"Handhelds would become irrelevant because the system would operate as such"
I really, really hope this is the case when the Switch drops.

Yeah, me too. :) I just hope all of the handheld games that I love transfer over well to the switch, should this be the case. (Pokémon, Etrian Odyssey, Dragon Quest, ETC.)

I mostly look forward to playing Monster Hunter in HD on my big-screen again (hasn't happened since Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate). Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate and Monster Hunter Generations were both 3DS only--which sucked. Maybe Monster Hunter 5 can be on the Switch and therefore on my big screen.

That's one thing I noticed about the reveal. The Switch is perfect for games like Monster Hunter.

It runs on a custom Tegra processor, meaning it will be a bit above last gen home consoles in power. Devs stopped making cross-gen ports and completely switched to PS4/One development, do you think they will dumb down future installments of their games or invest a lot of money on creating separate game resources just to bet on the Switch market? How do you know this? So far its only just been revealed. If you can source a site to confirm this then by all means hook me up. Otherwise I prefer to remain hopeful. And besides, hooking a system up to your TV screen was an idea original to Nintendo. (Starting with the gameboy and GameCube, if I'm not mistaken) So doing the opposite is still a new idea. And if the price DID increase, I think it would be justifiable, if it means there's no longer need to purchase console and hand-held. Also I think it would be impactful to gaming, because if it goes off without a hitch, it could set a new standard for gaming. Handhelds would become irrelevant because the system would operate as such, as well. Just my opinion. That the Switch will run on a custom Tegra? It's all over the internet.

Right that's the one I couldn't remember a Tegra processor. From what I've heard there two chips the one being the underpowered one like you say and another one hat puts it around the league of the regular PS4 and Xbox One. If they use the first one like you say, you're right devs probably won't go out of their way to dumb down their games. If they use the second chip though then it's a different story. Now in the trailer we've seen that Skyrim game that I don't know much about but from what I've heard it could the remastered version. I haven't heard anything about a game like that being confirmed (real misleading of Nintendo) but if it is coming then maybe they have used the stronger chip? I don't know, I also don't know maybe a game like that is still able to run on the first chip so this example doesn't matter. Like I said we'll have to wait and see. It's highly unlikely that Switch will run the X2. There are two reasons for this: -It would raise the price tag well above $300. -Components with such specs would cap the battery life to around a single hour. Hey if you say so am no expert so I wouldn't know. I'll just wait and see what happens. Really for me personally the only non Nintendo IP I want them to port over is KOF 14. But this isn't just about me. If they can't find a way put some decent 3rd party support on that console they're just improving their chances to get screwed.

That leaves us with the option of Ninty sponsoring 3rd party support and I honestly doubt they have the cash to pull that off after the Wii U disaster. Nintendo literally has enough money that they could make losses on par with what they've had the past few years and it would take 100 years for them to go bankrupt. Plus, the 3DS is still dominating the handheld market, so Nintendo's at least making money from that.

So pretty much the size of the Wii U Gamepad. As for the 720p, again its like the gamepad. Bayonetta 2 runs at 60fps on the gamepad when playing off-screen, so if the Switch has the same tech as the gamepad, then its highly likely games will run smoothly on the switchs touch screen.

Not sure how I feel about the Switch being touch screen. It unnecessarily complicates the whole system. I feel they should just stick with controllers as input and the screen being just a display.

Again I bring up the fact that a lot of Nintendos recent games have been utilizing touch screens. If they want to get Super Mario Maker, one of their best selling Wii U games, ported onto the switch, which relies heavily on the touch screen, its going to need that functionality. Even more so if we want Wii U e-shop games being backwards compatible with it. They could just make the games be stuck in off-screen mode as if it were on the Gamepad and you got pretty much every Wii U game that's been digitally released made available for the Switch.
The fact that people are surprised that this console will continue to have it, despite it being a mainstay feature on the DS, 3DS/2DS, and Wii U, is kinda ... I don't want to say disappointing because I don't want to come off as condescending, but I don't want to say Surprising because many were hoping it wouldn't (which I initially did find surprising) so that mind set was very apparent in the beginning.
I guess I could go with 'Upsetting'? Does that work here?
Emotions are so confusing, especially when you don't know how to describe what your feeling properly.

So the thing has a touchscreen? Great, now you can enjoy struggling with whatever alternative they offer when the console is docked or have fun with a whooping 2 hours of actual touchscreen usage. That leaves us with the option of Ninty sponsoring 3rd party support and I honestly doubt they have the cash to pull that off after the Wii U disaster. I have created a new Hype thread... I feel this thread has become too negative. So anyone that still wants to get excited about the NS come over to the HYPE thread. if you want to share you thoughts, worries and hype about the NS come over. BUT if you do not like Nintendo or the NS there are other threads on this forum for you to share those thoughts... thank you.

^Oh look, my assessment of Switch's specs has been correct, provided this rumor is to be trusted. So the thing has a touchscreen? Great, now you can enjoy struggling with whatever alternative they offer when the console is docked or have fun with a whooping 2 hours of actual touchscreen usage. I don't know which of your two statements is a bigger exaggeration. Neither. Do you even realize how much money Nintendo is worth...? Somewhere between 20-25 billion. Do you think that all of that is money that they can just throw around? All of their assets, whether physical or intellectual, go into that and Nintendo can't go about spending huge chunks of it unless they are willing to sell things like their buildings and IPs.
