Also asynchronous multiplayer is stuff like shops, leader boards and stages you send to other people right? I remember thinking for a while this game would have full online modes like harmony of despair but that isnt happening right?
Can you address cheat codes? I wanna know if they are really cheat codes as in god mode or infinite hp and such, if they are their very existence would ruin the enitre fun and challenge of the game. it's like accidentally hitting the console button on a pc game, just having that cheater cop out option there is souring the expierence.
I think that's a great idea. I also really liked the special room in Harmony of Dissonance and it was rewarding to go from bare-bones alcove to opulent chamber over the course of the game. It would be especially cool if you could rest there. In addition, it would make sense to be able to use this room to craft items similar to how the workbench operated in the Fallout series.
fallout 1 and 2 dont have workbenches like that and thats the entire series that exists currently
Not sure if i like crafting, i mean enemy drops need to be bloated beyond 2 if you are gonna throw in a bunch of extra items like that. Or even worse enemies wont have specific drops like armors anymore because they expect you to buy/craft everything.
At least DoS had this problem where all end level weapons except RPG required a soul grind in multiple areas. Never played CoD even though i really want to but ya know ps2 disc read hell...
One the other end i Really cant wait for this to come out asap, no other metroidvanias are anywhere near as good as iga's ones and the last one from soon to be a decade ago i have already played to death
Order of ecclesia's way of difficulty was just about perfect, lots of things were faster and did status effects, traps were brutal, and flying enemies became a thing to plan around rather than ignore. The only thing bad about it are the huge finicky boss like crab, shadow , and horse man, they dont work well with the screen size and you will eat hits just for being at a medium distance from the boss because his hit box is so big, go look at gergoth in DoS and honestly tell me it wouldnt have been a better fight with double room length.
Crossing my fingers things like that dont return in RoTN
How about a succubus costume as good as the one from Aria
purifyweirdshard: Yeah, retro level and Curse of the Moon have no connection. An assumption could be that they use assets from each other, but we don't know that either.

Galamoth: Yeah, I suppose we don't specifically know what the "retro" in Retro Level means yet. It could even be PS1-era "retro", harkening back to SotN (and the style of the three DS 'vanias, since they reused assets).

Autumn: I hadn't thought about this before, but I wonder if they'd do some sort of voxel thing. That could look really striking, especially if there's a cutscene where the camera goes around a bit.
Dec 6, 2018 20:16:59 GMT -6
purifyweirdshard: You mean like how the cavern scrolls independently in the background under the bridge in the demo, or is that parallax? I'm not very educated on these things
Dec 7, 2018 18:45:01 GMT -6
Autumn: Ah, no. I mean, if the objects in that area are made to look like 3D versions of 2D sprites (almost like those experimental 3D NES emulators), it'll look really interesting during a boss cutscene where the camera might break away from its 2D perspective.
Dec 7, 2018 22:04:49 GMT -6
Autumn: Because this is a 2.5D game, I'm thinking that's how they might tackle the Retro Level. From a programming perspective, it seems like it'd be easier than making an entirely separate framework that strictly handles 2D objects just for one level.
Dec 7, 2018 22:18:39 GMT -6
purifyweirdshard: Oh you mean like 3D Dot Game Heroes?
Dec 7, 2018 23:30:29 GMT -6
purifyweirdshard: cool haha yeah I wouldn't mind seeing more things like that. I really liked that game, but I was near the end and my PS3 hdd died. Lost my save for that and Resonance of Fate, didn't have Plus at the time -_-
Dec 8, 2018 1:32:06 GMT -6
Galamoth: I have yet to play Resonance of Fate, even though I've had a copy of that game since it was released in 2010. At the very least, I've got quite the extensive backlog of games I have yet to finish.
Dec 9, 2018 8:42:38 GMT -6
purifyweirdshard: It's been remastered for PS4 now. I like the game, it's like a steampunk Valkyrie Profile 2 (with guns and customization). I'd say I prefer VP, but it's interesting. Whole game feels like a quest grind though.

purifyweirdshard: 3D Dot is "what if Atlus/From Soft made a Zelda/Dragon Quest tribute"
Dec 10, 2018 11:47:38 GMT -6
purifyweirdshard: Fangamer now makes an official Crystalis t-shirt. That is ACTUALLY insane
Dec 13, 2018 13:30:45 GMT -6
Autumn: Wait, you mean that old SNK Action-RPG? Dang, that IS insane. I have a buddy who's a big fan of that game; I'll have to tell her.
Dec 13, 2018 19:51:07 GMT -6
purifyweirdshard: Yeah, SNK Zelda. It had such a unique vibe to it. One of the first dreams I remember are about that game
Dec 13, 2018 20:59:12 GMT -6
purifyweirdshard: Also a favorite of mine - Byeond (and Legend Of) Oasis, which is Sega Zelda, and I was just earlier here talking about Atlus/From Soft Zelda lol
Dec 14, 2018 9:29:45 GMT -6
Autumn: Ah, it looks like Beyond Oasis is available on Steam; I'll have to give it a try one of these days.
Dec 14, 2018 13:10:51 GMT -6
purifyweirdshard: oh it is? Well that's interesting...but yeah it's kind of like a cross between SoM and Zelda. I'll have to see what the Steam vers is about
Dec 14, 2018 13:17:25 GMT -6
Autumn: It's a part of that SEGA Mega Drive & Genesis Classics collection. The console versions make you buy all 50+ games as one package, but Steam gives you the option to just buy the ones you want individually, which I appreciate.
