There's the obvious stuff, like items that can only be found or secret bosses that can only be encountered in NG+. But I'd like to suggest something else, something that as far as I can recall, I've only seen in the DS game, Final Fantasy Crystal Cronicles: Ring of Fates.
I'd enjoy some kind of 'New Game+ Hard Mode'. Like, the stats of all enemies are raised to challenge a max level character. Basically, the enemies at the beginning become on par with the late game enemies of the initial run, and the enemies of the game go up from there. Perhaps after completing that mode, you unlock some sort of 'New Game+ Expert Mode' where the entire game is balanced with a completely maxed out Miriam in mind?
I really like the concept, it makes NG+ a lot more interesting because a lot of games that offer NG+s can get really, really boring. (Though the option to go through the basic game with your upgraded Miriam should still be in.)

Not sure how much relevance there is to 'this potential guest character already has an amiibo'. Though I do agree that Shovel Knight has more of a shot then Miriam. I'd personally enjoy Miriam more, though. She'll probably have more moveset potential as well.

I think it's too early to assume that this is an entirely new Switch Smash Bros, despite the 2018 release date. For all we know, this might be the rumored Switch port of Smash 4 for Wii U & 3DS. (Though, in fairness, this is unlikely. Nintendo has never done that for SSB before) I find it extremely unlikely to be a port. With the other Wii U To Switch ports, Nintendo was very upfront about that fact that they were just updated ports. Look back to the reveals of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Pokken DX, and the upcoming Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition for proof, in all cases they clearly stated it was a port with some new goodies, and weren't as vague about it as they were here. Hyping up a game like this only to reveal it to be a port would be a foolish idea. (Which, admittedly, Nintendo has had from time to time.)
Furthermore, if it was just a port, I think Nintendo would probably call it 'Super Smash Bros. For Nintendo Switch'. Though for the extent of the moment Nintendo is just calling it Nintendo Switch Super Smash Bros. (Working Title). I don't buy the idea that they would notably put in 'working title' if it was just a port, no matter how updated it is.
Also, consider the fact that the title card seems to employ a different font for the letters. Why would the font be notably different if we're just looking at a port?
I will not eat poop if it turns out to just be a port.
But anyway, thinking of the roster. Honestly there aren't many characters I would like to see/want to see anymore. Most of my favs are either already confirmed (ex. BoTW Link, Inklings, etc.) or are shoe-ins due to consistent appearances in the franchise (ex. Meta Knight, Pit). If I were to list some characters I would like to see...
Rex and Pyra: from Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Never actually played the game, but I do like their designs a whole lot. (Moreso Pyra.)
Alm and Celica: The proliferation of FE characters in Smash 4 was something of a meme/complaint, but if 5 continues the 'added characters promote upcoming or recent Nintendo products' then Alm and Celica would not be unreasonable adds as they are the protagonists of the most recent FE game. Failing Alm and Celica, perhaps the Lord of the upcoming mainstream FE game on Switch. Could possibly be an early bird appearance much like how Roy was in Melee and Corrin was in 4.
(While I paired these entries, I'm advocating for four separate PCs, not Ice Climber-esque combo characters. Speaking of...)
Ice Climbers: Release them from your dungeon, Nintendo!
Waluigi: I'd like to see him be promoted from Assist Trophy to playable character.
And that's about it for new characters I would like to see.

Alright, I'm usually not the person to talk to for analyzing silhouettes, but I took a crack at the scene where they're in front of the Smash logo.
From left to right, I think I can see...
? Pit Donkey Kong Peach Ness Marth Mario Link ? Samus Palutena Bowser Fox ? Kirby
Don't take me as some kind of official analyzer skill, though.

I was wondering who was holding that cross/wand thing, as I couldn't remember any SNK character who wielded something like that. Turns out it's given to a character that never held it in the first place, lol.
Thinking that Sylvie Paula Paula will be in the roster. She seemed to become reasonably popular after KoFXIV released, and I'm fairly certain that one of the silhouettes is her.

Nightmare's new Super/Critical Edge looks like it could have drawn some inspiration from an SC1 era artwork.
It's basically a horse with horns (no, I don't consider this creature to be a Ram), the horns were probably intended to resemble those long elongated bits on Nightmare's claws.
I hope his steed is a thing in the actual plot as well.

English version of same trailer.
My main (Nightmare) and my off-main (Xianghua) are in. I'm officially fine with any roster decisions past this.
Kilik's transformation is quite intriguing, a reference to him going berserk during the 'Evil Seed' in the plot between Soul Edge and Soul Calibur 1, perhaps?

$60 physical edition tier.
At the time I had opted for a Wii U version. That's become a Switch version now.

If anyone wants to speculate about future characters, someone extracted the future character silhouettes from the official website.

Looks like Sylvie from KoFXIV directly above Mai. Girl with the ponytail in the top middle could be Fio. I dunno about anyone else.

The idea that we have to do a Dream Cancel to actually defeat opponents bothers me.
Regardless, it looks a bit... casual-ized. As well as fan-servicey as hell. I'll still be keeping an eye on it, and I hope that Hotaru Futuba, Iroha, and Hinako get in.

Link appearing as the guest on the GC version of SCII was the entire reason I got into Soul Calibur in the first place. Though the cast of SC contained many characters who would go on to become favorites of mine. (Nightmare and Sophitia in particular.)
If we got a Switch SCVI with Link as a guest character, then I'm getting the Switch version, no questions asked. Though the rumor people keep talking about is a Fire Emblem character (probably Chrom or Lucina) being the Switch guest character. If that happens, the Switch version won't have the pull on me that it could have had.

Scuttlest Wait, you're serious? A Soul-series character appeared as a guest in a Dynasty Warriors game? She appears in Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate (and only the Ultimate version of the package).
The Warriors Orochi franchise is a crossover between Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors. With some time travel and dimensional hopping to explain how 3rd century China and 15th century Japan are meeting.
Sophitia's first appearance cutscene in WO3U:
The problem with WO3U in terms of character representation, is that due to the sheer amount of characters (DW's huge cast and SW's slightly smaller but still big cast) combined with the new 'Mystic' officers as well as guest characters like Sophitia, a lot of characters are really only important for one battle or so in the game's plot, and Sophitia is one character who suffers this fate.
Altogether, only the (somewhat randomly selected) main protagonists, Sima Zhao, Ma Chao, and Hanbei, along with faction leaders like Cao Cao or Nobunaga, are consistently important from the time of their introduction.

I find it kind of funny that they announced guest characters this early, lol.
As for who it could be... well, to dream a little, I'd like to see Zhao Yun or Lu Bu from Dynasty Warriors.
See, some years back Soul Calibur's very own Sophitia appeared as a guest character in Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate. I think it'd be neat to see Koei Tecmo return the favor and let a DW character get into SCVI. Failing a DW character, maybe Ryu Hayabus from KT's Ninja Gaiden franchise?
I personally feel that Hayabusa is incredibly overrated, but him being in the game would definitely turn some more eyes toward the game.

So it's an MK9-esque reboot from the look of things, we're going back to an older game but pursuing a new plot. And considering that shot in the trailer where Sophitia seems to have a flash... forward, to later games, I think my MK9 thoughts are probably right.
I think we can assume that everyone who was in SC1 is in this game, but hard to say about people who came later in the franchise. It's fine with me, as Nightmare is my main, and Xianghua and Sophitia are my off-mains. Though I do hope later characters like Talim or Zasalamel can still get in. (And considering Zasalamel's story, he could easily be retconned to be a character in pre-SCIII stories.)
Though I say that Nightmare is my main, he's only my main so long as we're talking about his SCIII-V moveset. In SCI-II he had basically the same moveset as Seigfried. If they end up going that route, I guess I'll put my energies into Xianghua, even if the 'Just kidding!' ebbs my tolerance from time to time.

Mega Man 11 will have a new villain named Dr. Kinafune, with his creation MightyNo Man. MightyNo Man's weakness is the Promise Fulfiller, which you get when you defeat Honest Developer Man. After you defeat MightyNo Man you will get the Delay Cannon.
Alright, alright, I've gotten that crack at MN9 out of my system.
As for that Robot Master, if we didn't know ahead of time he was a rock themed RM I might have thought he was volcano themed. I could have thought that his body represents the volcano itself and the rock on top of his head represents some of the debris that a volcano spews when it erupts. But we saw his weapon used by MM in the trailer, so he seems to be pure Rock themed.
You know, ice is generally my favorite element, so I hope that we have an ice themed RM this time. They're not as consistently appearing as you might think.

For playable characters, I'd go with Mega Man, Proto Man, Bass, and Roll. (Provided Roll plays in the almost Zero-esque way she played back in Powered Up.) Maybe also take a note from Powered Up and let us play as the Robot Masters as well.

Sweet, this looks pretty cool! Maybe Capcom is bringing back their greatness after all. Between this and the recent rumblings of a Devil May Cry 5, I might convert back into a Capcom fan.

I am very pleased that it isn't an 8-bit retro product. That was fine it 9, it was honestly wonderful in 9, but starting with 10 it just felt like a lackluster attempt to sucker customers with nostalgia. (Trading on nostalgia is something I've come to dislike in the modern gaming industry. With some exceptions.)
Oh, and everyone, please don't be needlessly cynical about the idea of the game being cancelled. The game is likely already greenlit for production (unlike Legends 3, which while the product was still ongoing was never actually internally greenlit by Capcom), and barring massive problems shouldn't have any risk of that.
