Konami or not, this game brought life to some of the best characters that IGA has created, and i never got to play the game. i would be lying if i said i wasn't interested.
Knowing that Konami does what Konami does, perhaps this is for the best. With this game out of the stores, Castlevania franchise will go back to its coffin where it should stay until Konami sells the IP or hires a competent team to make a competent game. Silly of me to think that could happen.

Update is up and running for PS4. Played it earlier today and had a blast.

1) Game freezes while browsing through Bloodless's move set in pause menu:
Has about a 50% chance of happening while in the pre-game room, with the red sun, before the Zangetsu fight.

Bloodless attacks seem to be Ice element even on the main game. I remember equipping an ice tiara to reduce the damage i took from her blood attacks but i'm not entirely sure if that worked or not. I do remember the ice particles coming out everytime she hit me though.

Completely forgot about Red Remembrance lol. Just tested it again with it in yellow slot instead of Augment INT (+passive RR) at 1 HP.

ooh thats almost 9999 damage. i guess the only way to be able to deal that much damage its by super poisoning valefar with 100k+ cash on you. also, have you tried bullet coin or the heavy axe from the axe knights in the glacial tomb? pretty sure those are heavy hitters.

oh wow i honestly don't think it can go higher than that but its actually posible to reduce the enemies def stat with a bullet and it does make a difference. of course a morte would die instantly from any bullet and i believe mortes have 1 defence point so it would be pointless to try.
i just don't like the fact that fire element is the dominant elemental option of the game. several enemies are weak to fire and the player gets multiple options for that (fire cannon, Riga Storaema, Riga Dohin, Fire breath, hellhound, Buer's fire ability) and im sure im missing one here.
i remember hitting a 5100 crit with max str + dantalion's buff + the most powerful crit ring + red remembrance at 1% HP all this with Eternal blue. it was against a sabnock. need to try on a morte.

i tried using beast guardian against glutton train in nightmare mode. i don't know if i did something wrong or it was not enhanced enough but i caught 4 metal projectiles with the face and got instantly murdered. the shard did nothing for me whereas the shield actually blocked them. so the shield wins.
then i encountered Nightmare blodless and the shield was useless against red cyclone. it blocks the blood but Blodless is a bitch and decides to keep the cyclone alive until you run out of MP. Beast guardian blocked the blood for 2 seconds then i got hit. ._.
the shield can be rotated and thats the best thing about it. both are a hard and time consuming to upgrade but the shield knight can be found in multiple locations and pretty close to doors. the stupid wolf is only found in the tower pretty damn far away from transition areas.

1- Forgotten Jade. theres something magic to that song that i just can't stop loving it. Nostalgia maybe? or maybe i just love the music themes for water and underground levels when they are composed by Yamane. i love the Lost painting, hidden prison, dark palace of waterfalls and wandering the crystal blue but this one defeated all those.
2- Autumn's Desolation. i don't care if you can't get soy sauce and miso from Dominique. it gives me a perfect excuse to come to this place and listen to that very adictive track.
3- OD theme there is so much class in this theme that is just imposible for me to not wait until it loops before i leave the room
4- Interred Glory at first i didn't like this theme, i was expecting something more egyptian like the "brilliant void" from curse of the moon, but after a lot of Gold and Alkahest farming it reached my soul and i started playing it at work, home and other places. fell in love with it.
5- Holy wisdom dark and gothic. 100% Yamane style. loved it.
6- Repentance holy? unholy? Its payback time!
7- Surpassing Grief. SO dark. this theme is so strange. it feels like you coud use it for almost everything that involves sadness or tragedy. Its like Guile's Theme. IT GOES WITH EVERYTHING (as long as it is sad)
a bit frustrated with myself because i remember i kept telling to myself that gears of fortune was going to be my favorite IGAVANIA theme ever! HOW WRONG WAS I? i like Gears of Fortune but it is forgetable. Perhaps i got tired of it, or maybe it is the fact that i find the tower of the twin dragons to be boring? meh.

castle expansion such as new areas, demons, shards, weapons and bosses are an absolute yes. it could also be another method to reward 60+ backers with free DLC.
however, main story expansion and plot related stuff are an absolute NO. leave that for a sequel or a prequel. Thats the kind of stuff that many people seem to take in a very wrong way: "boo-ho. this game ending was so bad that they had to patch it with DLC content" "you have to pay more for the complete story?¨ "why is this DLC? This should have been in the main game to begin with" it kind of makes developers look lazy and Publishers look greedy.
Now, if the expansion was something that had nothing to do with the main events of the game then that would be welcome.
things such as a completely new character that was never mentioned in the main plot, or a sudden "hey Miriam, you might like to investigate this place" *finds new area with new superboss* thats the kind of stuff that i would like to pay for.

Im not sure if it is safe to talk about the Datamined info that was taken from the 2018 demo, but the enemy list has a few enemy names that were not present in game, and one of them is Focalor. The turtle like demon that appeared as a boss in Curse of the moon.
Regarding Focalor, in the "story flow" part of the datamines it looked like he was supposed to be an intended fight taking place at about the same time you'd be having to go down to the Forbidden Underground Waterway anyways, so I think he was originally supposed to drop the first water traversal shard and got cut.
But regarding OP I fully agree. I look forward to eventually paying money for some DLC area in the future so I can get some kind of optional challenging area.
i saw. the story flow also mentions valefor is fought instead of Bathin but i believe that was a mistake.
im just glad the cut content is not that much but there are a few enemies that sound pretty interesting, such as the snake mounted on a griffin (Andromarius, chicmecoatl) pretty sure they appear in curse of the moon. the crow-like enemies (Malphas) and the dog ones (Glasya labolas, Marcosius) caught all of my attention.
it also mentions an area called "Creature Isolation Facility" that sounds like a superdungeon but im going to bet its another name for Glacial Tomb.
also, still sad about the blue Ninja being named Harrier instead of Sonic like in the datamining. the reference is still easy to catch but its not the same.

Maybe there would be a breakable floor in the Galleon Minerva, that led to a large, optional scary deep sea area with strange tentacled creatures and spooky water spirits, and lots of sunken treasures to plunder.
The far west side of the map containing JUST the Galleon feels a bit lopsided, when you compare to the far east side, which contains the Alchemy Lab, Den of Behemoths and Glacial Tomb.
A secret deep sea would be a way of adding more content to the left side of the map, a reason for the Minerva's warp room to exist, and a cool optional area, which this game is sorely lacking in.

if we ever get dlc expansions maybe there is a chance we get something like that. its easy to see that they didn't put many resources towards the bestiary but part of me believes theres something more.
there are a lot of the Solomon demons that were left out and the datamining mentions a few of them.

tbh i saw it coming. IGA games are so predictable. at first i though she was going to test you or try to stop you from entering an unholy place or use demonic power to achieve something risky. but the moment i found her arguing with Alfred it was obvious that she was up to something evil.

I am a backer of the digital tier reward. The creator sent out the survey to select the game platform few years ago. I selected the Steam option cause I owned a iMac. Halfway through the development, they announced that Mac OS support for the game was removed. I didn't realise it until they locked the platform change option. (My bad for not following the game development over the past 4 years)
you burned yourself with this one. there is nothing to discuss here. it was your fault. you backed a project and didn't even bother about it for 4 years? there were multiple announcements through many different platforms, not just kickstarter. development has over 90 updates and you missed all of it? i find it hard to believe someone who has backed over 80 projects ignores a project this much.

absoute derp from me. that changes a lot of things but most of them such as the healing methods or power acquisition remain. irc the only way to power up your spells in OOE was by increasing your attribute points...
zombie grinding intensifies.
edit: Now that i think about it. Bloodstained is really easy because it gives you multiple options to power up yourself early.
comparing both games i can see Ritual being harder than OOE in normal mode if the player ignores or doesn't pay enough atention to the upgrade systems. OOE didnt give you many options for that. you had to fight with everything you had at your disposal.

My man. thank you for that beautiful red post. you have mentioned every single one of my concerns about the REAL problems and letdowns i have about this beautiful Game.
even my IGAVANIA fanboy agrees with everything you said. while i think that this is IGA's biggest castle, Den of the behemots its nothing but a map filer and that killed the deal for me. its about quality not quantity.
lets hope the next bloodstained becomes the true OPUS MAGNUS that was promised.
start a new game in OOE in hard mode and count how many times you die before you reach the skeleton cave and unlock double jump. OOE is Shanoa Must die level of difficulty and here are a very few reasons of why.
1. the damage formula was changed so that the minimum damage you can take is 31 instead of 1. this means the game is stupidly hard in the beggining where enemies can kill you in 3 hits.
2. enemy placement is insane. conbined with the damage formula modification, you run into infinite spawns of bats and winged bones with surprisingly annoying patterns and early golden medusa heads that can hit you for 130 damage + stone. Ruvas forest is an absolute hell and that is only the second stage of the game.
3. Recovery options are almost non existant until mid-late game. in OOE your only source of healing item during the first 2-3 levels are pieces of meat that recover 29 HP and your 2 starting Potions that only heal 50 HP. You unlock potion after you rescue the healer in minera prison island and thats the 4th stage of the game with ridiculous hazards. even after this, Potions are incredibly expensive and high potions are unlocked way later in the game (about 70% of completion) food options are also unlocked later after you get the Double jump.
4. Limited power up options Shanoa laughs in the face of the other Castlevania characters because she has free Quick MP Recovery but she cannot use weapons. her spells are her weapons and she can only get them from a very limited amount of enemies, and that greatly limits her arsenal to fight demons. Shanoa only gains +8 HP per level. there is no such thing like food buffs and leveling up in OOE takes forever due to the ridiculous exp gains.
5. hazards and traps are Bullshark! i don't need to explain much here but placing gold medusa heads in a large corridor with spikes below you while you have to magnes your way to the other side is not exactly easy. fall and take instant 300+ damage per second. nope your way out with a magical ticket or good luck breaking free of the petrification. also Minera Prison traps get BUFFED.
and theres more. compare these to Ritual and see :l

farming has worked like that in literally EVERY SINGLE CASTLEVANIA directed by IGA and Shutaro and that includes the 3D ones. i don't understand what were you expecting. irc you said you haven't played another castlevania made by IGA and yet you come here to post about everything you think its off when in reality most of us were expecting things to work exactly like they work in this game. i dont get it.
certain shards makes farming extremely easy. (Enhanced Tis Rosain or Void ray) and equipment such as: plunderers ring+ gamblers ring + fully enhanced Augment luck shard(9 / 9) + Book of Fortune+ Ribbon
And for those who didnt know this: You Do not need to wait for glitched bags to be looted! simply touch them once and the item will be looted automatically. when you exit the room you will see the items you picked up. just in case you didnt know.
TO BE FAIR. yes. you do have a point. farming can get tedious very fast but a forced drop its just NOT reasonable. if the drop rate % increased with consecutive kills then that would be okay.

No. This game does not need to explain everything to the player.
Bloodstained follows the exact same formula that IGA has used in his previous games. it is a game about exploration and that exploration involves things such as mechacnics or the amount of HP restored by a potion or other healing items. also, many of the things you asked are actually mentioned in the game (in books, your journal, loading screens) or are really easy to figure out by yourself
if you really need someone or something to explain those things to you, thats fine. but the Game is fine as it is. i was going to answer all of your questions but the guy above has already answered them for you.
really hate this response. This game is so uninviting for newcomers of the genre. If this response is really the sentiment of the fanbase the game DESERVES to tank. And i backed the 150$ physical version.
ANYBODY should get an explanation of the STATS by/in the game. They are the main mechanics you can tinker with.
The OP has absolutely the right stand about this. There will be many people that do not have a clue what the freaking stats do and the game does nada to explain it. Every successfull game with RPG elements somewhere IN GAME explain to the player what the stats do. Diablo 3, Dark Souls, WoW...you name it. Maybe, just maybe these games are having success and are garnering new players because they are inviting to new players. It's a win-win. New players fall in love with these games and these franchises flourish because of this.
Bloodstained won't do this, for unexplained and uneccessary reasons. It's just uninviting. Do you really think an impulse buyer of the game will search for explaination online? Why would they? When every other game does it better? And even if he finds the games official site...there are no guides or something like the Diablo 3 site has. Its just a bad advertising site. So this new player is frustrated, and rightfully so. Do you really think this player will recommend the game to his friends?
I talked to a friend of mine that the game does not explain what MND, CON etc. is. He asked if the game has a manual. I said it does bit it does not list and explain these things. He said ,,So what is the maual there for?'' He is right. Who made the decision that it is a good idea to not explain this?
Please, every official that maybe reads this: take the feedback about missing documentation serious. OP proves that this is an issue. Do not make it uneccessary hard for newcomers to understand the game mechanics. That does not do anybody favors.

yes. that was me being asshole and yet i don't think im exagerating. if they implement such help, manual, guides or whatever you want to call them in the game then thats ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! but even if they don't, the game will continue to be good and playable. i repeat myself: the explanation of what stats raise can be found during loading screens. and yes. i think its a little ridiculous that information is not listed in the compendium and terms of the game, but was it really hard to figure it out on your own?

i have never cared about how lazy the plot is in these games. I am here for the gameplay, the challenge, the demons, the waifus and the things that make iga games great.
i reached the final area and just as i expected it was going to be a chaotic realm/the abyss stage and at first i was very excited but it only took like 5 mins of exploration to find the truth.
the last part of the game its a pointless map filler that constitutes about 15% of the map in huge rooms that are recycled from garden of silence. the final demons of the bestiary are nothing but some of the weakest monsters in the game but resized. i am okay with palette swaps and modified models but they just increased the size of the least interesting enemies.
i was very annoyed. it was a tricky move. since i reached the place with 80% of map completion i was expecting an awesome finale, just to find out that the last quarter of the map is just a terrible filler level.
Ice tomb was okay and the boss fights were absolutely epic but den of the behemots its an absolute dissapointment.
it lowered my 95 to 90. at least Dominique fight was great. can't wait to fight her in hard mode.
