I just wanted to post a link to a couple of hacks that I have been involved in.
Castlevania Call of Chaos: This story puts you in control of Dracula (Soma) freshly resurrected from the Underworld. You must discover who has stolen his power. The story/dialogue has been rewritten, but the game play remains the same. Attempted to make it believable within the Castlevania canon.

Castlevania Reaper's Reckoning: The game starts with Death (Soma) being summoned to the Castle to locate Dracula’s powers. The characters names and sprites have been colored to adapt to the new story: Soma = Death, Mina = Carmilla, Hammer = Shaft, Graham = Olrox, Julius = Belmont. And being the Grim Reaper, Death starts with his equipment that would normally be obtained on hard mode.

Serio's Castlevania Fighter: This is a fan game running on a mugen engine that pits your favorite Castlevania Characters against each other as well as bosses from multiple different Castlevania titles. They all have their specific moves from each game. You can play co-op! Soma and Julius, Yoko and HAMMER (HAMMER IS A BEAST), Juste and Maxim, check. Nathan and Hugh, yup. Shanoa and Albus, Alucard, Maria, Richter, yup. Stella and Loretta, Johnathan and Charlotte, Duke Nukem and Ronald McDonald, (you read that right) you bet. You can configure a controller to work with it. Just click a character to see their moves.

Super Mario Bros. Crossover 3: Simon is playable, so this technically works. It is the original Mario Bros. Game but with multiple original nintendo characters and their moves. Mario, Luigi, Link, Samus, Megaman, Ninja Gaiden, Simon, Lance Bean (Contra). I feel like I'm missing some, but this is amazing!
