I'm glad this isn't the actual backer shirt. The art is way off IMO. The theme is supposed to be stained glass. Those floral patterns are supposed to be stained on her skin or built into a window, not floating in the air in front of her. Miriam's hand in her face seems off too. She looks weak and not ready for a fight. That doesn't fit her character. 99% of the game she will be fighting and will have a weapon in her hand. The colors are dull and too limited. A copy and paste of the original proposed cover artwork would represent the game a million times better. Right now it looks like she is afraid of flowers.
As for the actual artwork, the artist clearly knows how to draw well and put something together. This is really a case of art misdirection. I hope a better job is done for the official backer shirt.

No preference. I'll just roll with whatever they decide, but I gotta say that drop rates for anything always seemed low to me across all previous Igavania games.

I completed Portrait of Ruin. Awesome game of course. Last saturday I started playing Order of Ecclesia for my second time. I haven't played it since 2009. Damn is it ever hard compared to Portrait of Ruin.

If loving her is wrong, I don't wanna be right. Whatever you do, just make sure you ask for consent first and respect eachother's boundaries. And maybe have a safe word, like "OH MY GOD WHAT'S GOING ON THIS IS WEIRD PLEASE STOP AAAAAH!" She's a manifestation of my two worst ex-girlfriends. There's no saving me.

I wanna take a bath with that boss. I don't care how hot she is, something about jumping in a bathtub full of blood with a chick that has her neck slit seems wrong to me on multiple levels, even if technically she's not dead because of the fact that she's a demon. Actually the fact that she's a demon probably adds to that wrongness. If loving her is wrong, I don't wanna be right.

Some pretty good points made on both sides of the crticism. I gotta wonder if the team ever gets stressed out from so much fan input though.

visuals are truly breathtaking. I do agree about the lack of physics a lot of others seem to have, but I wouldn't call that a big deal. main thing is just that Iga takes his time to perfect the game the best he can, no pressure to get this game out on any set date, but lots of pressure to make this game as great as it can be, if this game doesn't turn out great I don't think I'll have the confidence to ever back another kickstarter. My thoughts on the matter are damn near blind fanaticism, but remember all the handhelds IGA produced after SOTN: Harmony of Disonance Aria of Sorrow Dawn of Sorrow Portrait of Ruin Order of Ecclesia All five of them were masterpieces IMO and I hate handheld gaming. It was a big step down. He had to compromise any ambitions he would have had for big screen gaming and still produced awesome games. I don't think he dropped the ball once. I played them all over the years and saved Portrait of Ruin for last, having played it just last weekend while I had caught a retarded cold with fever and couldn't do anything else. I was, (once again) amazed at how much charm the graphics, music and game had for me. Having played Ecclesia and others much closer to their releases years ago I was a little wary on how much I would like Portrait, but the magic was all there. I've been dying for another big screen Igavania since the day I completed SOTN, but more importantly, IGA has been dying to make another one himself. Not trying to scold any skeptical fans. I just want you to remember his track record. He has never faltered or failed us before; not with SOTN when he had a lot of freedom and not with the handhelds when when he was restrained.

Huh... I thought the opposite was true about "leveling" Shards. Collecting more of the same would not improve the effect (and a number doesn't show up in the Shard equip screen). Ah well. For this thread, I'll treat it as if such a method to increase their strength exists. TRIGGER SHARD: Crystal SproutObtained from: Crystal Golem ( BOSS - See Bloodstained Enemy Discussion thread) Description: Progression ability; required to find certain Key Items. A magical crystal grows from the ground directly in front of Miriam at an accelerated rate, which will inflict EARTH-attribute damage to all enemies that come in contact with it. Items or Gold [money] can sometimes be uncovered from beneath floors and other surfaces. Leveling: Damage increases depending on total items found with this ability. EFFECTIVE SHARD: Evil ImpulseObtained from: Astaroth (Enemy) Description: Miriam's rational mind is temporarily overwhelmed by sadistic thoughts not her own, influenced by a demon's wicked intent. All normal weapon strikes and other non-elemental attacks are enhanced with DARK-attribute damage. Some enemies can be affected by a unique " Terror" status-ailment, causing them to flee in abject fear of Miriam. ( Miriam will occasionally laugh in a sinister manner upon successfully killing enemies.) Leveling: N/A DIRECTIONAL SHARD: Ossicle SpineObtained from: Decarabia ( BOSS - See Bloodstained Enemy Discussion thread; pay attention to a certain moment in the linked video.) Description: Progression ability; required until the "High Jump" ability is obtained. Miriam can conjure a flexible starfish arm to extend in any direction and inflict the Poison status-ailment on enemies that are vulnerable (only if they're weak against being Poisoned). It can also be used to grip onto ledges of higher surfaces that the Double-Jump ability alone can't reach. Leveling: N/A (Use of a "Pentagram" item can briefly strengthen the Poison effect on enemies.) ENCHANT SHARD: Blood MagicObtained from: Gashadokuro ( BOSS - See Bloodstained Enemy Discussion thread) Description: If equipped, Miriam gains the ability to restore her MP just by hitting enemies that bleed, and standing in the path of the blood-spray. Leveling: N/A FAMILIAR SHARD: Great-Duke Murmur (see Demons of The Lesser Key of Solomon thread)Obtained from: * Minister's Trumpet ( Relic; find a secret "audience room" and use the Minister's Trumpet. Murmur will appear and, after a short conversation, bestow a token of his favor upon Miriam.) Description: Late-game ability; Miriam can summon Murmur himself to unleash a barrage of attacks that cover the screen ( Wind-attribute). Leveling: Decrease MP-consumption rate (Murmur must participate in battle alongside Miriam). Whew! That's all I've got. I'm seriously hoping that the developers at least consider some of these ideas! " Crystal Golem" is giving me flashbacks to the Colecovision, and that's a trip I don't mind taking. thx!

Good eyes! It's almost embarrassing haha. Now that we're looking at this, we've improved so much from this demo. We can't wait to show the new stuff for E3. I am loving your enthusiasm! E3 coverage will be a feast for us starving fans. 😎😎😎👍👍👍

Interesting to see the numbers for the old games. With those in mind it would be hard to imagine that the team would have time to create much more than 100 enemies. The bigger castle may demand more. We would probably be fortunate to get 150.
The number of weapons is probably a different story. With the forging and parameters they have set there is probably potential for many times more than previous games. That would be cool, but also a hell of a lot of work balancing the posibilities.
I have nothing to base this next opinion on, but I have a feeling there will be a ton of items. Maybe a few hundred. Food items were one of my favorite to collect.
And finally, castles. I forgot that other handheld Castlevanias had two castles or another dimension, even though I played them all. (I only played the handhelds once.) With all the modes the team has to develop, I was trying not to get my hopes too higb, but now it's pretty obvious that something like a dupe castle or another dimension is really a staple of an Igavania game. I've raised my hopes again, but I will still be surprised if they do actually manage to do something extra to the entire layout in this respect.

Still wish they were doing staggered release, the only thing that ever truly mattered to me was the main game to begin with. To think that might be held back longer because of extra modes bums me out. I could be wrong, but I thought there was a thread here clarifying that at least some of the extra modes were getting developed after the main release.

I'm not worried about the development time. I think people that are worried are really out of touch with just how much work goes into making even the most mediocre games. Bloodstained is going to be epic in more ways than one. I hope the team is satisfied with what they've done by the set release and if they aren't, then I want them to take any extra time they need. It just doesn't faze me one bit. I wish anyone who's feeling a little ansty would just chill and let them do their thing.

Yeah the bat was definitely more useful. However, when you get that lightning run from the wolf, it became such a cool form to me. I like your cat idea The wolf's running was kinda useful, but transforming and double tapping the d pad usually wasn't worth it unless it was a really long hallway.

For miriam, a cat transformation would be cool. A simple house cat would be cute as hell. She could be brightly colored like the wolf was. Maybe purple and/or blue. Abilities like wall climbing or wall jumping could have more potential for use than what the wolf had. Running and an attack abilitity would still be welcome. A more powerful cat in the feline family could also be used. Anything from a lynx to a lion, but give me an adorable tabby or calico any day. There just aren't enough cats in games. I like the idea of a changing into a smaller cat that could potentially fit into places that you normally would not be able to. For whatever reason the thought of a calico cat that shared some of Miriam's crystal designs popped into my head when thinking on this. That would definitely work.

I don't care if it's too late to dicuss either. It's for fun and I'm also bored. I liked the bat and wolf from sotn. The bat was more fun and useful. The wolf was cool, but almost useless compared to the bat.

There is not a single game series that I love anymore, but I have loved and enjoyed many mentioned in these posts. Silent Hill would stick out if it wasn't dead. I wish for more there. These days I'm looking forward to something new like Cyberpunk 2077 and of course, the renewal of an Igavania game rather than another Gears of War, Elder Scrolls, Uncharted or Zelda, etc.
