I can't really argue with the poll thus far, those are my three favorite castles with Dawn's slightly behind the other two.
As far as the options I guess I missed the add additional option, so I focused on the main ones that are typically on the best of lists.

Why is there no HoD, LoI, CoD though? I'm not saying that my vote is on these but they should still be in there right? As much as I love both of them, LoI and CoD could likely be left off for the sake of sticking to the 2D offerings, but Harmony of Dissonance should be here. Well, then the poll isn't phrased correctly and should be "Favorite 2D Igavania castle-". I think that since Bloodstained is made up of 3d-Assets, looking back at 3D-Offerings to see what worked and what didn't could be valuable anyway. Thus it appears to me as an arbitrary exclusion.

Well, the topic is a discussion in relation to Bloodstained and Bloodstained is a sidescroller despite being 3D assets so i think it's phrased just fnie. Comparing LoI and COD doesn't benefit it at all because they're not sidescrollers and the level design because of that is nothing like it. Fixed poll, but didn't include Circle of the moon since it's not an IGAVANIA.

The only real thing to take away from the PS2 games is that they have very, very repetitive room design. Curse is easily the worst offenders in the series. I love Curse of Darkness a lot, it would easily be in my top ten, though I'd have to think if it'd make #5. But the ONLY things Dracula's Castle has going for it are the surprisingly gory aesthetic (entire rooms are dungeons covered in skulls and blood, it surprised me) and the absolutely fantastic and atmospheric track associated with it. They got REALLY lazy with repeating hallways and rooms, and thats the biggest lesson to take in terms of approaching Bloodstained, and we've already seen that wont be the case.

I think another thing that didn't work in favor of CoD was that it had a rather short draw distance for everything and it made potentially grand environments seem quite small and frankly a bit ugly. This might have been due to hardware limitations but I see something similar on Galleon Minerva with the background quickly fading into an ugly greenish brown. Personally I'd like this to change.

Yup, design wise Lament looked much better artistically and visually but EXTREMELY repetitive layouts.

Damn it's a shame CoTM isn't an Igavania to add it to the poll because that's the perfect castle for me. Balancing everything to near perfection, sequence break, right amount of plataforming, enemy placement, restricted areas, etc. Oh well, there are awesome castles in the IGAverse as well.

I sadly have never played SOTN (I do not own a PS Q.Q and for the few games I would like to play on there, it is not worth it sadly.) From all the Games I have played however, I think I'd go with Circle of the Moon actually. It had a lot to explore and many, very well hidden secrets, like the Skeleton Champion or Lilim. However, it was my first Castlevania, so I'm a bit biased

I kinda feel like CotM is underappreciated. :/

Dawn of Sorrow, hands down. Loved it. Especially the Garden of Madness. Though if I could pick again, SotN would be my second. :)

However, it was my first Castlevania, so I'm a bit biased It makes me sad to hear you haven't played (IMO) the best game ever made! Find a way to play it; it will be worth your time/money/effort. I have the original PS black disc, a digital version on PS3, and a copy packed into Dracula X Chronicles on PSP. You may find that SOTN's castle is your favorite. I feel like all of the 2D metroid-vania titles that came after SOTN could have been as good as SOTN or better had they been released on home consoles instead of handhelds. Imagine CotM, AoS, HoD, DoS, PoR, and OoE on more powerful systems with more resources. The music, the graphics, the CASTLE design...the list goes on and on. I have very negative views towards handheld gaming systems, but that is another topic for another thread.

Yeah, heard Sotn is supposed to be the best one, however, after the Wii came out I stuck to PC gaming. As a Student, I can't afford the game + a console that easily (Already had to hide how much I pledged from my parents) and I have none of the consoles it came out for >.> I really wish I had. I will definitely get the game someday though, quote me on that.
