big post. but honestly I have no interest in outfit specifics. in this day in age, when games like skyrim have proved their value 10 times fold based exclusively on mod supoort, when unreal engine is a public SDK, I would find it almost unacceptable to have limited outfits without letting people make th eir own. why in hells n ame would you NOT let people do so. has it EVER been a bad move to do so? I can't think of one example, and I've been modding games long before many people knew what a mod was, think doom 1 days.
Unfortunately, while I love Japanese games in many ways over their western counterparts. modding support is something they rarely have interest over. I truly hope bloodstained sets a precedent, and I think it will be rewarded if it does so.
And if someone goes nyah nyah, metroidvanias aren't the right genre for modding...I'm going to hit my desk... again... after I did just now thinking about such an inane comment. The whole benefit of modding is to provide potential players/customers with things that they wanted that the developers never even thought of, in addition to having the time of implimenting... generally it's the former though.

I'm poor at communicating my thoughts, so please be patient here.
But I don't think trolls are just as responsible at creating toxic environments as corrupt staff... trolls to voice, volunteer, or sometimes even get paid for maintaining a productive environment, staff are.
I'm not saying there is anything wrong with the staff here, or the volunteers, or the mods, or whomever, nor is there a 'troll' here I wish to protect, nor do I think anyone regards me as a troll. I merely have just grown concerned with the Internet in general with people having some kind of clique community in things, blaming trolls for things, and being responsible for stagnation. Trolls were a minor factor in comparison.
I don't think you personally are an issue yet either (though you may be, I just don't know you so no opinion), I just wish to point out how I don't completely agree for the record is all.

I've never seen trolls ruin a forum. Rather it is often the people who feel entitled with some forum power or influence that can ruin forums.
I don't see a hint of that yet, but basically I think that having a 'we're too good to let trolls in!' mentality is a step towards something bad more than an actual troll popping up.

I don't know any bands that make me go 'this needs to be in castlevania'. but Summoning REMOTELY kinda sounds similarish.. I mean I wouldn't really call castlevania metal soo. but yeah anyway.
That's just one song but they all kinda have that sort of sound.

Honestly it isn't that bad if they pace it. Ever been at work and you do the immediate tasks and you're not really sure what you should work on next? Or where you're just too brain-dead to function with something important? Start signing!
I always like keeping a high time requirement-low priority task at work that I can just chrun away at it in between important tasks that are time-sensitive.

I thought I actually requested this as a cheat-code feature when these forums were new. To me it is something every 2.5d game should have as a developer mode cheat or something.

I like games, and I like to be aware of them, but.. My disdain for its media is probably worse than your own. It would pain me to give them relevancy with my traffic, as small as it may be. so I don't.
Indie games however are something I get the impression are not universally worse off from media attention. Rather I think that when it comes to indie games, they are just slower, until they can get an understanding of what the general consensus is, then they inflate that consensus as much as they can to come across as the biggest supporters. Take Undertale for example, first people said they thought undertale was cool, then they said it was great, then it was WOOO GAME OF THE YEAR.. then it was AGHASFJKJ@ASKFDJLASKGIHJG IM SEROTONIN OVERDOSING@#%@%@#*@%N *explodes*.
I do however think doujin games get virtually no exposure at all. So much so that most folks here probably don't even know what doujin is... It's Japanese indie, and if you think 'why not call it indie?'. Well Doujin is actually a much much larger market before steam came around, that's why, and I think they generally have a better understanding of what their playerbase wants more than indie games who have to balance between satisfying customers and the media for exposure.

Eh. games releae before making a demo...well I'd say all the time but most games don't have demos at all these days.
Now if you meant beta demo, yeah ok sure.
Also I don't think there's much release date drama. I agree that the gaming media is crud, but I would be careful about judging gamers as so toxic or something, you sound like the media yourself when you do that. My policy is to judge less and consider more.
edit: err, I mean you sound like the media when you say that and only that. not saying you're just like them you're awful go away rah rah.

For whatever reason I have difficulty taking bands where the lead singer sounds like the cookie monster seriously. That's understandable. To me I actually prefer it in a strange way... You see I generally dislike singing and vocalists. Instruments sound so much better than singing. 'cookie monster' vocalists minimize this bother to me because t hat style of singing is often quieter in the end result for the music.. I mean the singer might be shouting or something but in the actual studio they lower the gain of the singer so that they are kinda on the same level as every other individual instrument. Music with NORMAL vocals on the other hand FREQUENTLY have the singer as the forefront of the music.

I never heard anyone say curse of darkness is bad. Just a few people who say castlevania can't be good in 3d who never PLAYED the 3d castlevanias..
That said I kinda think the same thing with people who mention bubsy. Yes busy n64 is infamously bad, but the snes game was actually pretty decent among platformers of its time.

I haven't played xenoblade chronicles 2 so I don't kn ow if I would like or hate rex. But just from the pictures... Visually that kid doesn't match the rest of the cast. And I don't mean cuz he's male. Just... he's such a derpy looking kid, and everyone else are super models. it's weird.

1: I hate this question. too damn many. I can't single one out.
2: that I've played? umm. hard to say. depends on what you mean by worst. I'd have to say a possible choice would be the second OMF game. I forget the name (omf for one must fall, an old pc fighting game, the 2nd game went 3rd person view and really took away everything good about the original).
3: Trails of cold steel 3 and 4. Stranger of sword city revisited (it never goes on sale, whyyy), xenoblade chronicles 2 (I don't have a switch), Forza motorsport 5 (I don't have an xbone, nor do I want one for any reason other than forza), prob lots more.
4: I think I know the answer but I forgot. Probably every EA games sports title ever.. wasn't there one where they literally just changed the name one year and called it a day? I think it was a fifa game. Otherwise Five night at freddy's looks really silly to me. nothing but jump scares. Why do people actually like jump scares? gah.
5: I wanna say castlevania lords of shadow, but Lords of the realm 3 has it beat. LOTS of 3s are terrible in great series I find, master of orion 3, lords of the realm 3, diablo 3 (at launch), warlords battlecry 3 (people like that one but I seriously don't see why anyone likes it over 2).
Special mention to PSO2 (Panty sho..err. Phantasy Star Online 2). I played the Japanese closed beta and loved it to bits... Then it was unavailable for like a year and I was DYING for its release. Then it came out, and I played it and loved it again...then shortly after they announced they were going to make a western server! PSO2West!
So despite loving the game, I quit cold turkey because I didn't want to get invested on the Japanese server so much that I didn't want to switch to NA... Lots of pso2 vets are like 'hurr why you wanna play west to begin with?" Well. lets see.. it's an online game and not lagging everyone to @%@#% is a start... Being able to TALK t o people online is also a plus... Being SUPPORTED by the staff if something wrong happens is nice... tons of reasons, don't be a moron.
Anyway. I waited like 2 y ears, when the release date for west finally came.. and... nothing... then like a month later sega is like 'pso2 west has been delayed'... So I'm like, oh it's just delayed? That means they're still working on it! great! I didn't quit for @%#%@#%@#%ING NOTHING... Aaaand, now... they still haven't said or done @#%@#% except say 'it has been delayed'.
What makes matters worse is that they made a Southeastasia server, which is in English, and when people datamined it, they discovered in the comments that they were using code originally intended for pso2 WEST.
And west still isn't out.. obviously it never will be.. hence the big disappointment. Eff you sega, eff youuu.
6: Probably the SNES, but I actually had a lot of pleasure from my ps3 as well.
7: Estelle from trails in the sky.
8: Rance from sengoku rance.. really cool game, but I hate the protagonist so much that I can't replay it even though the game has the best ng+ features ever... it's an 18+ game btw... But actually a good game. Actually I don't even like the 18+ aspect about it.
9: Atari 2600 I think. Maybe colecovision or intellivision. I was really young then. I really only played the Atari among them though.
10: Neptunia
11: Humble monthly bundle stealth bought itself on me even though Is aid pause. stupid thing. I bought all of nioh's dlc during its sale before that, but that was just the dlc, I already had the game. Before that? Oh, dark souls 3 from the previous monthly bundle, on purpose.
12: Ask me back when snes was new and I would have said rpg without breaking a sweat. Nowdays I have many. Though it's kind of a tie between dungeon crawler rpgs, console style japanese rpgs, roguelikes, good roguelites (I say good cuz I don't like most of them, but the ones I do like I like a lot), and I like gran tourismo style racing games but haven't played any since 5 since 6 apparently has nothing over 5 and sport is a joke.
13: I don't know. there have been a few that gave manly tears and I don't know how to measure it past that.
14: Ghaleon of course! He stole the heroes girlfriend AFTER making her a goddess, how badass is that? =P Seriously though, I played lunar the silver star way back in its sega cd days, not its ps1 remake days, so having an rpg with voice acting and high fidelity music and stuff was truly mind-blowing. I don't think I can take off the pink sunglasses when comparing stuff to lunar. Ghaleon is a great example of my favorite kind of villain though... the kind that is good, then evil, then good, then evil, and they just don't make up their damn mind! Kinda like Magus from chrono trigger I guess.
15: Probably not the worst, and people will hate me for this, but pretty much every final fantasy villain before 8 (and I don't remember 8s, so it must suck too).. I really really hate villains that are just like EVIL EVIL I DO EVERYTHING FOR THE EVULLLZZ MWAHAHAHA.. Sephiroth maybe wasn't like that, but... I dunno, he just seems so flat to me too. plus Ghaleon beat him to the pretty boy with long white hair and a big sword thing, both earlier and better, not to mention his motivation wasn't being a giant mamas boy or whatever.
16: Heroes of Hammerwatch, slay the spire, Civilization beyond earth, Dark souls 3, and probably nioh as soon as I choose to sit at my tv instead of my pc during my free time.
17: I've fallen in love with trails of.
18: Not sure. seiken densetsu 3, SoTN, Trails of cold steel, ys8? ah....They're all so good.
19: Xevious. Loud high pitch prattling... that repeats constantly, without any other music in the game.... oh did I mention the song is like 3 seconds long? Yes it repeats a 3 second song over and over and over.
20: I don't know, some Atari game or something. Probably pong or pacman or whatever.
21: Mushihimesama-futari. Provided you play on ultra
22: Falcom
23: hmm.. Well I uhh.. it would spoil it.. but in that situation I like the couple as a couple even though I don't like the guy much (don't hate him either)... But In Eien no Aselia, you get to choose your waifu, and even though I like esperia more than orpha, her 'waifu' route is complete crap. They ruin her as a character, and turn her from a strong responsible reliable woman into a useless helpless wreck. Orpha on the other hand gets turned into a childish loli (like an actual child, not a 800 year old vampire loli), into someone who is still a loli but you see her mature. Then they address her loliness in a way that doesn't really come across as creepy.
24: Yuuto (from the same game, that's the protagonist), and Esperia... Esperia is my favorite girl in that game (even though her outfit sucks), but if she becomes your romance interest, she because a crybaby....She turns freakin overpowered in combat though.
25: I have the original hyperdimension neptunia pre-order edition and I managed to open its box without ripping the tab (it wasn't that hard, what is wrong with people?!). I'm not sure if that's worth more or my SNES Chrono trigger... Maybe I have other valuables.. I really don't know. I know those 2 are worth a lot though.
26: ps4
27: I don't know... actually the original hyperdimension neptunia is a gem. I don't like it as much with the newer games though. This is english voice acting, I don't play with Japanese dubs.
28: I'd say Ys. To me it's better than zelda in every way except dungeon puzzle design things. better music, better combat, better options, better inventory, better characters, better story... but Zelda stomps all over it in terms of popularity. It just doesn't seem right to me.
29: NISA from Hyperdimension neptunia. The 'for justice!' thing got old long before the 50 millionth time they used it, and it wasn't really that funny to begin with.
30: That I own? The original gameboy. Portable gaming was amazing back then sure, but the games themselves... none of them really make me want to play them again. Except maybe that zelda one with a windfish final boss.... oh yeah that was a sad moment too for that earlier question.. where you win the game so the whole world gets vaporized. yeah, nice.
31: World of warcraft... though MMOS probably don't count eh? Not sure then. Master of orion 2? Secret of Mana? Seiken Densetsu 3? Labyrinth of Touhou? One of those.

I'm not pro-denuvo but I know it gets a much worse rep than it deserves because IIRC every game t hat uses it disables it as soon as it gets cracked, thereby making all those bad features non-existant. Making me think that a lot of its criticism is in fact from people who are just salty they can't pirate a game right away because guess what, it's not even there by the time it can be pirated anymore.

You know it's funny. I haven't really seen any trolls or whatever on these forums. I mean I know I'm not the most active user, but I've been somewhat steady since quite early in this forum's lifespan. I'm not sure when but at some point I stopped bothering to goto the kickstarter comment section because I got sick of the 'I want money back because it's 2.5D!" comments. My desk still has my face imprinted on it from those times.
I mean there are a couple users here that I disagree with on nearly everything, but even they don't strike me as trolls are nonconstructive.
This is quite probably the most peaceful forum I've ever seen. The biggest drama I recall was that co-founder person leaving early on, and even then they didn't really leave in a really big 'screw you, you all suck' way or anything, at least it didn't appear that way to the public.

Surely these publishers know that hyping up for an old classic and THEN revealing it's a mobile game doesn't do anything but piss the vast majority of their fans off

Yeah I kinda think the problem is really only an issue when you have companies like Nintendo who seems to flat out refuse to try and supply the market demand. In this case, nobody is going to lose out on a copy for themselves, and if anything, it might improve said copies by providing more advance money and resources to the development team.

Look at the crafting menu, bottom right says crafted. as if it counts how many of a particular item you have crafted. I can't think of a reason to include such a count unless you get benefits for crafting an item multiple times to get more 'skilled' at it or something. Though I don't know why it would have arrows pointing up and down by the number. I have no opinion on th is yet.
Early on I expressed my opinions on crafting systems, and basically I like them when the materials are more like a currency with various sources. Less enamored with them when nearly everything good requires one or more of some specific material that only drops from one single enemy. Otherwise why not just have direct drops from those enemies. Only exception being if the crafted item requires a specific drop across the board. like get the 4 very specific items from the 4 elemental bosses to craft the ____ or whatever. Otherwise I prefer a focus more on stuff like iron scraps, monster drool, undead snot, etc.
