I would like it if we got a model viewer and a lot of lore text in the bestiary it would really be great to be able to see the monster models and zoom in and rotate them, I have a small monitor so while the models were easy to see in the demo a lot of their details went unnoticed by me and that stinks. It could be cool to have a simplified bestiary that tells you there hp weakness etc in the menu but to get details and stuff you have to go to the library. Or maybe an item that you unlock later in the game unlocks the bestiary in the menu but before that you have to go back to the library to check on enemies. I think it just being in the menu is fine though.

A "Bestiary" is a pretty common feature in 'vania games. Even the Lords of Shadow games had them. An image, a line or two about the monster, drops, weaknesses etc. I cant imagine Bloodstained not having one.
My favorite may still be the generic "Bat" from Portrait of Ruin. "A Bloodsucking Bat that lurks in the castle" or the Ghost "A small spirit doomed to wander the castle for all eternity". Stuff like that just added so much flavor and atmosphere.

Once in a while, I'll take a 'time out' from play to have a good nosey through the bestiary to refresh my well-being for the love of all the monsters. The description of Gergoth gets me every time because it has a deep element of sadness about it ... " Imprisoned in solitude long ago, it gradually grew evil and demented." One tends to think that, in an alternate world, Gergoth could've been an ally or friend. A bestiary is vital for any adventure game that has scores of monsters in it. In a way, it kinda reminds me of Top Trumps

Personally I think the Enemy Encyclopedia is one of the best parts of the games. It gives the enemies personality.

I just want to throw my support as well behind both a model viewer for monsters/bosses/major characters (rotate, zoom in & out, etc.) as well as a feature that lets you know where in the castle you can expect to find an enemy once you've run into them. The former is a good use of the 3d models this game will use and the latter would be super helpful when try to farm for specific crafting materials or what not.

- Number of times enemy has been killed.
- Number of enemy's shards that have been found (regardless of whether more shards still give upgrades).
- Number of enemy's unique drops that have been found.
All above statistics being additive in the case of New Game+. Would give some legitimacy to hypothetical pacifist / no items runs, assuming those are even within the realm of doability. Also: - A list of the enemy's various attacks, which must be filled out, either by witnessing or by getting hit by said attack (either/or), the same way enemy drops must be filled out. This list would of course animate the enemy using the attacks.

Something like what they had in PoR where each enemy had ??? underneath their name, and each ??? was an item (Or ability/spell) that you hadn't obtained from the monster yet.

Flavor text would be amazing, especially since most of the beasts are based on the Lesser Key of Solomon. Like with Magic cards, it could be written as a little story, as a monster quote, or as a journal entry (signed by whoever 'wrote' the diary entry for the monster.) Another example worth checking out is the journal in Squeenix's Bravely Second. Too many games with bestiaries simply have gameplay-related data (numbers, resistances, drops) which reduces enemies to nothing but numbers. Please get us emotionally invested to the bestiary.

A good example to follow might be Pokemon. Have you seen the Pokedex entries for a lot of them? There is some messed up stuff going on behind the scenes. That's to say nothing about the Pokemon who instead of wanting to snatch your soul just merely have body temperatures hotter than the surface of the sun or other nonsense. Prime examples: If you buy these Pokedex entries, a lot of Pokemon are more terrifying than your average Castlevania monster

Shedinja: (Ruby) Shedinja's hard body doesn't move - not even a twitch. In fact, its body appears to be merely a hollow shell. It is believed that this Pokémon will steal the spirit of anyone peering into its hollow body from its back.
Yamask: (Black) Each of them carries a mask that used to be its face when it was a human. Sometimes they look at it and cry.
:p Also sources from Bulbapedia!

Lol, those are some pretty dark entries. I always appreciated the way shin megami tensei handled their entries with some real life lore about their demons. I'm really liking the ideas here.

I would be down for an enemy bestiary like in Final Fantasy. It should highlight on the map where the enemy can be found.
