Nintendo is better, really videogames only Nintendo. PlayStation is for movies with a lot of videogame. This is probably the funniest thing I've read all week.

I don't support Epic at all. I had initially made an account to get the free games, but after reading of the security issues and of the numerous occasions of exclusives hoarding I flat out deleted my account (a process which, by the way, required ten days of back and forth emails between me and the customer service) on top of uninstalling the launcher.
Exclusives have no place in PC gaming. The only exception is if you make your own game, then it's yours and you can sell it on your store only. I can accept that. But buying exclusives left and right and sell them on the absolute travesty that is Epic store is ridiculous. It lacks pretty much any decent service a client should offer. The argument of "but Steam was also barebones when it launched" is so stupid I have a hard time comprehending why people bring that up. It's been 15 years!
I thought that buying exclusives already purchaseable on Steam (which get removed) was the absolute worst, but with the Phoenix Point debacle they really hit rock bottom. Plus, Epic's boss has a really shitty, hypocritical attitude. Some time ago he was criticizing Microsoft for frammenting the PC market, now he snatches exclusives with no regard for customers and says "well yeah we make offers and if there already were preorders on Steam it doesn't concern us". In Italy, we have a perfect expression for guys like him which roughly translates to "having an ass for face".
It's an absolute disgrace as far as I'm concerned and if this was to happen with Bloodstained (though I honestly don't think there is a possibility), I'd ask for an immediate refund of all the 300 euros I spent (Switch version if a refund weren't possible) and never, ever want to have anything to do with ArtPlay or 505 again.
For cases like Machine Games's newest game, Solar Ash Kingdom, I bear no ill intent on the devs (on the publisher I do a bit) but it's either a buy on Switch, a buy on Steam after the exclusivity ends or no buy at all if exclusivity is permanent. As much as I loved Hyper Light Drifter, I won't give a cent nor a second of my time to Epic Store.

There are some elements of this project I can appreciate - the animations (the 3D work in general) and character designs for the dateable cast are excellent (though I will mention I hate the male captain who looks like some Hentai Kamen reject) and some of the humor works for me. But alot of the other humor feels more try-hard and the pitch taps a bit too much into grievances (and as a result has attracted at least a few "weird" people if the comment section is anything to go by) for my tastes. I don't know anything about FOW and their past but I'm not going to lie, even as someone who likes lewd stuff from time to time, hearing they got bYoung Goofballd from Patreon makes me kind of scared LOL. FOW's 3D animation is truly excellent. Their H movies are easily available on the major... let's say "specialized" websites lol they're a bit on the hardcore side though. Not for everyone (but at the same time it's not too excessive IMO, I read about H animes that sound far worse).

Pure Miriam I very much agree with this, it was always so sad to get something awesome in IGAvanias and then not using it for at all because it was effectively useless. Novelty is great but exploiting this adaptability the shortcuts give the player would be fantastic. Then again, maybe it's something for Nightmare only. On a more general note I'd just like the game to be balanced carefully. Making more options useful. Letting the "ultimate weapon" for EVERY CATEGORY shine. Things like that. Order was almost perfect in this regard but maybe that's because of the increased difficulty. Oh well, I trust the team on this one.

Well then we just agree to disagree, it's fine. I explained the reasons behind my thought, if you still can't see the point it's no big deal I extensively switched sets in those two games. Then again, in other IGAvanias I always managed with a single set. Not to repeat myself, but it isn't a NECESSARY feature; but given that they took the time to implement this, I'd like the idea to be fully fleshed out (because IN MY OPINION right now it's not).

freddythemonkey Would you be satisfied if either the Left Analog Stick [or the Control Pad; whichever one isn't dedicated to character movement] could be used for those shortcuts? I did like that the Doppelganger Soul in DoS & the Glyph Sleeves in OoE didn't require pausing the game. Two solutions I had in mind would be: 1 - assigning the directions of the Pad to the four sets in the corresponding slots. So you'd have four sets you can instantly switch to and for the other four you could access the menu as it is now. This solution would be a great middle ground because it doesn't interrupt the action at all, still gives you a nice number of instant options and I don't think the Pad is assigned to anything specific, but I don't exactly remember. I could be wrong. 2 - the button makes a wheel appear and you can select the set with the right stick while the wheel is on screen. It may or may not slow down time, it would be fine either way. This system is similar to the one we had for switching Orbs and Relics in Lament of Innocence. As I said, the ability to instantly switch is a necessity for me personally, otherwise there is no real purpose to the feature. But it's up to them what to do with this.

Pure Miriam IMO if there isn't a way to quick swap them, they're not shortcuts. They're just a quality of life improvement to spend less time in the menus. And personally I don't like it, it feels like a half baked feature. I won't be terribly disappointed if the feature stays as it is now, it's no big deal, but it kind of defeats the purpose for me.

The few hentai games I've played in the past were always total crap or almost total crap. I mean, why make a game (and usually with the purpose to lose) that plays like garbage to make me see Hentai stuff that I could find on the Net without the hassle.
This looks promising though. The ideas are in place, premises are solid (plus the guys seem cool, some of the things written in the campaign made me grin), and the concept of rewarding with the NSFW scenes for actually playing well is much needed. I hope they can deliver a good quality game "enriched" by the spicy stuff and not spicy stuff with a mediocre game on the sides. Thanks for posting this, I'll follow the project and wait for some gameplays or reviews, but this could be the first H game I actually enjoy.

In Dawn of Sorrow we had 2 sets, so I had a Light set and a Dark one. Light was so OP in IGAvanias to be brutally effective on almost anything, and against those rare enemies who resisted it using Dark weapons was equivalent to nuking them.
In Order things are mixed up so I tended to have a "Weapons" set and a "Magic" set, with the third varying depending on purpose (Dominus-fueled powerhouse to combo bosses to death within seconds or farming sets).
In here we have a great number of sets so I'd focus on a "utility" set and a magical set, while leaving the others to be specialized in different weapon types. Sets resistant to specific elements are often situational (they may be useful against a boss and that's it) so I'd only build those if I specifically needed them. A Gunslinger set would be optimal because of the ammo consuming nature of guns, so they pretty much can't be equipped all the time. To maximize the feeling of seamlessly switching between sets, though, we would need a more reactive shortcut system (like a wheel that slows down time like I mentioned in another post), not just another sub-menu. But it'll surely be implemented in some way, in Dawn and Order you could switch sets on the fly with a button combination so it would be weird to regress into not having that option.

Telling people the chance of getting the GBA, DS and PS2 'vanias is next to nothing is one thing, that's what I believe too. It's just not likely. Telling people they basically can't be excited for this, even if it is just the chance to own games we've already played to death on a modern system, and then answering "sorry for caring, do what you want" after being told that yeah, maybe people would indeed like the idea of this collection doesn't sound "caring" at all. If people know what they're realistically getting (probably the older games) and they're happy for that, let them be excited.
There's the chance that the porting and all is crap and the collection is a terrible job as a result, but that doesn't mean I can't like the idea (and I do like it, very much).

Considering that I have no way of playing most of the classic CV games without emulating, a practice I don't enjoy because I completely miss the "feel" of the game by emulating (I have 1, 2, SC4 and Bloodlines of physical cartridges I don't have the consoles for; I have 3 for the 2DS which feels terrible and has a minuscule screen so I hate to play that version) yeah I am pretty hyped for this collection. Assumed that it's a decently done job, with quality emulation (and I'm not sure but I hope it is), having this on PC or even better on the Switch, with decently sized screen and everything it would be incredibly worth it.
Not to mention the Contra collection, also. Sometimes it's just nice to play older games on the preferred, modern system without emulating or necroing old consoles that feel terrible to play, need an older television or some other shenanigan.

I was just going to post this video from PAXEast, I have seen it last night. I am very happy to see the Switch version looking good! I think it might be the one to sell most copies. I watched it now with more attention. I don`t like that red border pulsing when Miriam has low health, it is too intrusive. Is it running at 30 fps? Even though I hope for 60 fps, I am fine with that if the visuals don`t lose on the quality side. Flashing red border looks absolutely hideous. I still hope they can make a subtler effect for when you're in a critical state because that literally hurts my eyes. But aside from that everything looks awesome. Shortcuts are nice, but as already mentioned in the thread it would be nice not to open the shortcut wheel with as a menu the button. The reason I have shortcuts is not to go in the menu when I want to swap and that is still a menu, albeit brief. It would be great if we had the wheel appear, smaller, during gameplay, maybe slowing down time while it's out but not stopping the action completely (kinda like the weapon wheel in Doom 2016 on consoles) so that we could change sets even mid combat without halting the pace.

All hail Falcom. You just can't do anything but love them. kamuiarikado is 13 Sentinels coming out at all? Does it have a release date? I feel like that game disappeared from everyone's radar and was never heard of again, I'd be happy to be proven wrong though.

Yeah, probably jap only in the beginning. Which sucks, I loved Lacrimosa so much that after playing the PS4 digital version I bought the Collector's Edition on Switch and I don't even want to play that. For IX I'll get ALL THE COLLECTOR'S!

My most wanted game is certainly Ys IX - Monstrum Nox as it's the new game from one of my favorite series.
Then I'm still anticipating Sekiro because I won't be able to get it until April.
I'm also looking forward to Death Stranding (assuming it comes out this year), Code Vein (delayed and then disappeared from the face of the earth) and Blasphemous (another kickstarted thingie).

I hope this collection isn't crap. From a content point of view it seems fine with that number of games and the inclusion of Belmont's Revenge is surprising. The emulation must be done properly, though. I won't trust Konami until it's out, but I could buy it along with the Contra collection, if only to have a way to play certain titles without downloading emulators (which I hate) off the internet anymore.

Personally, I find it pretty hard not to symphatize with browren . A hugely successful Kickstarter campaign, with publisher investment on top, and you still don't get your money back for a cancellation like this. I don't know if browren is particularly attached to Igarashi's games or simply wanted another Castlevania-like game, but I'd personally feel gutted, because that would betray my faith and respect to an important figure (for me) as well as my trust and will to bring the project to life in the first place. I honestly felt guilty about enjoying the latest trailer with the release window and the improvements, because there are people, no matter how few, that are excluded from that. I also understand his perseverance. I'd be sour and bitter and would have let it go feeling that way, certain that I wouldn't want to deal with any of the parties involved ever again. Most of all I'd feel powerless, because all my attempts would result in a variation of "Yeah we're sorry but that's how it is, deal with it". browren is, in my eyes, trying to find the reasonable explanation for accepting how sh*t the situation is without being bitter to the team. I don't agree with him with everything he says or his occasional attitude (for the Nintendo Direct debacle for example) but I can't think he's doing a wrong thing by persevering with firm hand. What's worse I feel is the general sentiment of some folks that since some time has passed, everyone involved must forget about it, stop complaining and leave us basking in satisfaction at how the game's coming along. That's really not fair. People have been left in a shite state of affair and for whatever reason can't be told why, refunded in any capacity and then are expected to forget and be forgotten. It's just somehow acceptable because "Yeah there are like twelve Mac/Linux backers bro, they should easily be able to get another console". Everything is a small hiccup until it doesn't involve us personally. Those left on their own are absolutely right in making themselves heard and be even an uncomfortable presence if necessary. At the very least the team will learn to plan better next time, because if this whole situation never turned into a controversy, the implicit message would have been that it's okay because it's done to a small group of backers. That doesn't make it okay at all, and I'm baffled how some really thinks that people getting betrayed (strong word, but you understand my point) is less important than their own bubble of absolute positivity. I've been waiting since day one for this game and I trust it will be great. I don't regret spending what I spent or the time I spent in this community but this whole situation is a stain on all this and I'm sure I won't forget that anytime soon.

Is there any existing case of a game from the GBA or NDS era appearing on current gen consoles? Unless it was already a port of an older console like the SNES to begin with. It sounds incredibly unrealistic to hope in a GBA/NDS 'vania collection, but maybe it is indeed possible.
