Black Force - Spirit of Ancient Writings I really enjoy listening to albums and bands I find recommend on YouTube. If it has a name I like or a great cover art (like in this case), then I will probably try it out. This is my first time listening to this band, it's good. I really like the keyboards in this (or maybe they are synthesizers, I actually have no idea). They are the highlight of this album, often greatly mixing itself with the raw black metal riffs. And also serving as interludes between some tracks and introductions to songs, some of these songs are very atmospheric and even relaxing. Like in the song "Der Seherin Weissagung", a beautiful dark ambient track. I must say, I really like the artwork on the cover. I am fond of eerie art with a lot of lines on it (I don't know what this particular style is called), I especially love the green and dark blue in this, I tend to enjoy this or desaturated colours (that feel a little reminiscent of medieval art), and if not, then purple and red. The drums are really good in this album too, I also like the guitar tone and the dark raw melodies. Together they give this album a unclean feeling, without sounding fuzzy like a broken radio. You can hear the instruments fine, it's obviously still not some super production, but it's not meant to be, and it works nicely here. And believe me, there is a line between horrible production and being a good simple non-over produced album, if you can hear the instruments evenly, it's good, it doesn't need to sound too clean or anything. I would compare it to the artwork itself, it's dark and full of jagged lines on the shading, but you can tell what it is and it's good at that. If you took away these elements to make it cleaner, it would not be as dark and effective, and it's the same with the sound I should say. That said, I like the song " Voices" a lot. As for the album overall... Not mind-blowing (which again I doubt it's meant to be), but still a good listen.

While I had liked new reto wave/synthcore for a while (because Lazerhawk) I will admit I first heard this song in Teen Titans Go! But what can I say? It's a very good song.

MorningSun: good taste, and good album you brought up. One of my favorite relatively obscure releases of that year. Nothing jaw dropping, but extremely solid material. Lately, I've been returning to technical death metal which I had put aside for a bit. I'm re-listening to II from Vale of Pnath, one of my favorite records of last year.

I can't say I really know much about releases on an year, I just listen to what I like and what I find. I am not really up to date with anything at all. I just find music at random, sometimes old, sometimes newer. Whenever I'm browsing on YouTube I click on what looks like it may be of my interest. That said, I like atmospheric dark music, experimental works, ambient music and ominous melodic music a lot. So I like when metal implements some of that, whatever feels more different than the usual, as for more riff-based works, I like black metal and NWOBHM.

If you enjoy gloomy, dark and atmospheric music, with strong ambient inspiration, I have a band to recommend you among others. They're called Öröm, they're from Hungary and they have some of the most haunting dark ambient I've ever listened to, with hints of gothic as well. They have two full lengths, 8 (2006) and O (2015), and they're both excellent and unique. Give it a try and let me know if you like it!

Just listened to this today. The uploader made a jazz cover of this music, because why not?
The final boss themes of FE7 & FE13 sound eerily similar; and they make for a great mashup!

I'm listening to this right now (got stuck in my head yesterday for some reason), and I've been wondering... is it only me or does this intro song could be literally in any game's intro and no one would be able to tell it belonged to an american football game?
