Who/what are you hoping to see for MvCI? I'm thinking about making videos discussing my ideas for this game. Things we know so far:
Current cast is Ryu, X, Morrigan for Capcom, and Iron Man, Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) and Captain America (Steve Rogers - presumably) 2v2 teams, no assists, but quick swapping in of characters mid-combo Infinity Stones/gems will give characters different options X is important to the story (likely means Sigma, the assumed boss-looking character at the end seems Sigma-y, some are speculating Ultron possessed by the Sigma virus) X-men are not "entirely" ruled out according to Marvel rep, but the feeling most have is that the focus will be on the Marvel Cinematic Universe characters
What I expect: Something like a cross between Marvel vs Capcom 1, Tatsunoko vs Capcom and Street Fighter x Tekken Gems are similar to an -ism or groove choice (Alpha 3, CvS2) Heavily MCU on the Marvel side To make up for the lack of 90s on Marvel's side, Capcom will tap more into its classic franchises
What I WANT: For Marvel, Jim Lee's X-men lol, specifically Gambit, Rogue, Psylocke, Cyclops and related characters such as Cable, Omega Red, Bishop. I would be fine with just 2 of these For Capcom, Leon Scott Kennedy (RE4) and Ada Wong (RE6), Nero (DMC4), Guy and Rose (SF Alpha), Saki (from a Capcom quiz game originally, was in TvC) and....Ryu from Breath of Fire, specifically BoF3 with dragon gene transformations.
I think that most of those are near impossible lol, with Leon and Ada being the most likely of them probably and...yeah, probably none of the rest of them. Maybe they can negotiate Cyclops, it's really weird not having him around in a Vs game. I mean

The game is said to have a 'visually stunning' and 'impressive' story. And in fact, this time around 'Story' is a separate mode from 'Arcade'.
Though I wonder how Story will work. Are we given pre-defined 'canon' teams to play as, or what?
Anyway, for the roster. Some wishes of mine.
Capcom side:
Strider
Asura
Some Onimusha character
Vile
Saki Ryu (Breath of Fire Ryu), but if we can't have him and SF's Ryu in the same game, then Nina from Breath of Fire. Batsu Akira
Lastly, some male Darkstalkers characters, Vs. titles frequently forget they exist. My picks would be Jon Talbian, Lord Raptor, and Demitri. Maybe Jedah as well, provided that Jedah's moveset won't raise the game rating by itself.
 Some of this guy's attack animations...
Marvel side: Dormammu Shuma-Gorath Toxin (he was my 'underdog' request in the days of MvC3) Deadpool
...Eh, I'm realizing that I don't know that many non-X-Men, non-Spiderman Marvel characters off the top of my head. Heck, I really only know of Dormammu and Shuma-Gorath thanks to these Vs. games. |

Hahaha yeah, excluding only Anakaris in Marvel 2, they have NEVER used a male Darkstalkers character in the Versus series. Jedah and Demitri were at least in SvC/CFJ, but they're still really under-represented. It just goes to show the truth that people are more fans of Darkstalkers' female characters than the games themselves... =/
Thanks for posting that interview Hydra, I hadn't seen it. One question I have though is about that development team. Like you say, they do make it sound like it's being done in-house which is VERY unusual for them for a fighting game, and I'm wondering if what they mean is that it's ex-Capcom employees that Eighting and/or DIMPS hired. They could have actually brought those people back on into Capcom itself, because I mean afaik they do still in-house develop some things like Monster Hunter and Ace Attorney. For a fighting game though, it's been a long time...over a decade.

There are two major characters I want from this game, on the Capcom side. Oichi from their Sengoku Basara series The other Capcom character who I want to see, but know we likely wont, is Lucia from the main Devil May Cry Canon. |

I've got to say this again. As much as I really want this game, I really want it most for Mega Man X.
There is so much potential for the character. I could just shoot an imaginary charged X-Buster in excitement!

Roster ideas.
Capcom
Breath of Fire representation: It would be kinda confusing to have two Ryu in a game but if one does make the cut, I hope it's the BoF3 one. The Infinity Stones can be used to have different dragon forms with their own styles. If not, I want Nina or Bleu/Deis.
Power Stones: With the Infinity Stones premise, why not remove the dust on this franchise. I don't have a character in mind but I'd settle for ANYone.
Monster Hunter: I don't care how, just make it happen Capcom.
Hugo from Street Fighter/Final Fight.
Leon Kenedy/Claire Redfield. With the RE2 remake on it's way, go ahead and put one or both in the game.
Regina from Dino Crysis. She can be the Jill Valentine of this game. Now if only we can get Capcom VS Square Enix. Regina vs Aya Brea. FIGHT!
Marvel
With a focus on the MCU and with some licensing issues with Fox, this list can be a bit limited
Loki. Come on. Let's give the teenage girls more to drool over without needing glittery vampires.
Thor. A Staple of Marvel
Black Widow. Do I even need to explain this one?
Daredevil. Yes. Netflix is a thing and it may be DD's ticket in.
Black Panther and Winter Soldier.

even though they usually keep her shoved in the back of the character closet for stupid reasons, having poison make an appearance like she did in sxt and usf4 (pleeeeease include her in sf5 capcom) would make me happy, but other than that deadpool, megaman, im gonna miss the roll/strider/megaman screenful of lag triple tech

Almost every Capcom character I've wanted to see included already appeared in MVC2 and UMVC3. The only newcomers I can think of at the top of my head are Gene from God Hand and Asura from Asura's Wrath, and for some Capcom characters I don't really like switched out for ones I do (most notably Akuma and C. Viper swapped for M. Bison and Juri, and different Darkstalkers characters instead of Felicia and Hsien-ko).

Since I'm here:
I've got my fingers crossed to see Felicia (Darkstalkers), Zero (I realize X is in and I'm really happy about that, but I still want Zero), and Dante (original please) again in this game as they were among my go to mains in Marvel VS Capcom 3. But like Scuttlest said earlier, I too would like to see more of the male Darkstalkers get in this time around. Aside from Demitri, Lord Raptor, and Jedah making some side appearances here and there (Project X Zone 1&2 being the more recent examples) the male Darkstalkers really don't see much love, if at all, in cross over fighting games. (And this coming from someone who's not even big on fighting games) Jon Talbain in particular was actually the character that got me introduced to Darkstalkers in the first place, and that poor werewolf hasn't seen any action since Darkstalkers stopped being made. (He does get a passing mention in Project X Zone 2 though)
As such, I'm hoping to see Demitri and/or Talbain get in to Marvel VS Capcom Infinite this round along with Felicia. (Morrigan of course already confirmed, lol) I'd toss my vote for Jedah... if his moveset wasn't something to consider for the age rating of the game. As TV Tropes even puts it, Jedah's moveset alone makes Mortal Kombat look tame by comparison.
I can't think of much else I want to see from either Capcom nor Marvel. I thought Capcom's roster in MvC3 was nearly perfect. (Nearly being the word) For Marvel, I'd replace X-23 with someone else... if I could even think of another Marvel character I'd like to see more. Perhaps Black Widow?
To sum up my wish list:
Capcom: Felicia Demitiri and/or Talbain Dante Vergil Lady (Move over Trish) Zero (To spice it up, it could be the "Megaman Zero" version of him, but I'd prefer classic Zero) Sigma (Make it happen Capcom! X is in already!) M. Bison (Move over Akuma) Amaterasu (Admit it. She was a unique fighter just for being a freaking dog, lol) Phoenix Wright (It doesn't get more unique then a defense attorney being out on the field yelling "OBJECTION!" in your face)
I could have swore there are other Capcom characters I want to see, but I can't think of any more right now.
Marvel: (Even after taking into account that it's focused on the Marvel Cinematic Universe) At least 3 X-Men. (I kinda like all of them evenly for the most part, so I don't care which ones) Spiderman Green Goblin Venom Dr. Strange Dormammu (I don't actually know this characer like... at all... but he was freaking awesome in MvC3) Deadpool (This guy is too funny to leave out) Dr. Doom Black Widow Winter Soldier

To be honest i kinda wish they made a Capcom Allstar game instead. but i guess Marvel is a good way to introduce new people to fighting games so im not going to complain too much. heres my list of what i want
Capcom:
Date Masamune, Sanada Yukimura and Oda Nobunaga from Sengoku Basara
Dante, Vergil and Nero from Devil May Cry
Morrigan, Jedah, Donovan from Darkstalkers
Zero, Sigma, Dragoon (One of the bosses from X4) from Megaman X
Also one or multiple of the weapon classes from Monster hunter franchise would be cool, my choice would be the Switch Axe
Akuma from Street Fighter... or even better bring back Cyber Akuma lel, No SFV lion Akuma though i hate that new look
as for Marvel characters im not sure. Since Ironman is already revealed i guess the only character that interests me is Ghost Rider

Talbain/Gallon and Donovan are great ideas. I like Demitri a lot myself, but he's a very "standard" character, they would have to do a bit of work to make him stand out gameplay wise. Donovan has a LOT of special move variety and possibilities in how he could play, even some of his own unique mechanics with setting the sword. I could see Talbain as more or less a Capcom Wolverine, since Beast Cannon is pretty similar to drill claw...though hopefully is stronger/more useful since that's definitely his signature move. If you guys really miss him/his gameplay a lot, you could try playing Valkenhayn in Blazblue lol
Magma Dragoon from X4 is one of the best ideas for an X boss if they decide to use one. Maybe if they can't use a sentinel though, the General from X4 would be a pretty damn cool replacement. The Capcom side is often missing big body characters anyways, or if they have them they're not as strong (Nemesis).

Okay, let me enter on this thing. I'm going to talk about what i expect from the infinite stones AND the casting.
This list was made with the help of my brother.
ABOUT INFINITE GEMS
It has been said that the infinite gems may resemble something of the "Ism" / groove system from Alpha 3 / Capcom VS SNK 2, where there was several super bars with different moves and settings for each one. This is a rumor thing, so, assuming that could be the case, here's what i want for the Infinite Gems.
I made up everything, nothing of what i said here is official.
Consider this:
1) Soul Gems are selected before the battle.
2) The game will have the "weak / medium / strong" control scheme. With supers having the same three levels.
3) Gems will have two effects. They change the super gauge AND they have an activation effect.
How i think each gem should work:
SOUL GEM
Super Gauge: default, 3 level gauge.
Gem activation: slowly regenerates the life bar for some seconds. Once per round.
TIME GEM
Super Gauge: custom, 2 level super gauge. Can't do level 3 supers.
Gem activation: activates a custom combo that works like a customized super for some seconds. Uses one gauge level.
SPACE GEM
Super Gauge: single level , short gauge. Can only do 1 level super moves, but can do super moves with simpler moveset.
Gem activation: double character's speed for some seconds. Once per round.
MIND GEM
Super Gauge: 3 level gauge. Can be charged by holding two shoulder buttons at the same time. Can also be charged normally, but it takes longer to charge.
Gem activation: fully regenerates super gauge a single time. Once per round.
REALITY GEM
Super Gauge: default gauge, but has 5 levels.
Gem activation: turns super gauge infinite (with a infinity symbol) for some seconds. After it, Super gauge is goes down to 0 and must be refilled normally. Once per round.
POWER GEM
Super Bar: single 1 level gauge. Bigger gauge. Super moves are locked in a special "4 level" power, that is much higher than level 3 super moves.
Gem activation: increases attack power for some seconds.

Eh, if they're both standing straight, the general is roughly 3x Zero's height, who is not especially tall in the context of Marvel vs Capcom. It wouldn't take all that much shrinking down. The colonel is only a little taller than Zero, so he might be like the height of like...Dormammu or even just Wesker.
And if necessary, well...TvC did have Gold Lightan and a Lost Planet mech lol.
