I don't want to bash on the game, and I don't want us to dogpile on it either. I'm, well...just posting this trailer, and I do want to express the sentiment that I think the game itself will be fine, but...almost everything surrounding this project lately has been...odd like that.
There is some developer/publisher crossover for our game and this, and I don't say that to mean I'm worried, but that we should be a bit more courteous than we might otherwise be to avoid shooting ourselves in the feet. I think that things were more or less just taken in the direction Comcept wanted to go, and a series of unfortunate events and miscommunications led to delays, marketing mishaps and technical problems (the surveys that just went out didn't work at first).
Who is still excited for the game? I'm giving it a shot. It kind of feels rough how in the media, the struggles of MN9 are written in as selling points of Bloodstained in recent articles. It doesn't necessarily give me a "feel good" vibe kicking another game when it's down to make us look better.

I really want to support the game But all of the negatives with the game (due to bad PR, miscommunications to the fans) I will wait for a sale of the game first By the way, how much does it cost in USD?

I dont think its intis fault actually, i think inafune raided the cookie jars way too early with his plans for an anime and movie and sequels and red ash double feature, he took a very corporate way of saturation in a place where it takes a while for people to recover from the hype, and i think it really made mn9 suffer visually
However, looking at the gameplay parts the visuals work, where it falls apart is the close up and angled shots, where i dont think they relit and reshaded for that shot, they just moved the camera in engine
In any case i think the actions inafune took deserves to be analyzed later to see what works and doesnt in crowdfunding, but for the game itself im hoping its fun, which will be the real test of the game

Right, and as myself and Asty pointed out in the shoutbox, Inafune himself is making MN9 and Red Ash animes, so...what? How can you...ugh.
Yeah, it might be just Deep Silver here, but their recent KOF XIV trailer was pretty good. It's really like they're trying to appeal to a wider audienece, but they most likely wouldn't take to the game regardless.

Honestly, I think this is just one of those moments where they "rolled the dice" and lost. These things happen and they'll always happen no matter what. It's hard to recover from all the delays and the "hype" train leaving the station but it its sill possible to make a comeback. Not pointing any fingers here but there definitely things that could have been done better.
I want to support the game especially because I like to "equalize" but I'm honestly not sure anymore. As for the Bloodstained related articles that were playing on the faults of MN9, that is going to happen no matter what. I mean, look at what happened to Battleborn and Overwatch. Battleborn came out first but it got crushed for a number of different reasons: I would guess the Overwatch Beta played heavily in that and the fact people were comparing the two with opinions leaning more in Blizzard's favor.
Lastly...that damn "make guys cry like an anime fan on prom night" was in such bad taste it was almost unreal.

I dont think its intis fault actually, i think inafune raided the cookie jars way too early with his plans for an anime and movie and sequels and red ash double feature Exactly. For Red Ash it wasn't as terrible as it seemed, because from what I understand, they wanted to give the team members who were done with Mighty Number 9 a new project to work on ASAP. But there was absolutely no reason for them to even think about an "animated series" or movie or anything like that, because the game wasn't even out yet and MN9 is very far from an established property. It was very very silly.

Finger pointing at Deep Silver... I'm sure many fingers will be pointed because of MN9. I'm sure many hopeful eyes will be turned to IGA to make sure the quality we expect will be delivered from Inti. I will be relieved when the publisher is announced for Bloodstained. Wonder when that's gonna happen...

I have faith in IGA 8) Really though, even at this early stage Bloodstained is looking better than MN9--I'm not just saying that, but it seems to me IGA and the Bloodstained team avoided a lot of the pitfalls that hit Inafune. 1: Unreal Engine 4 is still supported and seems to be much easier to work with than UE3, which stopped receiving support while MN9 was being developed, I think. 2: The Bloodstained team seems to have a better sense of focus. While I can understand why Inafune wanted to get started on Red Ash ASAP (if folks were finished with work on MN9, it made sense to have them set up on a new project), but some of the other stuff was distractions. I can't understand why anyone thought it was a good idea to even think of a MN9 animated series or movie before the game was even out. 3: From what I understand, the 3ds was a significant bottleneck (in terms of graphics and a lot of other things) for MN9 as a whole. Bloodstained, fortunately, doesn't have to worry about that. 4: More abstractly, I think IGA just has a better handle on the aesthetics of the games he's trying to build on than Inafune did. Granted, some of this may be due to the aforementioned graphical limitations of UE3 and the 3ds, but still...I mean, just look at Miriam's *test* animations alone. IGA remembers exactly what people liked about how Alucard moved in SoTN, along with little details like the glowing crystal sparks coming from Miriam's back. Looking at MN9 as it's close to release, it seems that team wasn't paying as much attention to what people loved about Mega Man's enemy, level, and character design, resulting in a game that looks considerably more generic and considerably less interesting. Now, as we all know, it's still a long road to release and many things could go wrong. But I still feel safe in assuming IGA has a better hand on things than the MN9 team did, because of how well things have been proceeding lately, as measured by the updates.

I agree with everything gunlord500 said. I would be one of the people concerned with Inti if it hadn't been for my talk with Matt Papa, the obviously brilliant talent that has been displayed from Natsume-san and Ippo, and the amazing detail I saw in the background of shader 3 & 4 (although I dont know if that was an Inti or an Artplay creation). If I were just judging by MN9 and shader 1 & 2 backgrounds, I'd be a bit more concerned. Ultimately, I fully trust IGA in making Inti produce the quality he expects. Matt Papa was clear that was paramount.

So thank you. Please don't totally regret that decision to back a dream, because it helped pave a road that lead us here.

However, I do not live in the past and I can only live in the present moment, the future is unwritten. ONWARD TO BLOODSTAINED!!!!

just means inti will keep a tighter quality control on any future trailers after this, just one of those pitfalls any dev team falls into eventually

"Cry like an anime fan of prom night"?
1. I don't think it's a good idea to take a potshot at a large chunk of potential consumers like that. Especially after all the negativity the product has already been hit with.
2. That seems more then a little hypocritical, seeing as they are making a MN9 anime.
Honestly, whenever any company tries this 'get hip with the kids' approach, it almost always turns out horrible. The narration was cringe-inducing and the jokes weren't funny at all. (To me at least, I understand humor is a subjective matter.) It utterly failed to sell the 'crazy addictive' gameplay, doesn't really explain how the dashing and comboing would help you beat or explore levels, and etc.
So, why do the explosions look like pizza?
Best to look at the trailer as a learning experience of how to not try to sell your product. To be frank, the only good thing about MN9, is that it paved the way for other gaming Kickstarters like Yooka-Laylee, Shenmue 3, and of course, Bloodstained.

I thought the new MN9 trailer came off as dumb and mildly annoying, but I'm honestly not bothered by it and I'm cool with the "cry like an anime fan at prom night" line.
Exaggeration is a big part of comedy and jokes are often directed at certain people, situations, or things. The line didn't strike me as mean-spirited, it wasn't deliberately trying to provoke people, and my friends who like anime and I make similar jokes all the time. This is one of those situations where I feel it's better to just ignore it or laugh at myself. Things like that line are only as powerful as people allow them to be, and it isn't something I think is worth getting angry over.
When thinking about the trailer from a marketing perspective, I don't think it was aimed at the game's target audience (gaming and anime fans) to begin with. The way it tried to include humor and explain the game's abilities in a simple way gave me the impression it was aimed at a wider demographic or casual fans who don't follow MN9's progress as much.
