Does it remove Solitaire, though. No, but I heard it forces multiplayer mode. And only the first ten cards of the first suit are available. The face cards and the other suits are all DLC! XD |

I've learned from Vista never to jump to the next OS version. Technically the "next version" would have been Windows 9. So technically they did the jump for you! So everything should be A-OK and everything should work just fine and nothing should ever break and there will be unicorns and rainbows coming out of your monitor with kittens and puppies walking paw in paw across your keyboard with cute music playing in the background and, and, and...... and...... Ok I'm not sure what happened there or where I was going with that.  |

I run Win 10 on a VM @ work, i actually like it and can't wait to throw it on my home computers. currently the only thing i'm not liking is the fact that home users (non-Pro versions) won't be able to schedule their windows updates (they'll automatically download and install). at least that's what i've heard... the build i'm using isn't final and is a Pro version.
i see why they'd do this, because they want users to always be patched against security updates and people are relatively irresponsible in this regard, however, a number of people have been burned by taking things right away. i'm more of the "wait and see" kinda person when it comes to windows updates.

I used the technical previews during the whole thing and it wrecked my system files around the time they started this free upgrade business. I had to reinstall everything unfortunately...
W10 is mostly aesthetic from what I used. They changed so much stuff... aesthetically. The search bar is not as useful. Cortana is stupid. The new Internet Explorer replacement thing doesn't support add ons (yet), so it means I won't ever use it... though it was pretty nifty from what I checked out, other than that. For the TP's you could choose slow or fast mode, which would keep your build stable or fast track you to the latest unstable build. I had to deal with things like not being able to read the calculator, and the e-mail program not functioning correctly. They fixed the calculator (which was a general text issue that existed beyond the calculator) before it stopped working for me, but the e-mail thing never did get fixed for me.
I like the aesthetic changes, but if you're worried about potential issues you should wait and see. It's a given that they won't release a build that has glaring problems, but that doesn't mean everything is going to work perfectly either.

I never upgrade unless im being pulled kicking and screaming. Not juwt because of changes, or bugs... But so-called performance upgrades are always a farce. Performance ALWAYS drope after an upgrade contrary to what they claim every time, Not to mention they always hog more resources.

I really liked XP. Ive heard many people say this, and I dont think they are all lying. But I still am skeptic because my videocard is suppos3d to be directx11 optimized. And a couple games I had also were. Yet after going from xp to 7 AND updating my directx, I saw 2 60 fps games drop down to about 52... And yes I did a clean format and install. You may argue 2 games isnt much but while I have tons of games, only 2 were considered hardware demanding at the time. Others were too old or low spec to care either way. Thate actually on3 of my theories as to why people claim faster performance. Maybe they had some bloatware or horrible fragmentation and then they do a clean format and install and zounds! Performance upgrade. |
