I felt for a fact this game was not hitting March 2017, and forget the notions this is a new IP. That was a target date for nostalgia, not a genuine release: March 2017 is the 20th anniversary of SotN, and that's the only reason it was pitched in the Kickstarter. That said, I am surprised it's missing 2017 in full. You would have figured that by E3 they would have a floorplan of when features, systems, ideas, and implementations on how they're going about it and have a timeline available in some capacity. Being able to even showcase the opening location, almost as if it's complete, makes missing 2017 even more surprising to me. The current target date gives the impression something is weird with development, like a huge offshoot of issues, or they've finally hit an "oh shit" moment with having to make the game in full and its promised features. Especially as they've only announced they're aiming for it now. Adding apparently another development team only points in this way, as well... I mean, consider how one of the goals was a fully-orchestrated soundtrack. We've heard no song yet that shows this. Things like that are going to add up, and I imagine they're now in the phase to really start seeing this. i agree for the target date for nostalgia. besides if KONAMI ever done something with castlevania on the 20th anneversary in a backlash way, then good thing IGA dodged the bullet by delaying the game.

well it doesnt have to be alucard nor dracula. it could be a different anagram word play that relates to dracula like "Crud Ala or Lua Darc" for some example. that way Iga can get away with anything just by making it very UNIQUE name of his own. if he wants it in the sequel of bloodstained, it might be very interesting stuff.

i think i can argue that delaying to first half of 2018 would mean adding SOME stretch goal content in the game(minus the console port) which is LESS stagger content. the only thing i can think of is ROUGELIKE and ONLINE FEATURES as part of the stagger content because they add nothing to the single player experience other than just fun features. my ADVICE for IGA is DO NOT ADD rouge-like and online features(look at mighty no. 9 as an example) prior to release but instead put it as a POST RELEASE FUTURE CONTENT so that you dont have to keep on delaying in the future. as for the console port, do it after STEAM RELEASE like 6-12 months later because you are going to have problems when you do simultaneous console port release route(again look at mighty no. 9 as an example). i know that you are a PERFECTIONIST like KOJIMA and some other devs but sometimes you just have leave something out that's not needed YET or balance. that said, i hope you are reading this IGA as i've been on many kickstarter projects before and sometimes not all stretch goals will be ALL IN ONE PACKAGE in release. good luck with the NEW DEV TEAM that brings beneficial to you.

Just a short word of advice and encouragement for us fans out there: there will be a lot of uninformed negativity out there, especially if you're out on the internet looking for comments. Keep your cool and remember that there's not much reason to be upset logically at this whole thing. If you say anything, keep it concise and factual, but remember that some folks will just argue and be negative outside of reason. Try not to delve too deep into the comment culture. There's never much good waiting for you there. hence the UNEDUCATED and ill-informed people who failed to comprehend the WHOLE SITUATION which is sad in today's internet culture.

Yes!! I got to enjoy the monthly backer updates for another year. Also this give me more time to finish my original Bloodstained music track and hope for that 1 in a milloin chance that they'll use it in some stage in the final game. are you part of the Iga dev team or somthing?

not surprised for this delay, at least they give us in ADVANCEMENT so that the people wont get hyped as the release date getting closer which is good. otherwise they will get the same treatment as mighty no. 9.

that's what i'm worried about this PUBLISHER, presumably koch media/deep silver(which i dont like them anymore), as they have the galls to make a DUMB trailer for mighty no. 9 that ruin their reputaion. are they really trustworthy? how do we know that they wont make another BAD PR stunt that would receive negative backlash? Let's be honest here: that awful trailer was just the cherry on top of a long, hard fall for MN9. The people behind that game had been blundering around for months, steadily loosing faith and hope along the way due to terrible communication. Bloodstained has already established a level of trust, backed up by a solid demo showing and extensive fan communication, that even if some PR team makes a bad trailer (and I doubt the people who made the trailers for MN9 would the the ones working on PR for this game) I'm betting Bloodstained would still do fine. Bloodstained is already a PR godsend due to IGA attending cons and doing vlogs for his fans, plus the updates and polls and demos, the list goes on about how this campaign is substantially better all around. as long as communication(big keyword there) is here, then that's all that matters. and i prefer IGA to make a trailer when the time comes. still believing in IGA using kickstarter again but ONLY if his sales is moderate/poor despite a niche good game.

after reading all the comments, it feels like it's not going to die down for a VERY LONG TIME not even few months. as of now people are to talk about mighty no. 9 as a COMAPARISON when it comes with kickstarter related which is sad because kickstarter reputation got hit pretty hard because of both tim schaffer and inafune which is an irony that they both PIONEER the KS to make way for WEST devs and Japanese Devs alike. :/

looks like we got 50/50 here. yes i will back bloodstained 2 Success or not despite it is a GOOD GAME on the 1st because kickstarter brings a HUGE mount of benefits both the developer and the BACKERS. developers can do whatever they want while we are PR-ish that can spread the word FASTER. plus THIS FORUM brings us together as we are developing games with them, Feedback wise and also chatting whether it's small talk or HOT TOPIC discussion for the team to read. without kickstarter there will be no BOND between the devs and the fans alike like we have right now. i prefer to stay that way. The closeness to the developers is very nice and quite important, but you don't necessarily need Kickstarter to provide that. If Bloodstained is a success and Inti simply foots the bill for future games, this forum can still serve as a way for the team to keep in contact with the fans and keep us abreast of how things are progressing and get our feedback as the franchise continues into the future. After all, this forum isnt going to just vanish once the game comes out. I imagine a lot of us will be here through the years and sequels to come. We'll have modding threads and speedrun competitions and multiplayer events and all kinds of things to keep the community invested. Continuing to need to rely on Kickstarter would just create a situation where IGA repeatedly falls back on the fans to help him fund games, and that's just not the stable situation the man deserves.
