About Mighty no 9: i'm sorry, but i'm going to disagree with you RichterB . For me, Mighty no 9 has a lot of flaws and problems. It's graphics looks really outdated and it's gameplay, although i agree it's really fun, engaging and moves on a great fast pace, it's really lacking and for me, i believe this is the worst offender. I mean, i play games not for graphics, most of time, but for the fun factor and the game has absolutely no secrets, upgrades or anything whatsoever. You just go from point A to point B and that's it. With time, Inafune improved his Megaman formula, giving armor pieces , energy tanks and life increases in Megaman X, element chips, parts and abilities on Zero, among other things. Mighty no 9 has no collectibles and nothing for you to do inside the main game. People use Mighty no 9 as a example of a bad game, because that's precisely what it is. It's a shame because i also had hopes it would turn out to be a great megaman spiritual sucessor, but a gross, offensive and poor presentation (you make a trailer to advertise the game and say that the player will be "crying like anime fan in a Prom Night?" really? You say that to people backing a MEGAMAN game, where probably the majority there ARE anime fans?), complete disregard for it's public with tons of delays without proper explanation, fauty delivering, false promises, and a final product that is mostly bare bones of what Megaman was. I really wanted Mighty no 9 to be a good game and, for me, it's a shame how all ended. It's the same feeling i have with Bloodstained. I really really want this game to be great. I actually stated and conceded a lot of the points you noted in my previous post, though still got the old "fun factor" mixed in with the frustrations. The only thing more I would say to temper what you noted was that I don't think MN9 was built to be the kind of game you're thinking. I think it was seen as essentially a straightforward action-platformer with strategic elements, like the early Mega Man games. I wasn't there for the Kickstarter, and have heard the horror stories on the rollout and seen the downright mystifying marketing decisions, but I don't know if it was ever promised that it would include the exploration elements. I think this had much more retro intentions. That said, there are some hidden paths in some levels with much-needed life refills/extra lives, and the effort put in the Ray DLC has a depth similar to finding upgrades in the sense that you have to manage her continually draining life bar. (Playing her mode actually made me better at Beck's mode.) For whatever reason, perhaps due to the novelty of Kickstarter and breaking away from the traditional Japanese model of game-making and using a co-team not well established in creating polygonal 2.5D platformers, the planning and execution of everything came off chaotically. Still without these growing pains, maybe Bloodstained wouldn't have been considered a viable title for Kickstarter to begin with. I guess I just don't feel the need to see MN9 publily dragged through the mud to justify Bloodstained or serve as a warning to Bloodstained, over and over again. I hadn't placed all my hopes on MN9, though. Bloodstained, as has been said, is a completely different animal, except for the fact that it too is a Kickstarter endeavor. I'd like to see it embrace more Classicvania elements, personally, in the way you wanted MN9 to embrace later Mega Man elements, but I'll have to wait and see what the final intention is. I've come to accept to a large extent that it's a continuation of IGAvania; somehow my initial impression was that it could be a new paradigm that would better marry the strengths of the entire Castlevania series in a new IP. At this point, I've decided to be cautious and not fall into a pit of hype.

IGA said once that Bloodstained could be his Magnum opus (the best work of a creator). I believe Bloodstained is a mix of the best elements of most of IGAvania games (at least, what IGA himself considers to be the best elements of each of his games) such as: - Overall the same movement, pace, animation quality and weapon diversity of Symphony of the Night. Same scenario and ambiance diversity of Symphony and Harmony of Dissonance (that is a underrated game, but it does have great scenarios).
- A updated and refined version of what IGA himself considers the best magic system of the whole Castlevania franchise. The Shard system is obviously a version of the Soul Dominance from Aria of Sorrow and Dawn of Sorrow.
- Alchemy, the "magic science" as a plot point, like Lament of Innocence.
- Forging / Crafting system such as Curse of Darkness.
- Questing, something that started on Portrait of Ruin.
- NPCs to talk regularly, scenarios outside the castle, such as a village and the Galleon Minerva, like Order of Ecclesia.
At least, that's how i see it.

I can't remember Lament of Innocence very well, same goes with Curse of Darkness. Both games were fine, but the 3D ruined it for me back then, and still does. I enjoyed 2D and always have been. Today's 3D is a bit better, but I tend more to watch than play them. Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia are two games (along with Dawn of Sorrow) I have totally missed out on due to change of gamesystem. To me this is a homeage to Symphony of the Night only. Spiritual successor, as written. I have no idea how to see Bloodstained more than a project of IGA, something he want's to be proud of. A wild combination as you describe it would be fantastic (I guess?) but I remember some of these games also had some "not so great" parts as well. And just recently playing through Harmony of Dissonance, I agree, the environments in that game are amazing!

well like say you have a morte class variant called corpus that is still gooey and drippy looking like a morte but inbetween drips has a sideways spiky maw that when closed looks like a ribcage (the morte already has one but its on the back of it if you look) and walks more upright and is faster because it has a more solid core that gets partially exposed when you attack, give it an arcing claw toss attack and a more powerful close range bite and youve achieved everything the skeleton enemy does while giving it a new spin and slightly higher difficulty on top of keeping the theme of the game, stuff like that

Here's something I've been wondering for a while...why doesn't the team ever make mention of the point that the project can still be backed/the game and extras ordered? It's mostly us in comment sections that talk about the igavania.com/back site, with nary a Kickstarter update or social media post that says anything of it that I can remember. Is it a humility thing? Not wanting to ask for more than was needed?
We've run into quite a few people that thought they missed the boat. Well...they DID miss the E3 2016 galleon boat, but not the "boat" boat ;p
I guess we also want it to perform well post-launch in retail, though, so there's that to consider. Don't want to milk consumers too much ahead of time.

In spite of recording about 16 of these I don't think anyone has said they came here specifically due to the BCB. Probably because that's the first episode to hit the official YouTube. If you want some more great episodes, do a search for Bloodstained Community Broadcast on YouTube. You will find my channel and hear Ben Judd (IGA's Agent that you see with him all the time), Mana the ArtPlay communications manager, Matt Papa of IntiCreates and more. Ben and Mana have actually been on multiple times.

it wouldnt surprise me if skeletons arent a thing because china has a hard ban on skeletons and some other supernatural creatures, so having some kind of analog that fulfill the same lore and role while skirting using certain names to avoid those bans is a thing But...how would you get around this while still including skeletons? I don't like the idea of a game getting censored just because China says so. If IGA really wants to sell Bloodstained in China, he can just modify the appropriate enemies for the Chinese version only. It would really upset me if we got a gimped game because China. I agree, I won't tolerate censorship for the sake of anyone. I won't support any company that carters to it anymore.

Also I was wondering about that when it comes to getting the level that comes with a physical soundtrack CD. Also am happy Iga's artistic vision won't be meddled with due to the perception of outside forces.
