This subject may have been touched upon in a couple of threads but never properly discussed. While I was never a fan of Virtual Pets (those awful, fiddly key chain games) , the idea of Miriam having a pet appeals to me. Now, I know what you're probably thinking ... that's what familiars are for! However, the kind of pet I have in mind though is one that eventually becomes a companion of considerable power and strength. The friend who'll appear in Miriam's darkest hours. The loyal pet that succeeds where familiars fail. Why would this be? That is because the pet that Miriam obtains is as only as good as how the owner nurtures it. Yes, you could feed the pet with beef, health potions, etc but also infuse shard power into it as well. Depending on the shards zapped into it, the pet would grow with the abilities of certain enemies and/or a particular dislike for them. The pet gradually becomes a character itself and even (or ultimately) a playable one at that. An extension/part of Miriam's soul. What do you think of such an idea? Good or bad? If good, what animal/creature would you choose? I'd like to add that while it's too late to be put into Bloodstained, it could be an addition to Bloodstained 2

I don't think it would work very well in the game, but I've actually tried implementing a pet familiar system here in the forums. It was too buggy to green light though. Plus, cleaning up familiars poops was weird.

I'd like to add that while it's too late to be put into Bloodstained, it could be an addition to Bloodstained 2 I also believe that a pet wouldn't work well considering how Bloodstained was created and conceived, but that would be a very good idea for a Bloodstained 2. I was thinking some time ago, about what kind of magic / power system a new Bloodstained could have. IGA became famous for trying to implement a different magic / power system at each of his games. Even when he copy/pasted (such as Aria and Dawn of Sorrow) they had differences. Imagine if in a potential Bloodstained 2, the main character IS NOT cursed with the magi-curse. He/She is a demon hunter with prowess and skills obtained during his/her demon hunter training. One day he/she found an animal, a dog, with the magi-curse and thus, it is discovered that the dead alchemist guild also tried to create beacons to attract demons using animals. Not really a dog anymore, but more like a crystalized hellhound, the demon hunter decides to restrict his will to eliminate all demon-related creatures and train this dog to be his/her companion. During your adventure, you may find other magi-cursed animals. Each one with special abilities, magic and slots where magic / shards / whatever may be infused to mutate them and give them new powers. That would sure be interesting.

Pets are reserved for other characters. Technically, Miriam might summon a thing or two that would act like pets. I doubt it however.

I'm thinking of a pet that, potentially, possesses a wealth of abilities, moves and powers that's on a par with Miriam's. To put it another way, it'd be similar to how Charlotte and Jonathan team up in Portrait of Ruin ... that they can switch or combine. Heck, if Miriam can have her own room and add items and furniture to it, then I'm sure that adding powers and moves can be done with a pet

Pet...im thinking no, unless it was story related.
Hear me out. A pet implies humanity. A connection to the natural world. I can she her fondness for a pet to be something the story touches upon, but not as an element to take with her into the castle.

Sadness goes in hand when traversing a huge castle laced with evil All adds to the flavour. Even if the pet eventually dies, the spirit doesn't... To quote Obi Wan Kenobi " If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine"
