Valefor looks like absolute trash. The CotM version looks absolutely superior in every way. The colors and textures are hideous. The "floating hands" style fit the boss way better than the "sleeves" or "arms" they added. The coins look horrible the way they clip all over. And the background doesn't even seem to fit the theme in any way like it did in CotM. I hope that it's just a different mode or something. On a related note, anyone else notice how the body is made up of coins that look suspiciously like the Smash Brothers symbol? If anyone has a clip of the Valefor model from the trailer to compare I would appreciate. Edit: estebant thanks for the pic

Ya, lighting is still bizarre and the background is waxy. Nice to have a release window though, and I still think the menus look great. Edit: Also Mana's art looks amazing!

I doubt anything will change at this point, but hyugakojiro is not alone is his or her opinion of the look of the game. Quite a few have voiced their opinion since the survey at the start about art direction. It's not something that will be redone at this point, but we surely haven't been silent all these years. The visuals aren't as important to me as gameplay and it won't be a point that sours my gameplay, but I definitely like the darker, more textured look of previous shots. If the game is as close to release as people are making it out to be then this will basically be the final look of the game.

1) Would you agree and/or contribute to a new Kickstarter for a Bloodstained sequel? A: Probably not.
2) How much would you consider to be "fair" as a goal if Bloodstained sequel required a Kickstarter? A: Minimum the same as what they raised this time.
3) Would you like if Bloodstained followed a consistent timeline (with each game happening after the other one) a convoluted timeline (like Castlevania, where games was released at different centuries and years) or a meta-like timeline (where each game happens at it's own universe, sharing common elements, like most Final Fantasy games) or some other way? A: For me a consistent timeline is a must.
4) Would you like to see any character from Ritual of the Night, in the direct sequel of Bloodstained? Who? Why? A: Most likely Miriam. Beyond that it depends on the story, I still think that Johannes is the villain and Gebel is a happenstance villain. Alfred would be good. My bets are also on Zangetsu having a spinoff.
5) Would you prefer if Bloodstained Sequel followed 2.5D like Ritual of the Night, or something else? (Such as 2D sprite graphics, or a complete 3D gameplay)? A: 2D.
6) Along the years, Igavania games tried to update or change the usual formula. While Symphony of the Night and Harmony of Dissonance, Aria of Sorrow and Dawn of Sorrow had mostly the same overall idea (Metroidvania gameplay inside a huge castle / fortress-look-a-like) some other games tried something new (Portrait of Ruin had portraits that teleported you to other scenarios, Order of Ecclesia had regions separated from the main castle). Ritual of the Night seems to have followed mostly the classic SOTN formula, with (as of now). Would you like if Bloodstained sequel followed the same formula, or tried something new like PoR and OoE tried? (or something else). A: As long as it retains the Metroidvania ability to backtrack I am not opposed to any major changes in game layout.
7) Main character. Male or female? A single character or multiple characters (like Portrait of Ruin)? A: As long as they are a character with a personality I don't really have a preference. I would prefer having multiple main characters, as in each character could be picked at the start of the game and you follow their story. Adds replay and can have more in depth story.
8) IGA has stated before that Soul Dominance was the best magic system his team ever created and he wanted to use it again, or variations of it (that's one reason of why Dawn of Sorrow and Order of Ecclesia exists). Bloodstained has the Shardbinder, that is a updated version of Soul Dominance. For a Bloodstained Sequel, would you like if the main character had a magic system following the same premise? (stealing something from enemies and using that as powers) or something completely different? What? A: I like to collect so any system that allows for hunting is great in my book. But I also loved the SotN system where you just had button inputs to cast spells.
9) Standard EXP and level, like most Igavanias, or some other kind of leveling system? (Like Lamment of Innocence, that ddn't had level nor EXP, but itens to upgrade Leon Health and Hearts) A: Igavanias are RPGs to me, if anything were to change I would like a system where you allocate your points or maybe a skill tree. Meaningful choices are way more fun.
10) Anything else you would like to add for a Bloodstained Sequel? A: Not to be insensitive, but with the platform cuts I would oppose releasing sequels on systems that weren't available to RotN on launch. That feels like it would be a slap in the face to current backers who won't be able to play RotN.

Well for Mac I can't even launch the demo. So I assume I would have to get a Windows license and download Bootcamp to even try it.

The hoops you jump through to get Wine to work is definitely not fun, and when you get something working (if at all) the performance is like 50% most of the time.

I find ratings to be... unhelpful. Mostly based on NA values. Where nudity and sex is less acceptable than violence, gore, and death.
The ESRB is a decent enough guide for general audiences, other than the previous point of sexuality being a large factor. So for a parent buying a game it covers most aspects required.
Then there is the fact that different people mature at different rates, but that is not something that can be subjected to a ratings system. I am very thankful that my parents were more lenient with what I was allowed to observe. My dad got me into horror films at a young age. When I was a teen, risqué material such as Heavy Metal and the 1977 film Wizards were no longer taboo. My father used to teach at an art school, so we had tons of Art Print Books lying around, such as H. R. Giger's Necronomicon, Roger Dean's Dragon's Dream, stuff by Frank Frazetta, Ralph Bakshi, Chriss Foss and others.
My parents talked to me constantly about everything, I asked many questions and I feel more well adjusted than my peers who were shielded from the absurd extreme. I would never have the interest in things not mainstream if it weren't for them. But I digress.
An ESRB rating doesn't promise much to me. The Smash Brothers series has been all over the place with their ratings. Zone of the Enders got an M rating. Donkey Konga 2 got a T. MK vs DC Universe was a T!? Phoenix Wright Dual Destinies was an M. And beyond that, just because a game has an ESRB rating doesn't mean it will be released.
Then there is the fee to get your game rated increases a company's cost of goods, it puts the pinch on Indie developers. I wonder the cost RotN had to pay, without it could they have offered refunds to Linux/Mac users?
All that said, the ESRB has been a boon to those trying to hold off continual efforts at government restrictions on game content and sales, even if a double edged blade.

I am a bit surprised so many people are happy with the lighting and colours. I personally find the stark contrast between light and dark is distracting and a bit much, I was expecting more blending of shadow. I get that colour, tonal, and texture contrasts are supposed to make objects pop out but it feels overly garish, Miriam being easily recognizable disrupts the scene for me. The stonework is very waxy and too clean. I will say I love the menus, very sharp.
But it's still a work in progress and just the first step, hopefully they will start heading in a darker direction.

@autumn Nothing really. I love the Metroid series, was on a meme kick, and Metroid Prime 4 being delayed is a bit of disappointing news, so I thought I would have a laugh at the only Metroid game to make me shake my head.

I feel the reason people fight things like this isn't about the money, but rather the morality behind it. Time is money, but many people are willing to spend their time in pursuit of justice.
Letting things like this go without a fight is basically saying it's okay to do it. It happens once or twice and you're like "Well it's not worth my time." But when it happens again and again you either step away from society, or you stand for your beliefs and say enough is enough.
Either give up and let people step on you or do something about it.

gunlord500 As a PS4 backer I would rather lose my chance at the game than have fellow fans go without. Honestly, this is a community. If we don't stand up for the minority then we aren't doing our job as fans. My friend, what the heck? People are making arguments here about suing because the team isn't able to fulfill their Kickstarter platform. You are willing to extend that to every single backer and scrap the game completely? I'm all for giving the community an organized voice and standing up for the minority, but not at the cost of the whole project. Understandable. But yes, I am willing to risk the game as a whole to make things fair for people who earnestly feel cheated. This is just a difference of opinions between you and I. I don't expect many people to agree with me. The longer this project takes the more practices I see that I don't like. I understand that some incidents are unavoidable, but I am very, very tired of giving the benefit of the doubt, along with not holding people accountable. Shifting of development teams and the argument "This was promised by the previous guys, not us." is taking it's toll. No one else finds this discouraging that there is very little accountability? I love this genre, the game, the creator, and this community. I want this to succeed. But at some point you need to ask if it should. Does this game deserve to be released with corners cut? I am all for delays. But that is not the problem that has me concerned. Hindsight is 20/20, but there seems to be a lot of things that could have been predicted. The biggest problem is all of this conjecture. We won't be able to look behind the scenes, and we won't know what can be confirmed or denied. I get that it seems selfish, risking other peoples game for the minority. I just can't stand letting people fight by themselves. I can only speak for myself, but yes, again I am psychotic enough to be willing to pursue equal results for others.

A lot of things make it hard to be excited for this game. But I believe in stating both sides, so I will start what makes me HYPE!
Alchemy. Trains. IGAvania. Orchestrated music. Hardcover art book.
Things that are making the experience sour.
Delayed release. Loss of multiple platforms (I chose PS4, doesn't effect me personally, but doesn't feel good to read). 2.5D. Art style. Lack of refunds. Difficulties with CotM. No demo for me (Mac PC).
So basically most updates recently are not good news. What's worse is the compounding effect of the bad news. I haven't read any good answers for people who only had the one system they backed on, they aren't entitled to refunds and they can't play.
Trying to stay positive though. Just hard to enjoy things when others can't. (Always been the type of person to not eat at a restaurant until everyones meal has arrived.)

Heck even the mini-game doesn't run under Wine for me*, so guess how much faith I have in the final product running correctly under Wine.

Additionally, if Mac or Linux is the only platform you were able to play this game, I don't think you should have backed the campaign at all. That is in my mind an enthusiast level decision being made from the standpoint of a non-enthusiast. I can't find fault with those who are upset, but I do find fault with those who act as if nothing could ever have gone wrong during the very beginning of the campaign. You should only buy Walmart, if you buy from a mom and pop store you are just deluding yourself. Just buy Ford, Toyota isn't a real vehicle company.
