EDIT: ALSO ghaleon Interesting that you don't Like Fallout 3 & 4; some would argue that those are what brought Fallout to the fame it is now. (ergo Bethesda) Very Interesting. Never played the first two myself, but I've seen bits and pieces of them.

Fallout was already pretty popular, not that popular really motivates me, I mean just look at ogre battle, people go 'oh you mean tactics ogre?' no.. ogre battle.

It's just that fallout 3 made it much MORE popular. But yeah, it really isn't Fallout as a game imo. To me they are more like a fallout total conversion mod for Skyrim (yes I'm aware fallout 3 came first but my point is it's like a completely different game series that just got a paintjob for fallout).

Even the 3dness or first person thing didn't break the deal for me. What really stung was before fallout 3 was released, they were pandering to the old fans with the VATS system claiming that you COULD play it turn-based like fallout used to be, as well as a first person shooter. But upon release, I quickly saw how bogus that was. VATS lets you take like a few shots per battle. there is no 'end turn' thing on it where the enemies take shots at you afterwards, and then you get your turn again, etc. It's more like a 'bullet-time'-esque superpower that you can use at select moments th an an actual secondary gametype.

Plus turning into a first person shooter completely eliminated the mechanics that they pretend to keep like perception being useful for your firearm aim/precision, as well as the ability to notice hidden objects, which are now completely dependant on the player. Agility which affects how many actions you can take per turn...except there are no more turns in the game.

I'm aware it's a successful game that pleases a lot of people, I wont say it's a terrible game. But it's kind of a slap in the face as a fallout fan. I mean call of duty is successful, but just imagine the next castlevania being call of duty with some castlevania artwork, music, and UI. It would be interesting to see, but will it scratch that castlevania itch? obviously not.

Would "Many Others" simply suffice? I'm not really active in very many "communities" other than this one, but I have [way too] many favorite series.

I accept forgetting some series. but I just saw lufia.. as someone who actually likes lufia 1 as much as 2, and liked it alot, I cannot forgive myself. garrr.

Dat lufia game on the DS though, omg what a let down. Incidentally, that reminds me of golden sun dark dawn, ,which was also god-awful compared to the prior 2 games, sadness.

Oh, I could see Goobsausage getting a kick out of how they made the doctor into Christopher Lloyd though lol

And i respect all of you who played Lufia:The legend returns on GBC (my favorite Lufia game) and really the Lufia 2 remake was a great example of how to turn a very cool series into "generic fantasy jrpg that lifts some shit from Kindom Hearts".

There is not a single game series that I love anymore, but I have loved and enjoyed many mentioned in these posts. Silent Hill would stick out if it wasn't dead. I wish for more there. These days I'm looking forward to something new like Cyberpunk 2077 and of course, the renewal of an Igavania game rather than another Gears of War, Elder Scrolls, Uncharted or Zelda, etc.
