yup. The level cap raised to 255, and you can equip dual death rings, then the best equipment queen of hearts or something on second play through, I love seeing shanoa doing insane damage to boss. I did that as well as a hard mode level cap 1 with a clear save. Hardest frickin' thing I've ever done in an IGAvania lol. Far more difficult than Portrait of Ruin's level 1 hard mode. I still get flashbacks from Ruvas Forest.

Nothing timed. Example: Long special challenge or collect the orbs in under 2 minutes. I hate timed anything, period.
I like the early Halo Legendary's type of challenges; hard as hell, but I have all the time in the world to do it.

"In case last night's cliffhanger update wasn't clear enough: New Game Plus is achieved. You worked through our Backer Achievement system with fearsome efficiency, and the team agreed to make NG+ your reward. But enough talk -- lets have at the details": - Carry over key items/equipment to your next game - Harder enemies, better stats, and new attack patterns - The team hopes to implement some special enemies which may drop rare items SourceTags: new game +, new game plus, newgameplus, newgame+

Hey Enk, here is what I feel for difficulty. I'd want the game to have various difficulty degrees, namely normal and hard, if not a ragequit one to top it all (two or three in total). I say, if people want to begin the game on hard, let them have it. Achievements will do good. No difficulty-changing would be allowed, however. Too much a challenge? Do restart the game from scratch! As for the roguelike mode, a token ending would be nice to have too. Some cool message from the devs, for all of the trouble trying and completing it. And as I can read it, that mode changes everything, from the layout to traps and enemy placement. Codes would be set apart, at the beginning of a playthough. "Do you have any special password to submit?" and so on. The CSOTN style is not really a style. It was not even indicated. I am sure that if people knew that Alucard's stats would be slightly different depending on how Richter performed, maybe would they have tried harder. It doesn't change the game that much, though, except if the player is into small digits HP, aka life hanging by a thread. Ah, a dynamic style. Shoot 'em ups generally do that, but I certainly hope the game doesn't get cheap if it goes into such a territory. It could bring sense in nightmare mode, though... The vendor mode, aka unlocking difficulty levels? It's not so much different than unlocking a difficulty level by completing a game, after all. Not very interesting. I did choose Classic mode for the poll but my final answer is this: Choose the difficulty from the start. Make further difficulty dynamic for nightmare mode. Get a prompt for codes at the start, nicely-labeled. No chances to change difficulty during progress, you choose it, you stick with it. Have a good day! P.S.: I wonder if a special mode that focuses more on sounds and dimmed music could work in a game. I am certain it will never appear in 'stained, but that would be a cool venture to explore! Beyond that, there IS a game that is blind-people friendly. hg101.kontek.net/bitgenerations/bitgenerations3.htm check the Soundvoyager part.

I am partial to the replay style.
Especially how they did it in OoE.
First you beat the game the way 'it was meant to', then it unlocks NG+ with additional challenges. And have different options with the NG+.
iirc there was hard mode lvl 50, hard mode lvl 1 etc. To me it was like a different mode, like Albus mode, a different way to play the game. Increasing playtime/replayability.
I got so many hours out of OoE using this, as well as my own 'custom' modes. (Cat transform mode, Bat Tranform mode, etc. basically play the entire game with the cat transfomation and what not.)

Order of ecclesia's way of difficulty was just about perfect, lots of things were faster and did status effects, traps were brutal, and flying enemies became a thing to plan around rather than ignore. The only thing bad about it are the huge finicky boss like crab, shadow , and horse man, they dont work well with the screen size and you will eat hits just for being at a medium distance from the boss because his hit box is so big, go look at gergoth in DoS and honestly tell me it wouldnt have been a better fight with double room length.
Crossing my fingers things like that dont return in RoTN

Whatever you can call Order of Ecclesia, I loved pretty much everything that game did. It certainly helped me ignore the relatively small size of Dracula's Castle compared to other games' incarnations of it.

Sotn Advanced Style, please! There was an entire SYSTEM, behind your starting stats, depending on how you fared against D. during that fight! It was pretty much unique, i have never come across something similar in any game ever again, whatsoever! Please, bring that back! Here, please, witness yourself this elaborate system! www.deixadilson.com/sotn/secretsI have never managed to beat him under 1 minute, without getting damaged and without Sub-Weapon, though (some use a special move to pull that off). But since i actually use magic, i go after the bonus of Cross (holy water is better for the kill, but worse for bonus).
