Hmm, it seems that Curry the Kid is in hot demand, with Yuji Natsume coming in a close second! I also heard from a friend that "I'd love to hear about those in charge of the level (room) design, but also those responsible for the chars and monster animations... what's diff from CV, what's tough to deal with, what's gratifying, etc. of course character and monster design talk would be great too!" So yeah, I'll pass this on to Mana and the staff

I have not downloaded the demo, but thanks for informing everyone about that. Seems kinda weird. It might be nothing, I looked it up online and it seems sometimes windows automatically encrypts things. My antivirus programs arent detecting anything :0

Quick question, nothing serious but I downloaded the demo of the game from IndieDB and ever since then my computer has been saying something about an encryption key. I mentioned it to the devs (DuckBlockGames) on Twitter here, with screencaps: I downloaded the demo from here: www.indiedb.com/games/forsaken-castle/downloads/forsaken-castle-pre-alpha-1-build-windowsAnyone else had this occur? I think it's probably nothing, but the devs are curious.

Hey everyone! Some friends of mine mentioned this to me, and I've been talking about it with Mana and XombieMike a little, so I thought now would be a good time to bring it to the community. Essentially, folks have been enjoying the ask IGA vids. However, IGA is also just one guy (the producer, writer, spokesperson, etc.) for the project. Folks have been wondering if it might be possible to hear from, say, programmers, level designers, artists, or other team members. One example given was Curry the Kid, a planner and programmer from the old IGAvania days that we were very glad to see brought on to Bloodstained So, given this, I'd like to ask the community a couple questions: 1: What other staff members would you like to hear from? I know some folks wanna talk to Curry the Kid, anyone else? Maybe Natsume-san, our artist? Or any other positions, like AI programmers, asset creators, anything like that? I wanna know what you guys are interested in so we can work something out 2: How would you like interviews to be carried out? I'm not sure about the Bloodstained Community Broadcast, when Mike brought that up Mana said some team members might prefer text-based methods rather than anything with voice (it would make it easier to translate too). With that in mind, would you guys like a thread for Mana to look at to collect questions for other team members, Tweets from the official bloodstained Twitter, posts on the update pages...let's brainstorm! The team is very busy right now, but after the first couple of weeks in May they should have a bit of the pressure lifted, so let's use that time to come up with some great ideas we can share with them when they're available

Yeah, he might have been referring to a lot of the discussions at other places. At the CV Dungeon, for instance, some folks preferred the "Classic" castlevania to the IGAvanias. Pretty much everybody is excited for Bloodstained over there, though, since the classic mode ought to make both IGAvania fans and Classicvania fans happy ;D

Thanks, Goobie. A very informative presentation. Not much about the game itself, but I guess that information is more appropriate for the updates. Fortunately, I thought the statistics about the Kickstarter were both fascinating and thought-provoking. It hadn't occurred to me that the number of comments on the page might have been considerably less than the amount of donors at first.

Time for me to chime in. I'm a bit embarrassed that I've become somewhat of a shadow mod over this past year. I have 6 kids, I work 50-60 hours weekly, and I've given almost all of my spare time to developing my backer content for Bloodstained. I've updated my content descriptions on the Original Post, but I'll comment here regarding my ideas that had to be abandoned... You may remember that I offered multiple proposals for each content category. I took this approach to avoid serious impasses and uncomfortable compromises. It's not healthy to "get married" to any particular idea. I paid good money to participate, but I respect the fact that I'm still a guest at Igarashi's table --honored and privileged by this once in a lifetime opportunity. --Weapons-- The Power Purse had to abandoned due to complications with the growing aspect of the purse. The main idea was that purse needed to grow larger and larger as Miriam filled it with Gold. This required not only multiple models for the purse, but some unique animations as well. It just didn't fit the established framework. Too much extra work for the team and ultimately unfair to other Runic Forgers. The Bloodlust had to be abandoned because the whips's long range undermined the "Dark Metamorphosis" concept. The Bloodspatter would be too far away for Miriam to absorb it. The team also informed me that a similar concept was already in development... --Monsters-- The Undead Executive was abandoned very early. Although I loved the idea, It never took shape the way I had hoped. The team really didn't have much to say --and the more I worked on it, the less inspired I felt. No regrets leaving this one behind... The Easter Bunny had to be abandoned for a number of reasons... First there were complications transforming the Cute Bunny into an Evil Rabbit from the deepest pits of Hell. Naturally there would need to be 2 character models, each with their own distinct behaviors pushing up against clear limits set by the development team. This might have worked with a few modest compromises, but the Easter Bunny also needed to serve a clear purpose --real Easter Egg content. I suggested a wide variety of Castlevania-themed Easter Eggs for the Bunny to carry. I also suggested an "Easter Egg Hunt" crystal shard for the Bunny to drop. I felt very strongly that Easter Egg content was necessary to justify the Easter Bunny's inclusion. In the end, these ideas simply overstepped my privilege. --Secret Room--- The Developer Room was proposed knowing full well that it was impossible... It needed too much space, too many assets, and too many functions... Oh well, maybe someday... The Concert Hall had to be abandoned because the proposal was beyond my privilege. Even if all the musicians agreed to participate, developing and animating all of their character models would be a very big job. At the end of the day I'm privileged to be making a room. New character models aren't part of the deal, and I respect that. The Sexy Bath was perhaps my favorite content proposal, but it was beyond my privilege to get Miriam remodeled for a bikini. I never thought to ask, but looking back maybe there were some character concerns about this idea... Miriam's an orphan --has she ever enjoyed or desired such luxury? Now this gets a little bit complicated... The development team *wanted* to proceed with the Sacred Chapel, but I cut them off when I learned just *how* they wanted to use it. There was a misunderstanding about the nature of the secret room, and I want to explain, but I really can't... There's still too much up in the air right now... And finally we come to the character room... Miriam's Room... The team was willing, but I just couldn't proceed the way they suggested. Too many compromises needed to be made, too many sacrifices... So I had to let it go... I'm very pleased however that some of the features I suggested will be appearing elsewhere in the game. Hey, you're doing a good job as mod, don't worry if real life is keeping you busy Any support is useful, I'm sure Mike and the rest of the team would agree. That said, I'm definitely glad for this insight into content creation! It seems like the team is giving everyone's ideas a lot of thought and really taking everything seriously--that's the kinda stuff I like to see! Even if there's a lot of discussion and planning to be had, and even if you have to give up on a lot of ideas, it just means that the ideas we will end up seeing are gonna be even better!
