But... he IS the monster in this scenario right? Maybe Miriam does look like a monster to bosses (since she keeps killing them). Ahaha. I suppose that would make sense. She ALSO steals their powers soo....lol "You came into my home uninvited. You destroyed my lighting fixtures, and stole my possessions. You mercilessly killed my pets, friends, and family. DIE MONSTER!"

Prepare to die, monster."

I'd like the Iga boss to be a Belmont style super hunter, with excellent attack efficiency and a variety of weapon attacks. Think Richter except elite AF.
He could act as a comical reoccurring rival like Gilgamesh in Final Fantasy, challenging you to duels periodically throughout the game, with better weapons, harder battles, and ever advancing techniques and patterns.
Show up to some menacing boss, then suddenly, Iga shows up and beats it in front of you, than he competes with you over the artifact or whatever the boss had on them. When he loses, he comically retreats and swears he will be more incredible next time.
Would be a wonderful amusement. By the end of the game, he's super powerful with weapons, artifacts, exotic attacks, advanced movement. Too often mega bosses are some huge blob of health and screen wide attack sequences which require you to dodge for 30 seconds than peck at them. It's time for the hero to test himself vs the ultimate hunter!

on the topic of backer exclusive, even though this series is my life I have no $. so having it up for grabs as 30$ dlc would be well worth it. also, having everything backer exclusive, without a paywall for other players, will mean that in the future this content simply wont exist. the next generation would never be able to see it.

I too think superboss Iga should be human-esque. From what ChucklesTheJester mentioned, try to imagine Julius Belmont with a hat ==> Iga: If development goes this path or similar, I wonder if players can be able to play as superboss Iga! Wouldn't it be really cool to play as Iga?

He can appear with Ben Judd by his side holding a microphone, acting as an interpreter translating conversation between him and Miriam.

I'm hoping for a boss that can pretty much be a super hard mirror match sort of deal. Like IGA would be able to use all forms and attacks that we can possibly use during the entire game.

I think IGA's boss fight should be the hardest fight in the game... and I agree that is should come after you beat the game... the player should find a key or something in their inventory after the final boss or in new game+ and find that one door they could not open... or it could be a box that contains an alternate dimension that pulls Miriam in after she opens it, waking up the occupant inside being, IGA lord of the night! he should have three forms one maybe being the joke form that they showed of him... the Octo-IGA but quickly changing into something awesome. Maybe his final form should be his traditional hat and coat, his "true" form. and after all is said and done IGA should dust himself off and tell the player that was some good exercise and to come again when they want to fight again. IGA should give the player the sword-whip as a "thank you" for entertaining him.
For the drops I don't think there should be backer only alchemy ingredients, that would not be fair... but I think there should be some weapons and a couple of costume drops... yes I am being greedy but hear me out, one of the costumes should be IGA's hat, coat and boots... so Miriam can cosplay as IGA. the other should be a "Dracula" outfit (maybe one of IGA's forms) and Miriam can cosplay as Dracula.
The weapon should be something special... good stats but not OPed... and the weapon he drops should be the weapon the player is using when they beat him... so to get an IGA hammer, you need to hit him with a hammer on the final hit.
Now for the backer only thing... I think this should be ONLY for backers! I know it sounds like a dick move but hey that is why some people backed the project as to not miss out on this "backer only" content. But... yes there is a but, I do think a "re-release" or a "complete edition" should come out maybe a year later with ALL the content. But yeah, the weapons should be a different color to show the difference between the original backers and the new game... Same stats but different colors. I personally think that is fair if the only difference is the color... because the players that backed the project from the beginning should have something that distinguishes them from the rest. Not that they are better but just showing that we were there.
I personally think it's not fair for the backers to have to back the project for "backer only content" then they turn around and sell it as a DLC... I think that is messed up. But I also want fans and players to be able to fight IGA as a boss...

I have a vision of the IGA boss being like a glorified version of Jiang Shi from Order of Ecclesia. Like others have mentioned, the boss should be very difficult to kill. Or maybe, you can't really kill him but, instead, inflict sufficient damage that ultimately slaps a seal on his soul. The seal would be easily broken if you hit him once more resulting in him being more peed off and twice as deadly but in a super-mutated form. Imagine him unleashing Mini-Mana summons! The drop? Hmm ... that's a toughie. While I think a magic hat could be cool to use as a lethal weapon (similar to how to Kung Lao uses his in MK) or a pair of shoes that enables you to walk on walls and ceilings, I feel hopelessly drawn towards a mysterious wand of some kind. Such a powerful wand having a profound effect on the user when it comes into contact on certain things or enemies. Perhaps the boss name could be called Kojiang Shi

the backer content needs to be available to others at some point. if not, then all of that content will eventually not exist, when the backers have died out. an example is skins and bonus materials given to beta testers of popular games, after the game has run its course, a new player that checks it out will never see this material. selling it as dlc is fine in my eyes, because it gives others a chance to have that experience. every dime I have I am saving up to fund my own indie project, so I will purchase bloodstained after I am done developing said project. that said, I am not going to miss content by my favorite and most inspirational dev because I didn't have the cash to back during development. iga is the reason I am here today working as a jack of all trades dev. without him I don't know what my occupation would be....

I've got to disagree with you dragonkd, the extra boss should be backer only content; thats what makes it a Special Edition of the game. It's a gift for those who've shown enough faith to give their money up front and help IGA's vision come to fruition. It's not like it's a huge chunk of the game that would be missing for other players, its just one enemy. It was promised as backer exclusive content and should remain that way - not just as a reward to those with faith in the project but also because IGA was really reluctant to put himself in the actual game because it's considered a vain act (you know how modest Japanese people can be). Fans wanted him to be in the game and he eventually relented so i doubt he'd want that content to be readily available for everyone to buy.

I agree. I do think he's got a good point, though. To illustrate, let's look at it like the game is Symphony, which we're now almost 20 years out from. If KS was a thing back then and used for that game with only people that supported it early getting certain desirable in-game content, in the present day that content would be nearly lost to time, not to be enjoyed again. Possibly even the people that paid for that content way back then, even if digital distribution existed, may not be able to access it again because of dead hardware and closed servers. This is a big concern for physical collectors. A full release including that content on a more modern platform would in the future be necessary for anyone to reasonably enjoy that content.
It shouldn't be as big of a problem going forward as it would have been from then to now, but you can still kind of see the line of reasoning. A lot can be lost in a couple of decades, even things in this case the backers themselves may have paid for. With exclusivity may come some degree of lifespan in this matter.

@purifiedwierdsoul that is exactly my point here.i understand others point on being mad that content they brought into existence by their pledging is exclusive, but its a bit selfish. I see sense in releasing it as DLC (not just iga, but all other backer content) for a fair price a year or so after all delayed updates are complete. this way, the content would be accessible, but far after the games initial lifespan. a lot of the people here on the forums are backers, but I am not and someone needs to voice the other side. every dime I make goes to funding for my own project, and considering I have to keep my job, keep my family, and deal with all aspects of game development alone, spending a penny away from it isn't an option until my project is released, even if that penny is on my hero.

I get exactly where your coming from but i think you're ignoring the cultural issue here, i like you have developed games in the past (thinking about starting another soon) so i know how much of yourself you put into the damn things, but i can understand IGA's reluctance to appear as a boss. That i think is the main issue here, whether he'd be comfortable with that particular content being widespread - i would understand if as DLC it were more expensive than average. To keep it as Special Edition and not just the Edition that everyone owns.

well, this isn't only about the iga boss. there was supposed to be a stage as well as the swordwhip/whipsword which would be one of the strongest items, iirc. so, in the end even backers will eventually lose their access to these goods, which means there needs to be some method of repurchase.
on another note, similar but not related to this, I plan on open sourcing my products after their market lifespan ends. this ideology stems from john carmack. not only will it ensure that the titles will never become abandonware, it will also be beneficial to the community if it happened to be released alongside another game in the same series launch ^.=.^

How exactly are backers going to lose access to the content? If you opt for the GOG version then you can just have a copy of the installer for the game on whatever hard drive and keep it there, indefinitely. I dont see a real need for a method of repurchase.
