playing for an hour instead of going through long stretches of the castle and just hearing the same thing over and over again. If they absolutely must reuse the same song for multiple areas, they should not restart the song whenever you change the area. That was a bad design choice in SotN as often we would only get to hear the beginning over and over again of what was a pretty long song.
I prefer the variety. Also, I think that a big portion of LoI's soundtrack sounded pretty modern due to the use of electronics and drum machines.
4) Where do you think Cursed Orphan will be used? Scenario (what kind of scenario)? Boss (what kind of Boss)? Or something else? I don't know if it will be used at all since inti creates isn't involved with Bloodstained anymore.
5) Do you consider Luxurious Overture as Miriam's official theme? Or something else? Or Miriam's theme is yet to be heard? Or something like that (character's theme) will not exist? I always considered Theme of Bloodstained to be Miriam's theme as well since she is the first heroine of the franchise and it is the first song of it.
6) Six 8-bit song was achieved at Kickstarter. Do you want these musics to be officialy at the game, as scenario music or do you want them to be optional pieces that you can hear? (Such as 8-bit Vynil disk items in Portrait of Ruin). These are going to be used in classic mode. Here's a quote: "These songs will be new compositions -- not remixes -- which should complement each of the six Classic Mode stages quite nicely." /posts/1238140
7) Do you expect the Classic Mode (six or more punishing stages using game's assets with a old-school hardcore gameplay) to have it's own soundtrack? Or just to reuse the main game's songs? See 6)
8) Post one or more Igavania's music (or ANY music from Castlevania, be it created by IGA or not) that you would like to see something close at Bloodstained! Composition-wise I'd like something like Subterranean Hell from DoS. I think it is a really interesting piece. Everything in it feels like water to me, the wavelike rhythm, the used instruments, the general mood of the melodies. I also think that it was brilliant in regards of using three odd time signatures without really being too noticable if you don't count it out. It made these time signature changes feel really natural. Speaking of cool water themes - another favourite of mine is Wandering the crystal blue from OoE's soundtrack. I think it might be the most soothing and beautiful level composition in Castlevanias that I have heard. I liked going to the somnus reef just to hear this song and relax. Sound-wise I always liked the soundtrack of Curse of Darkness best so it would be fantastic if they aimed for something like that. Also, it has some amazing kickass fighting-music! When it comes to boss music, something like Into the dark night from DoS would be my favoured direction to go into.

Another fine thread from Pure Miriam making me feel compelled to answer! And so I shall... with green text!!!1) Vepar and Bloodless have different boss themes. Why? Maybe the game will have two (or more) boss themes depending on the Boss style? Or maybe each Boss will have it's own theme (i find that hard to believe)?
I imagine for the same reason that a past game like Dawn of Sorrow had four different Boss themes ( not counting the two Final Boss themes). I predict that early-game and maybe a couple mid-game Bosses will all share a theme; the human Bosses will share another (yes, I'm also predicting Zangetsu will be a Boss that Miriam will have to face); most of the remaining Bosses will share a third theme; and then the fourth & final Boss theme will likely be used by two [or three] penultimate Bosses to face just before the Final Boss.(Used for Flying Armor, Balore, Malphas, Rahab, & Bat Company Bosses) (Used for Dmitrii Blinov & Dario Bossi Bosses) (Used for Puppet Master, Gergoth, Zephyr, & Paranoia Bosses) (Used for Aguni, Death, & Abaddon Bosses) (Used for Menace; True Final Boss) (Used for Soma Cruz/"Neo Dracula"; Alternative Final Boss ~ Julius Mode) 2) Symphony of the Night had one unique song for each area of the game in the first castle, but in the second, many areas have the same music.
That's assuming this game will even have a "2nd Castle" of-sorts in the works for the base-game. I know the developers have got some sort of surprise up their sleeve, but I don't expect to hear the same music track for more than one separate area of this Biggest Castle of 1,600+ Rooms. ^ Either way, I don't see myself being disappointed.3) In a interview, Michiru Yamane said that Lament of Innocence's soundtrack was composed without using electric guitar, to give the game a more "old vibe" since it's plot is from a really old time. Many Igavanias had different styles of music, going from heavy metal / hard rock to more lyrical and classical tones, even touching the goofy and weird territory. What do you expect for Bloodstained? A more unified theme or something more varied, mixing several styles?
Mixing several styles. Yamane, Yamada, & Virt will all add some unique flair to each mode of this game.4) Where do you think Cursed Orphan will be used? Scenario (what kind of scenario)? Boss (what kind of Boss)? Or something else?
I actually expect it to be used in a Bell Tower portion of the Castle (that's the kind of area I said I wanted to see in certain past threads). If not? How about in Boss Rush Mode? 5) Do you consider Luxurious Overture as Miriam's official theme? Or something else? Or Miriam's theme is yet to be heard? Or something like that (character's theme) will not exist?
Absolutely. I especially love it because it reminds me of another song from the early '90s.6) Six 8-bit song was achieved at Kickstarter. Do you want these musics to be officialy at the game, as scenario music or do you want them to be optional pieces that you can hear? (Such as 8-bit Vynil disk items in Portrait of Ruin)
I had already known that the six 8-bit songs revealed by the Kickstarter campaign were intended for Classic Mode, but if we have a choice, I'd like an unlockable sound option in Story Mode that allows us to listen to the themes while adventuring.7) Do you expect the Classic Mode (six or more punishing stages using game's assets with a old-school hardcore gameplay) to have it's own soundtrack? Or just to reuse the main game's songs?
See Answer to Question #6. 8) Post one or more Igavania's music (or ANY music from Castlevania, be it created by IGA or not) that you would like to see something close at Bloodstained!
I'd love to see Yamane, Yamada, & even Virt take some inspiration from any of the following for a few tracks, really.
(This one certainly feels appropriate to draw some inspiration from, considering the time period Bloodstained is set in; 1783, during the beginning of the Industrial Revolution)

Is Ippo Yamada even contributing to the soundtrack anymore, or after the campaign? So far as any of us can claim to know, without asking Angel-Corlux about it; I'd definitely say not anymore, at least not the main game. Since Ippo Yamada is part of Inti-Creates, he must now be involved only in working on the Prequel Mini-Game. As you implied, he did initially contribute to the main game during the Kickstarter campaign (as the rest of Inti-Creates did; but no longer does), so we can easily still count him as a contributor to Bloodstained's soundtrack.

I'm willing to bet both is in the works, but Vepar and Bloodless's music are not unique themes.
Major character bosses like Gebel, Zangetsu(If we fight him) and perhaps the final boss will get individual themes. lesser bosses outside and within throughout the castle will likely get their own theme to use for the bunch.

Galamoth Hey there friend, yeah I can understand the confusion, just another nebulous misunderstanding of the Inti/DICO shift, c'est la vie...
Basically it's true that Yamada-san as a member of IntiCreates is no longer involved in the development of the main game, but it's also true that his contributions to the project got "locked in", so to speak, a long time ago. So the end result is really the same, the team has all the music from him they need, and now they're just hard at work putting everything together. Hope that answers that question and puts some minds at ease at least about this particular topic.

1) Vepar and Bloodless have different boss themes. Why? I think the music is spread out as to what kind of personally the enemy has. An enemy which were your friend might have a sad song for example. And so on.2) Would you "accept" if the game have to reuse some songs like Symphony of the Night did with it's second castle (and as Harmony of Dissonance did with all it's second castle)? Sure. If it fits - it fits! I really see no issue with reusing the music. I hope we get enough tracks however to really have a wider range of the music.3) What do you expect for Bloodstained? A more unified theme or something more varied, mixing several styles? I expect a wide arrange of music, mostly because the nature of Alchemy and that combinations are key for progress in that line of "work". If could use synth, guitars, celtic, harps etc. I see no issue unless it is too digital like all those dance remixes.4) Where do you think Cursed Orphan will be used? Scenario (what kind of scenario)? Boss (what kind of Boss)? Or something else? Final battle / End Credits5) Do you consider Luxurious Overture as Miriam's official theme? The one where she "starts her journey" (at the castle entrance). It might be the most recognized songs in general public if done correctly.
"The Entrance was a very beautiful place as well, but I was inspired by the fountain, the chandelier, and all the sparkly decoration to compose a track that sympathizes with Miriam's sad and cruel fate."6) Six 8-bit song was achieved at Kickstarter. Do you want these musics to be officialy at the game, as scenario music or do you want them to be optional pieces that you can hear? (Such as 8-bit Vynil disk items in Portrait of Ruin). Find them, unlock them, and replace them whenever if you wanna hear them as 8-bit. I do however think all those 8-bit ones are for the prequel. But I have no confirmation since it really is all confusing due to early kickstarter days.7) Do you expect the Classic Mode (six or more punishing stages using game's assets with a old-school hardcore gameplay) to have it's own soundtrack? Or just to reuse the main game's songs? Reused. Thanks for the thread

1) Vepar and Bloodless have different boss themes. Why?
It's common for different IGAvania bosses to have different themes. Not so much -every- boss with a different one, but say...2-4 bosses per song with some being unique. Vepar and Bloodless' songs don't strike me as unique, but maybe the latter?
2) Would you "accept" if the game have to reuse some songs like Symphony of the Night did with it's second castle (and as Harmony of Dissonance did with all it's second castle)?
So long as it mixes the variety more. I felt like I heard Final Toccata too much, which while foreboding didn't have much of the Igavania energy to it. They could shift around where the songs are used to alleviate that feeling.
3) What do you expect for Bloodstained? A more unified theme or something more varied, mixing several styles?
Basically what Enkeria said, I expect and hope for a variety of styles similar to SotN. I more or less like the rock-y CV tracks the most, but the variety of some tracks like Wandering Ghosts, Anti-Soul Mysteries Lab, Hail from the Past, etc are favorites too.
4) Where do you think Cursed Orphan will be used? Scenario (what kind of scenario)? Boss (what kind of Boss)? Or something else?
I've never been able to quite figure that out, I sometimes bring up this question myself. Maybe boss rush mode? It's a bit too aggressive for a stage.
5) Do you consider Luxurious Overture as Miriam's official theme?
That song is the "fancy pants castle area" song to me, not so much Miriam's haha. I think it has been described as such already. A few songs have an equal shot at being her theme so far, or none of them, or she may not have an official one.
6) Six 8-bit song was achieved at Kickstarter. Do you want these musics to be officialy at the game, as scenario music or do you want them to be optional pieces that you can hear? (Such as 8-bit Vynil disk items in Portrait of Ruin).
Those are for Classic Mode and the prequel game, pretty sure.
