estebant The issue isn't really so much with the material of the update itself. It's with managing people's expectations, especially regarding rumors. Right now, the current update already said that the developers are harder at work developing the game, so there hasn't been nearly as much focus on providing updates. Speaking of "soon", though... As I already mentioned, TGS is coming up later this month.

but guys I think most people that enjoy subbed games/anime don't speak Japanese either haha. I certainly don't I even watch US stuff with subs/CC on whenever possible because I don't want to miss anything. Might be a habit from Metal Gear Solid or something. I didn't realize everyone watches subbed games and subbed anime Don't make this into something it's not. I'm not saying people shouldn't be excited for this, I'm not even making the same exact point as Estebant, I tried to actually put a lot of it on me at the end of what I wrote. I'm saying not everyone follows japanese voice actors or watches subbed entertainment. So it's angled in one sphere that is clearly not going to excite everyone like an update about a feature might or plans in the upcoming future or ....anything along those lines. As I said, this wouldn't have been an issue if both voice casts were announced at once. If the American cast isn't done yet, I would say this would have made a fine update when it is finished so they could have excited MORE people at once. So knowing how I am as a person, my excitement built for something that is not even within my hemisphere. Good for the people that it is for though!

Angel-Corlux Can we at least get to hear some lines? Right now it just looks like someone got a list of names and spent 15 minutes adding pictures.

Well, to be fair, everyone should know by now who else is providing voice-work for this game. (And I'm saying "should" lightly, because not everyone actually goes back to check much earlier KS updates) David Hayter (Gebel) & Robbie Belgrade are already on-board as English voice actors since the very beginning of the campaign. estebant I'm not denying that updates are part of the work. I'm just stating the origin of the problem of expecting an "Alpha". Besides, Angel is technically the "brand owner". Mana's the community manager.

Those are the only two we know and Belgrade we don't even know who he voices. Also for me this has nothing to do with the alpha. However, any mention of it probably would have helped You were right in saying the real problem here is about managing expectations. When someone hypes up an update it doesn't guarantee it's an update that will get you hyped. Angel for instance could be all about Japanese voice actors someone like Estebant isn't. So for him the update is basically as interesting as me telling you about what I had for lunch today. For you Japanese voice actors is very exciting. Everyone has different expectations, different things they get hyped about. Managing expectations is key in a kickstarter campaign.

Galamoth I don't care about the Alpha. Its the update itself that people are unhappy about. Let's not blow this out of proportion there's plenty of people happy about it too. I think my original post summed it up in as fair a way as you can get. The update IS for a specific group of people, and hey maybe that specific group is a LARGE amount of people. That's great it's just a bummer for those that it's not. Those people just like the ones that love the update were getting hyped over the prospect of the update too. That's why managing expectations is so important. You allow yourself to get too hyped and you might get a rug pulled out from under you at no fault but your own.

I can see CastleDan's point, I was really excited because I am familiar with some of those VA's roles but mostly by the fact that they are (as far as my knowledge goes) pretty important VAs in Japan, so I took it like an additional assurance of the scope of the game. But thinking about it I could see why this update wouldn't be exciting to some or may even disappoint those people. Maybe it's part of two updates, or something like that? It happened in the past, if I recall correctly. I have to admit though that the way I am I'm just happy to know that the development is proceeding at full throttle and that the team is concentrated on it. Informations like these are my cup of tea as I wouldn't want to be spoiled TOO much but that's just me. I perfectly understand why some people are unhappy with this.

Excited about the voice choice for Miriam, going to be honest I don't watch anime often so I don't really know most of the people but the last one I watched was kill a kill and that is a good voice choice.
On lack of updates it personally does not effect me because I really don't get over hyped about anything because it just sets me up for disappointment, but that's just me everyone thankfully thinks differently life would be boring if it was not so.

Of course they don't, I didn't say that
You're saying that they should have updated on something that everybody cares about instead of things that just small or large groups of people care about. The problem is no one topic can cover every group that way. You mention features there - perhaps they could have gone in on the depth of the crafting system. While that may seem to us forum regulars as deep, tasty information, to the casual fan that enjoys the game more as a "forest" than its detailed trees, they may have wanted to know more along the story side of things and how the characters are portrayed rather than what they might see as the minute details of a system they could likely ignore. We're actually more of a minority here - you could say in a more objective sense that how the game is perceived as a work in a broader sense is more important than feature announcements. Mine and your "special move inputs" is someone else's "how is this character's feelings delivered in the native language of the art"? you know what I mean?
I've been worried for years now how the Japanese/Asian market and the fans over there were feeling about Bloodstained and if they were being included enough in communication, and if they had enough coming their way to feel excited about. This project since being launched on a western platform has mostly targeted us as an audience, including that choice to have our MC be a female and all that--so to see this news now that they spared no expense in working out these big names for the game is great. It may bring in fans just because of those actors and it says something to the quality of the story to be told. I imagine they're loving it
To quote Mr. Hal Emmerich...:

And for me....it's like one of my Japanese animes!!?!?
I think a topic about the game itself, whether it be features within it's gameplay or progression on what's happening covers a far broader scale of people than Japanese voice actors. If we are talking about game features that's informing people who are interested in the game about something everyone will use not just some. For example: If they had an update explaining the familiars, it'd be interesting for everyone because it's a direct feature in the game. It's not a feature only meant for the western audience, it's not a feature only meant for the eastern audience, it's a feature that will be utilized by all people who play the game. If people don't care about actual gameplay features of the game well....that's a whole nother ball game. Japanese voice actors hits a specific audience. Your point is fine about bringing in more of the eastern audience but I don't get how what I'm saying hurts that? In my original post what did I say? Had this been an update about Japanese voice actors and the American voice actors it'd be different. This is for a specific group of people. That's my only point. You're not disappointed and I'm not asking you to be but it's perfectly reasonable for some who have been really excited for the update to be bummed out that it's not really reaching to them at all. It's over with now and ..... maybe the next update is the winner for those people.

Can we at least get to hear some lines? Right now it just looks like someone got a list of names and spent 15 minutes adding pictures. This is something else that is bothering me about this update. Didn't someone from Fangamer say in the shoutbox like 3 weeks ago that he already had the assets done for the udpate? If that is true, then why did it take them 3 weeks to get this update out? Like estebant said above, the update has very little information--a few names and pictures to go along with them. That can't have taken more than a day to write up. If it did, then resources are stretched too thin (i.e. too many people taking on too many roles). Update #55 should have been out 3 weeks ago instead of letting fans stew while wondering what said update might entail.

purifyweirdshard : this update is going to awaken the Hal Hemmerich in all of us. Redogan: that's fishy. I suspect that it MAY be the case of a double update, the first being the "minor" one to be a bit of a troll. Oh well, we'll see. I may be just too positive about everything and I suspect that I would be pleased either way lol

CastleDan I didn't think what your were saying hurts my point about the Eastern markets. That was more of a separate thought. I understand your point, but the side I'm expressing is that discussing actors actually is just as much discussing the game in a broad sense that pleases a lot of people. They could otherwise discuss a feature or mechanic that some people won't care about or use, as we all know from some past games. Mechanics in Igavania are often there more to have options than integral to the experience. Familiars are just the same way - even me, myself and I think you too, unless they prove to be like Symphony's, I'm probably not even using them. lol
So say they just did the English actors instead. Many other fans and likely myself would have been less interested in hearing that. Some would have been more interested, sure, but they had to do Japanese first anyway.
I understand that you and other guys are disappointed, it's fine to be disappointed. It's not what you guys wanted. That just doesn't mean to me that what they've shown is bad or that they're screwing up and need to get in line, etc. Angel has said that updates should be coming more frequently with more revealed faster, with a steady balance they're managing between spoiling things and feeding us excitement. We have to remember that our reactions will be exaggerated and hopefully not expressed to a point of hurting things (i.e. reactions reported on in news articles and blown up into not-problems as has happened before). No danger of this yet, but it's really annoying when it happens lol.

Right in a broad sense if they announced both regions of voice actors. i just think the actual gameplay is universal specific regions of voice actors isn't. Let people mope about it, there was a lot of hype about this being meaty or maybe it was assumed but it kinda sucks for those of us who doesn't follow Japanese voice actors. It's not a criticism of the team, it's just a bummer and not what I expected. Expectations can be rough sometimes! There's nothing that can be blown up about this from external sources, this is just some people who follow this game closely getting excited for an update for a while and being bummed that it's not something that speaks to them.

WOOH!!! IT'S HER!!! HOLY SHIRT!!! It's Ami Koshimizu! Kill la Kill were very amusing. The voice of Miriam might be somewhat shy at the beginning and grow into that angry, cursed angel of death later on..?!Holy Dracula, that japanese cast is remarkable! Excited to play this in English and Japanese! Glad you guys liked it. Me too. All the actors fit right in, and are pretty sure Belgrade are Zangetsu now that I have heard the Japanese counterpart. Deep and strict.See you guys next month. Or in three, depends on whenever they feel like updating again. This is the #1 update in terms of 505 Games overview and planning for updates. These should be out more frequently.
Notice how it really keeps on having 1 main topic? This is how planning works. And given the options they have and need to keep for not spoiling are indeed limited. I believe we will get voice acting in the playable alpha, which should have at least the japanese voices now, with english to come at a later date (or perhaps when it is playable for backers). This is just my theory however.
And yeah, there are a ton of information we do not know about yet. Also interesting to me was that Gremory is listed among the other members of the cast - will she have a proper role in the plot? That'd be cool! Gremory have a great roll in the lore. As we see the story playes out, it seems that this demon might be the version of Dracula's side-kick Death. Not in terms of how she functions, but rather how the story are driven, and what she will do to make it a living hell for Miriam (and friends). That is my guess. Can we at least get to hear some lines? Right now it just looks like someone got a list of names and spent 15 minutes adding pictures. This is something else that is bothering me about this update. See the updates as chapters from a book. We do not want a novel here guys, we want a thick book with lots of details.
