It's being reported by the people who have early access to the Switch (such as GameXplain) that Nintendo's social media, Miiverse, does not exist on the Switch. n...no miiverse...?

How will Jim Sterling be able to annex Ubisoft game communities and turn them into Willem Dafoe communities now?

Personally, I liked Miiverse much more then more mainstream social media sites, like Twitter and Facebook. Though mostly because Miiverse wasn't a breeding ground for internet drama queens.
*sigh*
Well, while a fun social media is being shut down, Miiverse's namesake, the Miis, are sticking around.
At about 0:53-0:54 of this video, there's some sort of game that has Miis in it. (Too lazy to actually isolate a screenshot right now.)

can we all agree that Bowser is best dad? *notices the peach screen saver* You're surprised? We've know for decades why Bowser wants to keep Peach for himself. Those kids didn't come out of nowhere.

New Zelda gameplay on Switch with techy commentary about the graphics and performance.
Really interesting, 720p on handheld mode is very decent and will be ok graphics-wise. 900p while docked isn't that great but eh, wasn't expecting much anyway.

With horrible detail draw distance and occasional hiccups? And they want $300 for this console? Have to admit that I'm pretty chipper 'bout my power-to-price estimates being right for this joke of a console. Alright, time to get prepped for the train ride.

Huh. I didn't watch the Treehouse stream, so I'm only just learning about more BoTW amiibos.
We have that girl and a Bokoblin joining the list of BoTW amiibos.

A little bit of information for my friends (Anyone who is reading this):
The "grip" that the Switch comes with is different than the "Charging Grip." The grip the Switch actually comes with doesn't charge the...Joycon things so they can run out of juice. The "Charging Grip" actually charges them via USB cable (from my observations). It has to be bought separately for 29.99.
There are several articles about it if you want to see for yourself. I'd avoid Forbes though. They've been on a warpath for the last couple of days.

The only contributor on Forbes that I read is Erik Kain. His articles are usually well thought out even when I don't agree with him. The rest of them(that I've encountered) are low grade bloggers and trend followers.

im pretty happy with this setup, something i dont think people have noticed which is absolute genius on nintendos part is that strange cutout in the back of the system above the usbc hookup is actually there to help you easily line up the system to the charge port on the dock, so you cant dock it unless its properly aligned, since its completely digital storage theres almost no moving parts in the entire machine besides the fan, and that means no winding up for anything, no power lost to spinning up a hard drive, no power lost to a disc drive, they packed a bunch of tech into the controllers and the pro controller has all the tech thats in the joycons so you dont run into forced systemwide control schemes like wiiu and wii (doesnt meant games wont come out that require specific control schemes like 1-2 switch, but its not being forced onto game devs like wiimotes were)
i like 1-2 switch, its the perfect proof of concept game and that its a party game means people who dont have a switch can pick it up and play it easily which will help drive sales in the longterm (im torn as to whether this should be a packaged game though, if it was packaged it means everyone has it but the cost of the system would increase, not having it packaged means i can put that 10-30 price increase toward a multiplayer game i would play like bomberman or mario kart)
that arms can be played with motion controls or classically shows nintendo means it on the no forced control schemes, and between the 1-2 switch showing that games are not wholly dependant on you facing the screen and arms use of motion controls (along with the patent vr headset concept) is a HUGE red flag that vr is coming to the switch eventually
snipperclips looks deceptively fun, dunno how much staying power itll have but a coop puzzle game is a welcome addition
ill probably comment on more, but this is a good lineup, things are spaced out throughout the year and games that would come out on 3ds will start coming out on switch so no droughts and it ensures that supply has time to build up for each major 1st party release like mario kart 8 mario odyssey and splatoon2, more announcements coming up till launch and beyond like the fire emblem direct and 3rd party devs can now start announcing games means the focus will stay on switch without needing to inundate people with ads, and im betting more ports will start getting announced as well to pad out the switch lineup leading up to launch

I went ahead and bought a micro sd card so I will have it ready at launch as 32gb of internal storage isn't going to go very far. It apparently supports all existing micro sd cards which currently go up to 512gb. I bought a 128gb one myself it should be enough given I mostly buy physical games outside of indies and virtual console games.

According to today's Fire Emblem Direct.
Fire Emblem Warriors will come Fall of this year. (Will also have 3DS port.)
A brand new Fire Emblem game, and the first console FE game since Radiant Dawn on the Wii, will be coming for the Switch next year.

The Nintendo Switch might not be able to support dual VAs for its games. In an interview with Eiji Aonuma he says Breath of The Wild will not have dual audio because BoTW's games language, text and audio, settings are tied to the consoles language settings. The only way to play BoTW with japanese audio is if you change the consoles language settings from english to japanese, but then it would make the games text japanese also. This is something that might end up being applied to all the games released on the console. But this could also be beneficial to the console as it could make playing imported games easier to enjoy. The same interview states that even if you import the japanese version of the game if your Switch settings are set to English the game will be in english, including the audio. So maybe importing japanese only games could result in, at the very east, the text being translated by the system.

I think that additional option can be made (for Switch games) so the player can change/choose audio and subtitles that he wants. There should be a way to implement it, I hope. For Japanese games, I would always prefer to hear the original voice acting and have subtitles in any language that I understand. Maybe in Zelda they didn't try to implement these options (a bit disappointing), but for Bloodstained they can try to do it.

I hope nintendo realizes people would pay for Japanese VA and subtitles as a DLC at least... me, I'm fine with english, as long as it is well done... though the overacting of Zelda's english voice has scared me a bit... still, like many here I have preorded and will get the Switch and Zelda around my birthday

while itd be nice to have the option, meh doesnt affect my enjoyment, however the fact that we now have a system where you can import a jp game and it could have an english option and play on a european bought system means once devs figure out that they could hire someone to do translations while the games in development and put it up on the jp eshop (whether with a system based language or a language select option) and EVERYBODY can get to it semi easily means devs who dont want to deal with crazy/stupid censorship laws and normally wouldnt get their games out now have ways to release games worldwide, whether its physical and you can import it (final fantasy 3 on psp anyone?) or its put on the jp eshop like i said before and then you let gamers do the marketing for you and people will be given ways to find games they want as opposed to having to buy a 2nd system to import 2-3 games and not being able to read any of them just to see the game in its original form (or buying an english version and then dling a jp rom with a translation patch 3 years later)
