Castlevania netflix discussion (use spoiler tags)

Great to see the series get love and attention.

Funny how of all game adaptations to finally get it right, it's one of the long-storied franchises that has a lot of quirks grounded in the offbeat 80s and 90s (like loads of anachronisms, weird game logic, and a positively ludicrous setup), made it into a good show about the failings of mankind, ignorance vs. knowledge, religion vs faith/God, and complicity vs action, and yet managed to still maintain the series' identity. Seriously, there needs to be analysis about why this worked unlike, say, stuff like Warcraft and Assassin's Creed.

A well known one in the west on rotten tomatoes? Probably.

hey everyone, got some fan art I wanted to show you. this was drawn by a friend of mine who just got into the Castlevania fandom simply from the Netflix show. i do believe shes going to try and get her hands on as many of the games as she can from this.

anyway she drew awesome fan art of Lisa and Dracula from the show, she even went and put Lisa in the black dress worn by Lisa in SoTN's manual and flash back sequence. if you guys can, please give her some love and support, so she can feel welcome by the fandom.

I've been wanting to show y'all this for some time, so I'm glad I'm finally getting around too it. This is a 'Vampire Review' by Maven of the Eventide. Shes a YouTuber who specializes in film and TV show reviews that involve Vampires, how they're portrayed and how they compare to classic vampires of Lore. Shes one of the original cast members who worked with Channel Awesome, and was one of the actors who worked with Lindsay Ellis, aka the Nostalgia chick, before Lindsay left CH to do her own stuff. She was most famously known as the Make Over Fairy in a lot of the N. Chicks reviews.



If you guys wanna see more videos by her, and maybe talk about her works, ive made a topic dedicated to her.

It was a good prologue.
I enjoyed what I have seen so far.
Animation wise and all, it was great.
I am still rather disappointed by the fact that the music is generic and none of the game music is arranged in a form or another.

But it still works in the scenes, so I do not mind as much as I should.

I still wish they put some of the game music on this animation in the next season.

And I can understand why some people don't like all the swearing on it.
And I swear it's out of place, but I can understand why they did it in the first place.

Overall, I do not mind it, at least when it drives emphasis to a line or a moment.
And in Trevor's case and the drunk people on the bar, I can totally expect it.
And how some priests swear too, it actually makes sense to portray their corruption.

It's something I expect to vanish as the series progresses.

So that's why I'm not that bothered.

On the other side, I am sure they did because of the entertainment factor, and how it will attract more general audiences, as opposed to everyone talking in an archaic manner that few would understand. (Something along the dialogue in games would be great though, sophisticated, yet still understandable for the general people).

Again, I didn't mind with Trevor, because it worked really well.
But I hope that this does not become the normal if they adapt other games in the series.

Besides, it would work better if each protagonist have different personalities through generations.
I wouldn't like to see "Trevor in a different body" every time.

For next adaptations, I would like to see Simon's story (CV1 and 2) and then Leon, before they go to the other games in the series.
Of course, that's if they even do more adaptations.

You're missing a LOT of Greats in advance of "Grandpa" there, Rick. My best minimum estimate? Trevor, 3 generations, Christopher, Soleiyu, 3 generations, Simon, unnamed, Juste, unnamed, you. So, Trevor is your great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandfather.

He really is great, isn't he? <insert rimshot here>
