OMG I feel freaking old now.... lol tell me about it. How could this have been TWENTY years ago? I just started playing a game again this week that told me I hadn't played it since August 2016. I thought I had just put it down for a few months. Time needs to chill out.
sleyer, Scars Unseen and everyone else, today's the last day to get entries in! A simple "count me in" post won't really cut it, be sure to put some thought into your responses. It doesn't have to be long per se, just something as sincere and personal as you're comfortable making it. I'm thinking it will be semi-random, but I'm reading everything.

I feel like I've typed my SotN experiences on this forum before. I will, however, add some SotN infos that are pertinent to me and my experience with the game. 1) I bought a PlayStation specifically for SotN. (I picked up FFVII while I was at the KB Toy Store as well, but my trip to the store was for a PS and SotN.) and 2) I have a lot of memories of playing SotN with my wife. We got married in December of 1997. We had been together (and playing video games together) for a couple years before that. Apparently I played a lot of SotN when I first got the game. My wife watched at first due to it being a single-player game. She got interested pretty quickly. She started her own file and decided that she wanted to collect every drop from every enemy and max out all of the familiars. She maxed out the gameplay clock in the process. A funny thing that happened just the other day is that a couple of my kids were shocked when my wife was able to answer questions about SotN in great detail. They just couldn't believe she knew so much about the game. I explained to them that that is what happens when you max out the in-game clock. They were astounded. This makes me realize, 3) 1997 was a good year for me. Graduated from high school. Started college. Got married. SotN released. We all know which of those is the most important.

10/02/1997 was Castlevania: Symphony of the Night's release in North America.
I think it is more than a mere coincidence that we saw Mana's art revealed yesterday on this fateful day and anniversary, a piece given which evokes a familiar feel and aesthetic while being a completely new and beautiful style. A celebration, but a clear moving forward - and that is what we are all about as a whole, here. That is the essence of Bloodstained - fans, creators, and fans who become creators like Mana herself pushing their efforts, time and support forward for what they love and the game they believe in.
A cornerstone for that belief being built, SotN will always be revered for what it was, what it is and what it means to us. I would invite everyone here to share their thoughts and stories about the game, how they came upon it, what they felt while playing it, and any other impactful memories you have of the experience. What of that do you already see reflected in Bloodstained, and what do you hope to see?
Also yesterday, our forum hit over 2000 registered members. We are celebrating this as well!
Originally, I was thinking I would pick one respondent out and send them something of Symphony, but honoring the game, us, and Iga-san more I think, I will instead give that person a $60 tier of their choice or an equivalent amount of Fangamer/Sanshee items (shirts, buttons, stickers) of their choosing. This will be open for a week, until 10/10.
Lastly, don't forget to vote in the poll for Mana's artwork here!: bloodstainedfanforums.com/thread/2647/operation-art-legacy
edit: It has been pointed out that international shipping costs can run very high. I'm aware of that, but it doesn't necessarily exclude international members from receiving a prize. Depending on what the winner wants, we could still do $60 digital, two $28 digitals, or the combined cost of Fangamer/Sanshee merch + shipping that rounds close to $60. Depending on the winner/situation, I might be willing to work something out, too. Don't worry about it for now! I would love a copy since I haven't been able to buy one yet.

When I was a kid we had Castlevania 1 and 2 on the NES. They were fun, and I definitely enjoyed the music, but I wasn't in love with them, so I ignored the series for several years. I was reintroduced to the series when I happened to buy Dawn of Sorrow for the DS. I was blown away and really drawn in by the graphics, music, and gameplay. So it wasn't too long before I searched out some more games, including SotN.
I could see why it revolutionized the series. Even after playing later games in the series which were in some ways more refined, SotN definitely stands on its own through the test of time as a great game. I love any time equipment changes the way your character looks, so the cloaks were great. The transformations were really intriguing too, and pretty different from what I'd seen in other games.
I was sad to see similar Castlevania games no longer being made, especially after how much I loved the 3 on the DS. I'm very excited for Bloodstained and I'm pumped to hear that there's a lot going into this game, mechanically and aesthetically. I think it's a format that will work very well with all the added depth we can get, in addition to how great it already is. The DS Castlevanias were some of the few games I enjoyed enough to 100%, and I really like the way there isn't too much grinding involved in doing so.
The demo for Bloodstained was pretty fun and I'm optimistic!

Congratulations to lovelydumpling ! You're our winner! Thank you everybody for your responses. It was really touching to me reading through all of them, especially those that mention your brothers playing with you. My brother was who got me into games, myself. I miss those days. As far as being scared by something, those pits in NES Metal Gear would make me crawl under the bed...lol So many cool stories of family, gaming memories, "OKAY I GUESS I'll try this SotN game" stories, anticipation for Bloodstained...good stuff to all. I kinda hate choosing a single winner, so I might have to pass on something extra to a few others who didn't quite make it.
