Yeah but there's absolutely nothing to suggest it's gonna ignore the survival roots. I mean a person might think that going by just the teaser alone but enough info has come out where we know that isn't true. Well, you made my own point. I'm going by the teaser alone because all the other stuff is cool that they talked about it, but we haven't seen it or know how they will implement it. I can only go for what I can see and have played. When a proper demo pops up with survival elements, then we'll talk about them,

I can only go for what I can see and have played. When a proper demo pops up with survival elements, then we'll talk about them, I don't think I really made your point, I'm just saying to strictly go off a demo that was made purely to demonstrate atmosphere and exploration. A demo that isn't taken from the main game and isn't the actual main character is premature. That part of the lead up to a game is to listen to what the developers are saying too. So people saying it's a P.T. clone for example is premature because we know from the developers that the game features many of your typical RE elements which easily separate it from stuff like P.T. They just did a new interview where they were asked what game is 7 most similar too. They said while the setting and story are completely different, the game feels the most like RE1. They also said the game has a stronger emphasis on exploration than action ( much like RE1) to help the horror

NEW GAMEPLAY TRAILER-
Things to note:
1. The gameplay is of a found VHS tape within the actual game. Think of them as an interactive file from the old games, instead of reading what happens to people we can play through it.
2. The game will have combat, they're just not showing it off yet. So please refrain from the OUTLAST CLONEEEEEE crap.

I'm not convinced yet. I appreciate the return to horror after the backlash against 5&6 (Though I honestly feel like the Revelations games showed Capcom still knew how to blend action and horror like 4 did to be honest). The first person view is seriously going to be a sticking point for me. Now I'm not INHERENTLY against a first person perspective, after all the Metroid Prime games were absolutely fantastic and showed that you could take something and faithfully transfer it to a first person perspective, but I cannot shake the feeling that they are trying to bank on the void PT left in people, as well as the overwhelming success of other first-person horror games like Amnesia.
I need to see more than atmosphere trailers. I need to see things that really help make this feel like Resident Evil. I'm not expecting the protagonist to have secretly been Leon all along, but tossing green herbs and a photo with the Umbrella Logo on it into what looks like a standard, if effective, first person horror game isnt going to cut it for me.
If nothing else I'm still excited for the Resident Evil 2 REmake.

They talk about inventory management, they talk about combat, they talk about the mansion but we barely get to see any of it each time they show it off. However, on paper this sounds like RE1 re-imagined in first person so if they can deliver that, it'll be amazing. anyways If they can tease this why not show it off in action, ease fans worries that this isn't some hide and seek game.

So RE7 in VR is game changing for me. Such a cool experience, the basement area genuinely shook me the first time.

I don't know if anyone's really been following this but it's worth noting how positive the press has been by what they've played : With only a few days till release it's worth getting HYPED
Here's where I get you on board with it, with a plethora of 4-5 hour impressions, and videos.
"The series is finally done playing catchup to 4. This is the confident re-imagining we should’ve got two sequels ago. All that matters is that it’s here now and it’s terrifying. If the remaining hours are as consistent as the five I got to play, few games in 2017 will come close to touching it, horror or otherwise." - PC GAMER ( link below )
www.pcgamer.com/meeting-the-horrifying-baker-family-in-resident-evil-7/
"What I’ve played so far has been encouragingly strong, to the point where this could easily stand alone without the Resident Evil name as a great horror game. The fact that it still can with that name attached (and its connotations of a melon-biceped Chris Redfield fighting bone dinosaurs) probably says more. The four or five hours I’ve seen has actually been one of the best things I’ve played this year, riffing the series’ familiar values off the uncertainty of its newer ideas to create something unpredictable and, above all else, interesting." - GamesRadar
www.gamesradar.com/a-four-ho...-one-of-the-best-things-ive-played-this-year/
"Resident Evil 7 displays both confidence and humility – a tricky blend to achieve. It hasn’t stubbornly ignored successful trends that have fuelled modern horror games – like the widespread shift to first-person – nor has it simply mind its own reservoir of images and characters to create new terrors. For the first time in years, the series has looked outside of itself and this has resulted in a meaningful evolution of the series. But this isn’t a departure, far from it; this is a homecoming. Resident Evil 7 breaks its recent traditions in order to better serve the original design. Once again, you’re alone in a sprawling gothic house, surrounded by terrible things, and you have to survive. It feels at once both old and new, familiar and unknown, and – for the first time in years – like the most interesting and exciting horror game around." - IGN

---Gamespot below and vid at the bottom.
www.gamespot.com/articles/resident-evil-7-hands-on-with-four-hours-of-horror/1100-6445818/
"It might look different on the surface, but everything that made classic Resident Evil so great, for me, is present in Resident Evil 7 - uniquely weird puzzles, a foreboding atmosphere, a memorable locale and genuinely intimidating enemies. It isn't action horror or horror entertainment - it's real, classic survival horror." - Eurogamer

Source Resident Evil 7 transports the long-running horror series to virtual reality, making it feel like you’re really in a creepy New Orleans house surrounded by deadly creatures. But there’s one sense that VR can’t emulate yet: smell. Luckily, there’s an official RE7 candle just for that. Called the “Resident Evil 7: Blood, Sweat, and Fears 4D VR Candle,” the object in question is designed to evoke the smell of the game, so that you can be totally immersed. Its creators claim that it smells like “old timber, leather, and maybe some blood…” The candle also lasts an estimated 18–20 hours, so depending on how much you struggle with fighting the undead, you’ll likely only need one to get through the game. That’s good, because that sense of olfactory immersion comes at a cost: the RE7 candle is a whopping $18.99. Of course, you probably don’t want your house smelling like blood when you’re not playing the game, so it’s suggested that you open a window after a play session.

I saw a leaked video today from early in the game and I'm soo damn on bored. Not that I wasn't already but god this game will be nuts.
