Gebel and Zangetsu were my go-to characters in Circle of the Moon. I hope Gebel the GOAT makes it as a 3rd playable. Hell, even if he isn't the third character I'd love for him to be playable down the line. Same with Johannes.

I finally played and beat Harmony of Dissonance. In my last Castlevania marathon, I had completely forgotten that it existed. I was practically boasting that I had finished all of the Igavanias that weren't weird/"experimental" PS2 games when I realized I was missing one. I think I skipped it all those years back because I heard some of the music in that game and physically gagged.
Played it, beat it, and already forgot about it. I will say the movement is an improvement over Circle of the Moon. I didn't have to double tap a direction awkwardly to start running...however the fact that it depends on what direction you are facing with which button you press(L and R) was weird and took a bit to get used to. After that, it was second nature and I found myself dashing most of the time. I like the fact that the second castle ISN'T inverted...but getting to it is cumbersome. The game is almost as easy as Aria of Sorrow with quite a few bosses being flat out pathetic. The music didn't make me completely gag this time, there were two tracks that were tolerable to listen to. I think there might be even less story in this game than Circle and Symphony, which is interesting since Death is pretty prominent in this game. The back tracking in this game was a little obnoxious. Not being able to pick where I teleport to in mid-game to late game just made getting to places more tedious than necessary. This was a problem that was fixed with later entries, so I'm not going to harp anymore than necessary.
That's about it, I'm struggling to talk about things with that game. It's fine, I guess. It's my second least favorite 2D game that Iga has done. I can say that I'm more than prepared for Bloodstained now. I feel like a veteran of the series now.

Oh boy, what an update... The way I personally voted was for most backer exclusive stuff to be available to everyone eventually...for a price. Not available from the get go, so I'm comfortable in knowing what my own choice was. That clearly was not the result. That does sting. I have said time and time again to the point that I'm a complete broken record: "I prefer that they delay, polish, and work on a game until it shines as bright as it possibly can from the get go." That means complete story, as complete of modes as possible, lower possibility of bugs...and despite that sounding strange or impossible in 2019, it has happened. It seems like they are going with the Wayforward/Shantae approach, but not as scummy.(Overall terrible DLC design, not offering upgrade paths for early adopters...or even a discount, etc.) It looks like another Hat in Time situation where that game got all of content that was backed plus a random online mode that was NEVER planned in the first place. That's great! As long as everything content wise comes out as we have clearly asked for by backing this game to high heaven, then staggered FREE DLC is more than welcome. I do feel alright that my name gets in the credits, being a small part in starting a project, and I do like Iga. (I backed a total of about 125 which includes upgrading my initial tier 3 times. My initial pledge was 30 or so, then upgraded to 60, then upgraded to 100, and then adding 25 more for the hell of it) 40 bucks and getting everything I got minus some physical goodies...kind of burns a bit. I backed in the first place for the exclusive stuff. I'm not saying "I regret backing this game at all and I'm going to pirate or whatever", what I am saying is that this approach was definitely not the best and I am a bit disappointed at this situation. It is what it is.Again, I point at worse kickstarters such as Yooka Laylee, Mighty No. 9, and Freedom Planet( the latter two in particular as far as stretch goals just NOT being met) and say this could be a lot worse. Not an excuse, but a comfortable thought. I trust Iga, so I say good luck with the game launch.

I tend to forget that there are fans who prefer one style of Castlevania to another and can't stand the other. I guess I fall into that in which classic and "Iga"-vania are my go-tos and anything else is trash.
I loved Curse of the Moon. The only runs of it I haven't done are the "Neutral Endings", the No power up Ending, and Boss Rush.
I never cared about Steam Achievements or Achievements of any kind...but I can say that I got all the achievements in Assassin's Creed 2, which was so easy I felt insulted. I can't recall a single game on steam that I got all the achievements in. Never saw a point to that. I've only heard stories and even read an article about this one stay at home mom who just collects achievements all day(That was many years ago and they're probably already divorced, LOL).

A Hat in Time staggered the release of the extra content to keep momentum going as a recent example. It worked out in the end. If Iga added everything at once, that would be mad.

But man, you know, higher fps isn't always better, some things look really weird at 60 fps. Check this out: It seems like classic cartoons relied on lower framerates to keep the energy and appeal of the animation. I must be crazy then, because that looks fantastic. Hell, it looks like Cuphead running at that speed. But yeah, the apples and oranges analogy is more than apt. Too different to compare. As far as the Switch running at 30, it's a pity for a 2D game(2.5, whatever). Though I'm getting it on PC, so it doesn't affect me at all. Frame pacing and being steady(as well as camera in the case of The Last of Us on PS4) are just as important. Bloodborne would have been a lot better at 30 with steady frames and better frame pacing...but that didn't happen. It's weird with From Software.

I finally beat Castlevania Order of Ecclesia. After many....many...many years of restarting the game, after so much pain and anguish, after NOT DOING those maniac dungeons I have beaten the game. After doing so, I can say that it definitely isn't my favorite game in the series. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I've always preferred one location that has some twists to it rather than forest...sunken ship...prison...TWO HAUNTED MANSIONS....desert...mountain...etc. Maybe people preferred the change of pace, but I liked how Drac's castle had so much ridiculous stuff going on. A true creature of chaos. Speaking of that walking nightmare: I did like the twist that Dracula didn't transform in this fight. I'm sure the story reason is that "he was resurrected too early or too incomplete" or some such other. I was surprised to see him walking towards me with the Frankenstein Jr/Monster skeleton model. That was legitimate scary and funny. Bosses were hit or miss. Bojangles the skeleton, giant enemy crab, and the centaur formally known as Jennifer Garner were my least favorite. The rest were fine though Death was a joke this time around. What gives, what happened to the old man? Thinking back to my time with Beta Bloodstained, I'd be fine with the ship, town, and castle as far as locations. Maybe some ridiculous dark world that's an expansion/reinterpretation of the one from the Sorrow duology. Anything, but another upside-down castle. PS: I'm well aware of the recent trailer, I'm hoping that's either a gimmick for one area or a joke area. I'm also well aware that I'm in the minority of not liking the inverted castle. I did like the game overall, but it's not in my top 5. Top 10 maybe? Other than that game...Trauma Center? Hollow Knight? DUSK? Nothing unusual.

I only go on Reddit to look for advice on how to improve my life. I never, EVER venture into fandoms or fan-specific pages....and even the life/fitness/health advice pages I only superficially read for my own sake. Reddit is not a good place and it's only getting worse. On Hollow Knight: I appreciate Hollow Knight's visuals to a point and I do like how Team Cherry operates with the expansion releases and turning a previous expansion into a sequel. I'll even throw in respect for taking a modest kickstarter that didn't raise all that much money in context and making a huge hit out of it.
I'm just not that big on it. I may not be far enough in it, but the amount of psuedo-intellectual anal-cyst videos fellating that game genuinely makes me shake my head. Not "cringe", because I honestly hate that word and what it's turned into. It's not doing much for me due to the combat and the music. I don't like how limp combat feels. It doesn't feel all that satisfying and I think this would be remedied if I could use a different weapon rather than just changing my magic attack. Also, outside of one song, the love for the music legit baffles me. None of the tracks were particularly memorable for me. That's my take on that, but as far as the actual topic I was always fine with the term Metroidvania. The fact that people have so many different criteria for it or even subgenres for it boggles my mind. I remember seeing one of those anal-cyst videos where the guy said that Symphony of the Night wasn't a good example of the genre...but Hollow Knight was. Ok...sure. Fine.

purifyweirdshardYep, that's all news to me. I will say that Mana seems like a great artist and I guess she's doing a good job with translation work? If I had taken my New York Trip(and by extension, my first Comic-Con trip) in 2017, I might have encountered both Iga and her...but I went in 2018. I did meet Angel Corelux at Pax West 2018, but it was for Indivisible and it was a coincidence. He told me Iga was there, but I couldn't find him in time. On the subject of colors, I didn't pay too much attention to the screenshots. Looking at them again, I can't say much. I have trouble distinguishing dark colors, so as long as I can see my character I'm square.

Just so I'm crystal clear, Inti Creates is no longer involved in the development in this game?
I noticed that Iga mentioned Dico, Wayforward, and Artplay. Unless Inti Creates goes by another name, are they no longer part of the team?

Indivisible should be more than straight as far as public perception. Unfortunately, most keep forgetting it exists due to actually taking the time to work on and refine the game rather than spamming social media. SHOCKING. Not to mention, from the word go it already had a demo and was already pretty well received. Then they go on to patch the first demo and then make two other demos, one available to the public and then patching both. None of which was all that necessary, but they did it anyway. The fact that more people don't know about, like, or respect Lab Zero is kind of sad. Aside from Mike Z's blunt nature, everything is solid across the board. They even already have a good track record with crowdfunding.
As far as Bloodstained and MN9? I still think Bloodstained is doing alright as there are far more updates for it than MN9 did. The fact that the only points of controversy are graphical quality and cancelled ports is a better sign than you think. Mighty No. 9 still has quite a few ports that have yet to come out at all, with no news on them. No official cancellations.
Graphics(while not a concern for me in the slightest) can either be improved through updates or improved by fans in the worst case scenario. Post launch updates have been all but confirmed. Why stop with MN9 though? Freedom Planet had three major expansions funded with only one of them coming out and the other two basically cancelled. Shovel Knight favors a bit better by staggering all of its content for later, but I'm sure people were a bit miffed that this would happen in the beginning. What about Star Citizen that's been delayed more times than anything mentioned, is still taking funds, and had a disastrous demo. Not everything goes according to plan, but just because there are setbacks doesn't mean it's a disaster.
I fully expected Bloodstained to be released by latest 2020 anyway. This sort of game needs a lot of polish and the scope that we all helped fund made things a lot more difficult in that regard. I hope for the best with both Bloodstained and Indivisible.(I'm still mad about Freedom Planet though, even if I enjoy the game and look forward to the sequel....which won't have anything to do with the promised expansions to the original)

I tried to wait. I tried waiting to talk about this, but I can't. I went on an absolute Castlevania bingefest. It was practically a marathon. It all started with the release of that Rondo of Blood/Symphony of the Night collection dropping on PS4. Awesome, now I don't have to dig out my 360 to get closure on Symphony. I had already beaten Rondo of Blood some years back and still thought it was my favorite Castlevania game ever made. It was about time that I finished the sequel. However, there were other games caught in the crosses and holy fire: Super Castlevania 4:
I played this game on and off, but never sat down to fully complete it. I'm so happy that I finally did. Everyone talks about the amazing control and the visuals of this game. I don't think that does this game any justice. These controls are fantastic and they really went ham on the mode 7/visual trickery. I think this game might have one of the best versions of Bloody Tears. I love the percussion in that piece. It is on the easy side...in fact it's very easy, I still don't see why this style of game couldn't have been improved upon and given more challenges. A Doom 2 to the original Doom, if you will. It's a shame we never got anything to fully follow this up. Castlevania Bloodlines: I had originally played this and got to stage 5 or Stage 6 and never finished it saying I would come back to it.(That's going to be an ongoing theme, by the way) I wanted revenge, and I finally got it! This game is extremely underrated. I never understood why it was never ported. I mean, yes there's a ton of blood and gore(a surprising amount, but it was rated General Audiences. I love swinging and super jumping in this game. The fact that I'm traveling across Europe gave me this idea that Eric and John have some sort of cool car or an airship. I know that might not be the case, but it gave me funny to think about. I also love the sound effects in this game, even the extreme twangs of the Genesis. The whip noises for me are a highlight. It's easily in my top 5 CV games and that music is still blasting in my head as sit down to write this. Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin: AKA the real reason I went back to Bloodlines. This game is a mess, but I still really like it. Why do I call it a mess? Out of all the DS Castlevania games, this one froze on me the most. A grand total of SEVEN TIMES, this game froze on me. Not only that I hate this game's art style. Weird that the one game that features a story involving paintings and they chose NOT to use Kojima's art. What a weird missed opportunity and I hated the art style they used for Dawn of Sorrow as well, so I'm not solely picking on this game. Maybe it's just me, but I find it weird that the only character to have a real arc is Johnathan. He starts out weak, dumb, and has this whole "my father was a dick" arc that by this point I had gotten sick of. Also his subweapons start out as trash...in addition to finding them. You have to level them up...also he can't use the Vampire Killer until he proves his worth. So, if you do all this and progress in the story he becomes the better character story-wise. Charlotte starts out perfect and ends perfect. Other than finding her spells, there's no real progression with her. The whole not wanting to be treated like a child isn't a character flaw, it's a quirk at best and simply requires showing her some basic respect. I like her, but she's the unofficial mentor seeing as how most of the "Talk" conversations are either her teaching Johnathan how to play the game or scolding him for not doing good enough. One last thing, I hated every Circus level. The music, the color palette, the enemy locations, and overall level design came together to give me the biggest headache.(I'll go more into this for Symphony of the Night) Now that I'm done with all that, let's talk about what I actually liked. Johnathan's subweapons, once leveled, became my go-to MP use in the game. I had a ton of fun finding and trying out the new weapons. Richter Belmont's weakness...is a banana cream pie. I can't even begin to make this up. I started off not caring for the music much, but then I kept running into different paintings and being floored by some of the remixes. Cross your heart(crucifix your heart?) and Iron Blue Intention are the clear highlights. The latter of which hammers home the whole "Sequel to Bloodlines" feel the game has. The boss fights, save one, were all fantastic. My favorites were The Creature(NOT THE ONE FROM THE NEST OF EVIL WHERE YOU HAVE TO FIGHT TWO), Death, The Sisters, Brauner, and Richter. While I found it weird that John and Eric weren't playable as Gaiden characters in a sequel to THEIR game, the extra playable characters were fun too. I enjoyed this game a lot more than Dawn of Sorrow and I think it functions better as a direct sequel to a previous game. It's the second best DS CV for me. This game didn't make my top 5 though. AAAAANNNNND now for the main event: Castlevania: Symphony of the Night:As I said earlier, I've restarted this game more times than any other Castlevania game. The reason why had nothing to do with the difficulty. The reason why, is due to laziness and boredom. The game IS NOT BORING in the least, but my attention span back then and even these days is weak. I'm working on it slowly but surely and this genre of game can be played piece-meal, I think the real fun is binging the hell out of it. That's when my chance to finally put this game to rest came with the PS4 re-release. I had always thought that the so-called most popular and best game in the franchise didn't get a steam release or multiple ports by now. It got ports, but not the ones you would think. The 360/XBLA one was the one that introduced the game to me, so thankfully I avoided the load times. I did get to experience that AMAZING voice acting. A fun tip about that, apparently the voice director was telling the actors to inflect their words in weird places rather than how they would naturally say it. My friend told me that was why the original voice work in that game was so weird. A good explanation that I accepted, because the voices in the game never struck me as bad. Robbie Belgrade is still my go-to Alucard. This is why it pains me that they went with the PSP voice work instead. I know the PS4 port was a port of the PSP port...(say that 10 times fast), but come on. That original voice work is legendary and I still find myself quoting it. The PSP acting is fine, a bit wooden, but fine. Yuri Lowenthal is NO Alucard. Patrick Seitz is a generic Dracula; he's nowhere near as legendary. There was one awesome thing about the PSP port, some of the extra content from the Saturn version was brought over. I capitalized on this by going after the extra familiars and making the Fairy sing. Nocturne the english version is still a beautiful song. I could listen to either version and be enraptured. I've been beating around the bush a bit, so I'm going to get into it for real this time. I completed the game with 198% castle completion and I used about 40% of Alucard's moveset. I didn't use spells, fists, most of the familiars, or good portion of the weapons. The second I got the shield rod, it changed how I played completely. I used that until I got to...that second part of the game. That's when I found the Crissaegrim and I proceeded to ignore every other challenge in this game. My restarts had nothing to do with difficulty, I would just stop playing thinking I would go back to it...and never do. Then I would come back 6+ months later...forget what I was doing and figure I wasn't that far in the game anyway so I'll just restart. Rinse and repeat. I love the spritework in this game...though at this point I had played later games in the series of Metroidvanias/Igavanias so I was already used to seeing the monsters re-used. The music in this game, is really good. Not my favorite OST in this series, that goes to Rondo of Blood, but a lot of great compositions. My favorite track is Wandering Ghosts. It's funky as hell and just like Opus 13 and the Ghost ship theme from Rondo of Blood, it never showed up in the series again...*sigh* By the way, I didn't bother playing Richter or Maria mode. I started them up just in case I get the bug to try them out, but I don't like how they feel like extreme glass canons...especially Maria. I'm also no good at the button inputs. I'm a fighting game player, but having to press up messes with me. I'm used to quarter and half-circles. That's also why I didn't use spells that much. I'm going to talk about the inverted castle now. I hate it with a passion. I told my friend this and he sent me this image: I'm still laughing about this. The inverted castle comes across as lazy. It's only challenge is in the enemy placement, which went from fair and balanced to stupid. I didn't like having to constantly turn into a bat for mundane traversal. I didn't like having to turn into a wolf just so the cavern levels would register the water sections on my map. It feels like broken pieces of level design slapped together...just like the circus levels from Portrait of Ruin.(What, you thought I forgot about that?) THIS is why, I'm hoping...PRAYING that Bloodstained doesn't borrow every single element from Symphony. Symphony is still fantastic and it is definitely in my top five CVs, but that inverted castle is a low point that I never want to see repeated. I am so glad, to have finally beaten Symphony of the Night. If I ever come back to it, I'm playing the 360 port or the PS1 classics port because I NEED "DIE MONSTER". PS: Fuck Galamoth. What an asshole he was, even with the Crissaegrim. How could the nicest guy on this forum be such a dick. ....justkiddingIloveyouGalamoth You know what? I'll throw in a bonus: Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia: I'm not finished with this game yet. However, I did restart it multiple times as I did with SOTN...the second most I believe. Why is this? Emulation across different computers...until I finally had the money to grab a physical copy which the price finally eased off. So far, I'm having a great time. Due to my experience with these types of games now, I'm a lot more comfortable with the difficulty than someone just starting out. The art style is fantastic, Shanoa and Albus are great characters so far, and I love the music. The glyph system was a bit weird, but it's made me catch the completion-ist bug as I want to get as many glyphs as I can. I don't really care for the magnetism mechanic. It's ok, but I would have preferred the super jumps of old. My favorite part of this game is the 3 glyph set slots. This is what I'm hoping caries over to Bloodstained. If there's a button unused, use it to switch between equipment/shard sets. I am either half-way through the game or a good quarter in, but I have no intention of stopping ever again. I'm hooked. That was my unintentional Halloween marathon. I was going to go through Silent Hill 2 or something, but I ended up doing Castlevania instead. What a ride this was. I've come to know some personal favorites. Hell, I even want to go through Rondo of Blood again just to experience that soundtrack and beat alternate stage 5 with Richter only. Cheers everyone.

Actually Pure Miriam, I would like *YOU* unlocked from the start. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
It's sad that I forgot that some of these modes were even a thing. The game is already the biggest game Iga's ever worked on in terms of size and scope and now there are these modes.
Initially, I had the same thoughts Redogan about what you meant. I had always found it weird that I needed an item before I could see what I was fighting, but I ignored it.
I'm putting my votes in for the Speedrun mode, Online Challenge, Local Co-Op(how was this supposed to be done again?), and Classic mode. I had figured classic mode would be obsolete after Curse of the Moon, but variety is the spice of life.

I actually didn't want to go into detail of what bothered me this season, but it seems like everyone else did it for me. I ESPECACIALLY agreed with XombieMike, but somehow...I think a certain part or two needs my own explanation. On a certain vampire right quick: I do want to comment on Godbrand though. My favorite part of his character is that he's voiced by Peter Stormare. He's such a large ham in everything that he's in that it kind of added to his comedy. Look him up if you thought his voice seemed familiar, because it probably was. I don't think that's a spoiler since that's right on the IMDB page, but I'll put it in tags anyway. Okay, here's the real meat...porkchop(?) of my remarks: On Hector: What pisses me off about Hector's inclusion isn't that "he went out like a bitch" per say. It's that his entire character...his entire purpose in the story amounted to indirectly creating some holy water. The very first backstory we got on his character wasn't even animated. He got two animated backstory/flashback scenes that didn't involve the crux of his descent into "madness", for lack of a better term. I think that was a fundamental mistake, despite the "voices in my head" scene being decently done if a bit awkward. His two animated flashbacks were him playing with a puppy and then SKIPPING THE FIRE...and talking to Dracula. Compare that to Isaac who not only got his descent into "madness" scene animated, it actually was brutal. Why did Isaac's story get animated and not Hector's? I can think of a scene or 3 that could have been cut to give them the opportunity. Back to the Holy Water thing, I think back to every scene with Hector and it involves him getting belittled by feminist self-insert personality Carmilla, droning on about animals, or maybe creating a few monsters. Then the ending has him getting beaten up in a scene that lasted waaaaaaaaaay too long by Carmilla. I'm aware that it was supposed to be uncomfortable, but that reminded me of the poorly done dog scene from Elfen Lied. It was just as poorly animated, just as dull, and honestly could have been cut down. That was the last scene Hector was in. Hector has one of the most miserable arcs I've seen in a while. That's why I was saying "I hope no one was a Curse of Darkness fan". After watching the season, I looked up Curse of Darkness and Hector and I'm even more confused as to why they did this. Did they need a whipping boy for their "new and improved" Carmilla? He did nothing the whole season but get shit on.
That's a big reason from a short list why I don't find the concept of them continuing in the Trevor era in season 3 that compelling. It would just be clean up at best, and them trying to salvage Hector at worst...which is impossible at this point. On the Church: The whole lack of church/holy elements and the whole church being unambiguously evil thing is what I expected from a netflix show. I'm trying my HARDEST to not get political here, but netflix isn't a centrist platform to say the least. I get it guys, it is weird. However, I don't think this will change in the future. If they ever adopt Simon's journey, then him being a "Holy Warrior" will be gone entirely.

I find it kind of amusing that most were assuming that the reason I kept starting over was due to difficulty. It was actually out of boredom and laziness. LOL. I would play the game for an hour, say I'll pick it up later, and then not pick it up until 6+ months or more later. Then I find that I forgot what I was doing and decide to start over. Rinse and repeat. Just so we're clear, I just beat the game yesterday. It wasn't too bad at all in terms of difficulty and it never was. I've had much more trouble with many other games. I don't think playing the game to unlock the HARDEST difficulty is bad. Having a hard mode selectable from the start would be ideal. I have a problem with certain games(Castlevania Bloodlines, I'm looking at you) locking away the ending behind the hardest difficulty. Locking the ending at easy or especially the easiest difficulty, I'm ok with that. Learn the game, train yourself, and move up when you're ready. However, I can't see the ending for doing a normal playthrough? Yeah, no that's bad.

Yeesh, I'm kind of late to respond to this, but after some recent updates it was definitely a good idea to delay it even more. Not to mention my own wishes to take as much time as needed if not more for quality assurance. No need to rush a game like this. As far as the Vita(and the Wii U for that matter), I really wasn't surprised. Both of those consoles were basically abandoned for better or worse. I do feel bad for the Vita to an extent, but least the obnoxious port begging can sto-I mean at least you guys have some memories to hold on to. Relax, I'm joking. Besides, the switch port begging is just as bad now.

Thank you for fixing Gebel the GOAT. The initial faces in general were pretty off. Then again, I fully expected and encouraged a delay for absolute quality assurance. Nightmare mode is going to be interesting, but knowing me I'll playthrough the normal difficulty a couple of times only. This is a guy that has yet to beat SOTN despite trying numerous times.(My most recent try, I've gotten farther than ever though)

2B or Not- *shot*I've wanted her from the start and the fact that others did warmed my heart. I actually am a bit surprised, but at the same time happy. I'm laughing at all the people deleting their custom 2Bs now. Now they can focus on making A2 or 9S especially.
