My one real criticism here: Miriam used too much hair spray, and now she's stuck with helmet hair. I know that her hair is more "styled" than we've seen from Castlevania protagonists, but some movement would be nice even if we can't get that Castlevania flowing hair.

There is one more gift hidden in this update. Next week, we'll get a look at what some weapons will look like when the demo hits. I doubt we'll kick and stomp our enemies to death.

Heh heh...I really need to stop trying to read every comment on the sites/articles for this game, I feel like I have to read them all as if this were my own game. Man... I think the music fits that calm before the literal storm that the stage is supposed to represent, so i wouldnt be surprised if the music really picks up when the ship comes under attack That's what I'm thinking, too. There's usually an exciting "castle entrance"/beginning level, so I'm thinking the ship is actually more equivalent to Richter on the stagecoach fighting Death before he arrives in the village. Kind of a feeling of tense anticipation - the rain and darkness are there as well. Death's own stage later is the ghost ship, come to think of it... I'm so relieved to see those purple lanterns, it's indeed obvious what they are. I hadn't seen 100% what I could say were candles yet, phew. Also, I like the treasure chests lol. edit: I will say that I hope that subsequent levels have a brighter palette, and I think they will in part due to this particular stage just going for a certain feeling. Just hoping for as little as possible of that feel of drab and empty space as with other recent 2.5Ds. edit2: Mana just posted with the Facebook account! She says that she will be delivering updates with that from now on as well. Good bit of likes/shares already.

100% Agree with this.
It's one of the reasons Dracula X Chronicles doesn't do it for me, it looks so drab and colorless compared to the original 2d game. Stay away from plain grey as much as possible. I'd also imagine the Cursed Orphan theme would play during the castle entrance, it's the right amount of upbeat that you'd need.

OMG D: It looks..... AWESOME!!! Can wait until E3 to see if my PC can run that at MAX settings though D: Anyways, the work seems highly detailed being on a stage earlier that beta, I only noted a couple things(I know this is still being on the works, but I wanted to mention my point of view anyways): - On 00:20, the dash, It gave me the impression that she stops for a moment before exiting the reduced space and then starts the stand-up animation, would not be better to start the animation until she exits completely that section?
- On 00:36, it seems that the scarf gets trapped between her legs (at least is seems like that xD)
I'm sure they already noticed that and also know this is still a WIP, but this couple of thingsdoes not affect the awesomeness of the work presented, that's how you create hype for the E3 xD

Wonderful! Everything works great together (music, scenario, movement, rain/wind/sky effects), and what a surprise to have a demo this early, that's amazing. From what they have showed there is no complain to be said, i just would add things to the scenario: random running rats and/or spiders and wind bouncing some spider's web around, perfect place for that. Scars Unseen complained about her hair, i can agree at some level with that, it kinda "bothers" me to see no hair movement specially when she's falling, well i pretty sure know how hard is to animate hair, i do not expect single strands of hair bouncing around but at least some light movement as a whole, asides from that her model movements are perfect. Also i would like to ask that the $28 tier could also get the demo since i believe it would be more fair this way, we ($60) already has the beta access and exclusive content. A solution could be give the demo to the $60+ on the first day and open it to $28 later (like july 1) although i believe it should get to everyone during E3, i mean do we really need to give the demo to the $60+ tier only. Anyway it's amazing to see how good the development is going, i feel like i want to play it right now. Now the torture begins, the waiting for the E3 and the demo release. And the mistery remains: why did they avoided that first chest and the other one?

Looks wonderful. I'm a bit bugged by the fact that Miriam flies through the platforms when going up and down but other than that looks wonderful. And the mistery remains: why did they avoided that first chest and the other one? No reason

Words can't express how happy I am. So here is an image. This is me. Even though my PC build isn't even started yet. (I'm getting there!) Also, am I the only one to notice the name of the level and ship being Minerva is a reference to the Demeter? (The ship in the Dracula novel by Bram Stoker!!) Bravo, IGA! Also, yeah we need some more movement in the background and with Miriam's hair. Good start, but the background looks dull compared to Miriam as well. I expect these to be fixed in the final product, however. It's only alpha. I agree with purifyweirdshard.

I was trying to think of what prior Castlevania/Yamane song the piece in this video reminded me of. The answer I think is this: It's not 1 to 1 but still feels pretty close. Makes sense I guess since these are both "starting section" songs

Whoa. Big update. I was not expecting an E3 demo, but finding out that it'll be available to backers as well? Nice! I'm impressed! The hype was real and the high expectations I thought people had were exceeded. Thank you to everyone involved with making this happen! I'm looking forward to the stream next week (June 15th). Romscout's a pretty good streamer and I like hearing/seeing Ben Judd and IGA make appearances. About five seconds into the video and listening to the music, I thought to myself "Yeah, this is Michiru Yamane's work." Her style is so distinct. I love it. The new track reminded me of "A Whole New World" from Aladdin towards the end. I'm surprised the Galleon Minerva is the first area in Bloodstained. When I saw concept art for the ship in previous updates, I had a feeling it'll be a later area in the game and it'd be docked in. Having it be the fist area in the game and connecting it to the narrative by having it sail to Gebel's castle is a pretty cool idea. I can see area being included as part of the main castle map once it arrives and the player can go back to the boat at any time instead of being a separate OoE or PoR-style map. This part of the update stuck out to me. Having all the enemies from the previous update in the demo sounds really cool. I'm glad they got their own update so their reveal wouldn't be drowned out by demo news. Also, Morte totally has a shard you guys. I'm still a little confused about the floating coin people pointed out at the 26 second mark and having a difficult time finding it. Can any post a screenshot of it or circle where it shows up? Also, I don't think anyone's mentioned the fanart in the update thread yet. I like the colors on the first one, I remember seeing jaeon009's on the forums and it's cool to see it get attention, and PistachiBow's looks really nice.
