because of the massive success of Zelda:BotW do you think Nintendo will give their other games the "free open world" treatment? can you imagine how Metroid will play as a free open world game? maybe Kriby, Captain Toad, Yoshi, Donkey kong or even F-Zero (I know weird but think futuristic Shenmue with racing).
Anyway do you guys think this will be a trend or will nintendo play it safe again? or if you have any ideas for any of nintendo's IPs (ones I mentioned or didn't)

well not everything needs open world, seamless world maybe, but not open world like zelda animal crossing and pikmin would easily translate to
metroid (and luigis mansion to a lesser extent) would be better described as open maze gameplay, where you can approach a solution from multiple angles depending on skill and items, but youre still in an environment thats claustrophobic, does naturally funnel you till you get good enough to sequence break, and is very sci-fi/horror inspired
but i think nintendo needs to have a variety of experiences for players, its part of what sets their ips apart from each other even though some dabble in multiple worldsets like mario being able to have 2d level based games, 3d hub world games (a hybrid of open world and level based), rpgs, party games, etc
an fzero that focused on captain falcon tracking down bounties in a hub world based game would be pretty interesting, but i think the first game we get needs to be purely a racer with maybe a story mode attached to ease new players into the lore of fzero so they wouldnt be lost when captain falcon: bounty hunter did come out
also theres a question of exploration vs story, take twilight princess, skyward sword, or the first half of wind waker, or every FF/rpg game ever, the world may be open (eventually) or seamless, but every gate is story locked, you cant visit x until the story gives you y key (sometimes literally) no matter what your skill or knowledge level is, whereas a game like z1 i can get every square on the world map save 2 without ever needing to pick up anything (and the items i need to get to those 2 spaces arent story locked, i just need the knowledge and skill to get them early), and in botw ive been all over the map and all over the castle yet i only have 3 hearts and have done next to no story because i wanted to explore first and unlock as many shrines and seeds as i can (atm im looking for how to expand my inventory though, not enough pockets...)

Yeah, open world isn't always a good way to go. The tone/setting of Metroid wouldn't necessarily mesh well with it, like Astaroth said.
One thing I could definitely see Nintendo do though, and I wouldn't be surprised if it's part of their long game anyway, is an open "real" world augmented reality Super Mario World experience. I kind of saw some flashes of that in the trailer for the new Mario game, but essentially I could picture things like:
Standard outdoors/the "overworld": coins in the air to collect, goombas to step on, power-ups from real time scans of your surroundings, and the outsides of buildings having "?" blocks attached to them, etc.
Being indoors would be equivalent to going into a pipe, the "underworld": More enemies, less power-ups, it would be cool if somehow the camera could read the geometry of the room to make some tricky platforming out of it. Monsters circling around in one spot, some floor lava, etc.
Special designated indoor spots (similar to Go gyms), "castles": Challenging boss areas.
Basically, being outside would be the easiest place to get coins, power-ups and fight easier enemies, so it would hypothetically make people want to go outside and play lol. Of course, I have no idea how the technology could work for some of these things, but it sounds to me like something Nintendo would want to do.
