While we patiently wait new updates about our beloved Bloodstained, what about a great game to play in the meanwhile? =) A great reccomendation is Serio's Castlevania Fighter! It was developed in response to Castlevania Judgement dissapointment... Castlevania Fighter is a complete Boss Rush Mode game, in which you play as any of the following characters: If you're thinking:
- "What are those drawings?"
- Don't worry, the game itself makes use of the great 2D sprites we all love. There are custom sprites as well, alongside the original ones.
- "Reimu Hakurei?? Ronald McDonald??? What's that boring nonesense?"
- Firstly those characters are not boring, you should give them a try! Have you imagined beating Dracula with a frog? Yeah a green frog!! (not listed here) It's fun!
- If you just can't stand seeing those characters there, you can completely remove the Extra Characters roster easily by deleting file.
- "What about the gameplay?"
- If you've played any Boss Rush mode in any Castlevania, you know what this is all about already. Boss battle after boss battle. THUS this game features many bosses of divers Castlevania games. You'll recognize them with no doubt because the game uses their original sprites and behaviors with a few twists to make the game better (= There are bosses from other games too as special guests of some sort, but this game is mainly Castlevania related.
- Every character has multiple subweapons always available at their dispossal and can be changed pressing a button
- There are 4 levels of difficulty (Easy, Medium, Hard and Nightmare which really happens to be nightmare-ish)
- There is a store feature that let's you improve your character's stats. You can buy items to use in-game, like HP and MP potions.
- There are spells! YEAH! As in SotN!! Even transformations! Take a look at this example:
- You can even choose to play alongside another character against one or two other characters at the same time too! Ex. You're Alucard fighting alongside a CPU Richter against Dracula & Death at the same time!
- You can choose several palette colors for all characters. ALSO there are special characters that can be played in different ways. For example Simon Belmont can be played as Chronicles Simon, as Super Castlevania IV Simon or even as Castlevania 1 Simon, ALL these variations with distinctive abilities each!!

I've played it myself, it is really fun =) NIGHTMARE difficulty is too difficult xD as the bosses are much more faster and powerful, even they avoid as much as possible the item crash attacks, but enjoyable too.

Looks impressive, but also really hard. I'm a little intimidated. Remember you have multiple difficulties, thus you can start in Easy. Nightmare it's very difficult but achievable! So don't worry and give the game a chance! Just download it and play! It's funny and you have plenty of characters to try and find the one you play better! =) I tried playing it. I can tell that I suck but it's still fun regardless. Maybe you should try another character? I'm used to play now with Reimu Hakurei, and she's not even a Castlevania character hehe but I'm now playing great with her. Don't understimate any boss xD Also a tip: Don't just backdash to prevent damage, every character has a powerful attack (not only the item crash one), a normal attack that makes you invinsible for some seconds. You'll need to master those attacks to be able to dodge some enemy attacks =) ... wait ... it has Carrie? EEEEEE <3

I'm hoping and looking forward to Gebel. I'm still stuck on Gebel as a playable character. His visual design is clearly inspired by alucard and I like him. sillFam

Technically thats not true, it was announced the game would not be done in Castlevania style sprites, but in 2.5D Graphics. Meaning the game will have 3D graphics bit done on a 2D plain, like Smash Bros. or Dracula X Chronicles. We're talking about sprites that will be used for the 2D prequel game and the retro bonus area in the main game. We know what kind of graphics the main game will use. I'm pretty sure everyone who cares knows at this point. |

YUP Ixbran, I was talking about the 2D prequel and retro bonus stage sprites as clarified by ChucklesTheJesterAnyway, even Carrie made it to this game and I don't know any official 2D sprites of her, so Miriam, Gebel and company will eventually make it to Castlevania Fighter, as it is still being updated. We even have fan sprites right now, so it's a matter of time =) |

I discovered the game thanks to Touhou, as I was hoping to find a new Castlevania-like game. I played Koumajou Densetsou (Touhouvania 1) and I found Reimu is playable in Castlevania Fighter. I gave it a try and now I'm a fan! I haven't played Koumajou Densetsu 2 yet...
YUP I read about Frozen Half! I'm happy this game is still being updated =D
Anyway, what do you think about the story?
The story will change a lot they say, but as it stands right now, well it's a little bizarre.
So the playable enemies (Death, skeleton, etc) are trying to defeat Dracula to prevent him to destroy their own Dracula's dimension, thus they are trying to defeat that Dracula to aid his own dimentional Dracula??
Aaahhhh those time travels!!!
