Alfred as one of the three playable characters.

Ive got a feeling Alfred is going to be a character similar to Barlowe. Basically it will seem it is a good guy but will reveal itself to manipulate Miriam.

Therefor I believe it will not be a playable character.

Icant remember an 'evil' character to ever be playable in an Igavania.
PoR had the sisters but they were basically brainwashed iirc.

Also I havent read any of the backstory of any character except of Miriam a bit... so this can be waaay off.

Heh, LoI is probably the only CV game I havent played (I own Judgement... take that as you will =P)

HoD, I did play but I cant remember much of it to be honest.

Playable characters

Miriam: Wide range of weapons, shards etc.
Zangetsu: Katana and magical buffs.
Dominique: Whip and holy spells. (Attacking like Belmont, not Miriam)

Alfred: Mini boss (?)

Wait, Enochian is mentioned in the game proper?

Interestingly, the Rose has much symbolism with the Rosicrucian 'movement', if you can call it that since it was a wholly fictional organization, and Alchemy figured into it such as in the 'Chemical Wedding'.

The Rose had... dang it, something to do with Johann Valentin Andreae's personal history. That fellow was purported to have been at least one of the writers of the Rosicrucian manifestos.

That said, none of this likely has anything to do with the roses in the game. I assume those are there to echo the 'Bloodstained' rose theme of a stained glass rose.

I happen to have Laycock's Enochian Dictionary on hand. This could prove terribly fun!

Dragon_of_Dojima Fair enough, friend. His options for movement are comparatively lackluster in CotM (though he can use "Frostcalibur" to freeze objects & enemies into platforms... and apparently it is actually possible to complete most, if not all, of the Stages as Alfred by himself).  And, as is intended (and expected), Alfred is almost completely-reliant on Spells; some of which can offer the highest potential damage-output but burn through MP/"weapon points" rather quickly. His basic melee attack offers very little.

So yeah, I can see where you're coming from.

I still think Alfred could be great as a playable character due to some possible gameplay differences in RoTN from his playstyle in CotM, such as his "basic" melee attack using magical Tomes rather than whacking with a cane/club (making him somewhat "Charlotte"-esque). Maybe one of his movement options could be levitation similar to Stella & Loretta from Portrait of Ruin, as well as Barlowe in his boss-fight from Order of Ecclesia.

Heck, they could even use a similar concept to the Spellbooks from Harmony of Dissonance, and have Alfred's chosen Spell Tome on his pause menu affect his various "Up + Attack", Shoulder Button, or Directional "sub-weapon" options.

Addendum: Now I feel I should brainstorm what kind of equipment pieces that Alfred could uniquely wear (like "cloaks" for Gebel, perhaps).
