I've recently upgraded from my LGA340 to an iPhone5. So I've been messing around with Pokémon Go lately.
I go on at least one 'Pokewalk' a day through my neighborhood. Despite its popularity, the app isn't really that much fun. It's basically just the 'walk back and forth in the grass and wait for a Pokémon to appear' concept from the main Pokémon games in the form of an app. But, eh, Go seems to be in something of a beta form, so I'll give it time to grow before passing final judgment.

As an Ingress player, I'd have to say it's not a beta. That's about as good as its going to get with basic concept.

So... I've had a little over a month w/ the "game." Given the crap that's happened over the last few weeks, it certainly still feels like a beta. I also have to wonder what sort of testing they do, when such simple things go bad... right now, there's some sort of bug where my first pokeball throw just flies right off the screen. Awesome.
In any case, I'm level 22 and have seen around 75 pokemon, just from daily back and forth to work (and hatching eggs).
The program is really shallow as a game -- not a lot to do, and the mechanics get dull fast. Really its only long-lasting quality seems to be an aid in exploration (and there are many other ways to do such things).
The blocking of the 3rd party trackers didn't really affect me, because again, I just use it when walking to and from work -- I'm not trying to actively chase down any pokemon.
It has been interesting, though, to see the 'rarity' of various pokemon. I only caught my first pikachu about a week ago, and my first diglett a couple days ago.
I have to imagine that the novelty has worn off at this point, though... would be curious what the usage numbers look like now.
