Aztec You misread my post. I didn't say it was outright false; I said it was misinformed. And Mana definitely did not confirm that Bloodstained was going to be a 2017 Switch release(which is what that news release claimed). That would be a bit difficult to pull off since the game isn't coming out until 2018. In any case, you missed the point of my post, which was to indicate that this article isn't a news update since they don't list a source, and is likely just a rehash of what we already have heard from other sources.

Yeah, while Mana said it's true that this game's getting a Switch version, it's still a 2018 release.
It's best for all of us to ignore any "confirmation" until it is officially stated by IGA and/or his development teams.
A lot of people right now, especially those who aren't backers, are still assuming this game to be a 2017 release because of Nintendo's "update".

What was said is that the image isn't a hoax, that doesn't necessarily mean it's real, it means that there was a mixup. It could just as well mean that somebody was completely mistaken as much as it could mean that they jumped the gun. Just want to be clear on that.

Considering the way these articles work(and considering they don't list a source), this is probably based off the same misinformed(at least insofar as the game was wrongly listed for a 2017 release) news update that Nintendo put out earlier. You did see Mana stopping by and basically confirming its true right? XombieMike asked if the pic was a hoax and Mana said it wasn't. Announcement coming when they're ready and thats where it ended but she said indeed it was real. Bloodstained will come to Switch, its just a matter of time for they to announce it. Now as to what that would mean to the WiiU version thats an entirely different matter but I wouldnt hold my breath on that one still coming. Huh, we'll prolly hear about it in the next update then. I'm sure that'll dismiss any shadows of doubt in the community...

And the news is out! Switch version has been confirmed. See the latest update.
This is what I thought they would do re: backer options and refunds. I however only anticipate single digit refunds lol. ;p

To be fair. The game is scheduled for 2018 (what part of 2018 remains to be seen) so that leaves at least 9 months to start pinching pennies.

As per requests in the shoutbox, I am dual-posting these questions here and in the "Messages to IGA" thread.
What I'm most curious about from the point of view of having no dog in the WiiU/Switch race...what's the plan for the finances after any requested refunds are applied? Admittedly the Kickstarter funds were only a portion of the total budget, but what's going to be done as far as budget originally set aside for Armature developing the Wii U version? Will they be receiving the same as intended for Switch development? Will some funds be moved from dealing with the complication of engine porting to other areas simply because the engine can run natively on the Switch and thus development time and costs are no longer as high? Not to mention that a public release of source code for making UE4 run on the Wii U is now pretty much all but pointless.

Okay, *now* I feel fine with talking about this. And also it's a good way to handle things. Especially with the 'not having to do anything if you want a switch version instead of Wii U' part.

While I think it's a good move to move development to the Switch, I hope the Vita version doesn't get axed. It has the best D-pad all all the platforms where the game is going to be available.

Well, seeing as I put in the Wii U on the survey... but then forgot I did that and traded my Wii U in, it looks like this is a good development.
I'm looking forward to playing the game on the Switch next year.

I'm actually at a crossroads here.
I backed for a physical Steam copy, because I wanted to be able to play this game in, let's say, 20 years in the future when reasons happen.
But now, I might just switch^2, due to portability. I also have a proper capture card now, so that should help me get into the speedrunning scnee if that ever happens, and just get a digital copy at a later time for pc.
Decisions. Decisions.

Well, unscheduled update 50 is out, with the confirmation of what we expected. Here a bit-by-bit analysis, as usual of myself: ABOUT THE DOWNFALL OF WII U and NINTENDO SWITCH
I'm not going to say that i didn't saw, in the first video showing Wii U, how that plataform was doomed to dust, but anyways, we all see that coming when Nintendo annoucend Switch. Not much to say about it. But it is infortunate anyways. Nintendo Switch seems to be a "native" plataform for Bloodstained (Wii U looked like it too). I'm still a bit concerned and treating Switch with caution. Nintendo has being doing a lot of wrong things in the last few years (although Zelda was a huge hit). ABOUT THE REFUND
It is nice that they are doing this for the fans that backed for Wii U. They would'nt need to do that, since Kickstarter works as a donation service, as far as i know. You give money, and you don't expect to have your money back. That's how it works. (Anyone correct me if i'm wrong). So, it is very considerate they are offering refund options. ABOUT THE NEW CHARACTERS
I am the only one that saw IGA talking about new characters? "Your regularly scheduled update is coming very soon! IGA has prepared introductions for three of the characters Miriam will meet as Bloodstained gets underway…"
I am the only one hyped for that?! I am wrong, or IGA is talking about THREE NEW CHARACTERS?! That's all folks!

I just switched over my answer, pun intended. The Wii U is pretty much dead so I don't see this as a bad development.

I really think it's a good idea to move from Wii U to Switch, since the latter supports UE4 out of the box, which means the dev team could port the game to Switch without much effort. Not related to the topic though, from what I've heard the dev kit for Switch is only priced at 50$, Wii U on the other hand costs 200-250$. Sorry for the guys at Armature though since they're handling porting UE4 to Wii U, and also sorry for all Wii U lovers.
Same as Jeff, I somehow didn't see that line at the end of the post lol Now I'm hyped.

Armature still handling this version? Oh it's Armature, I spell it wrong... idk, but isn't Armature only handling the UE4 engine according to the kickstarter page?
