They're always thinking of the fans...though why someone would even want a SFW version from these devs is another question. Nobody who knows who Libra Heart or Critical Bliss even are would be the least bit concerned about keeping things SFW XD

I don't believe so. At the moment I'd wager Artplay and IGA are concentrating on making the game itself as good as can be; external merchandise outside of the KS goals would only come after that. They could do some at this point if they wanted/it was a priority and made sense financially/a deal worked out. We were previously telling people "no merch like that until the game is out", and then changing the story to "well they have to make the game better" and eventually "well it's too late now for merch" is just kind of weak. I just don't think it's something they feel like they're big enough to merchandise yet, and perhaps for good reason. Castlevania itself was in general not big enough for merchandise most of the time. Something I recently realized - Richter Belmont's amiibo is the first time that character has ever had anything physically made of him, and the ones that *do* have things don't have much. It could happen, but it doesn't have as much to do with "what they're busy with right now" as opposed to the viability of a deal lining up that makes sense for the brand. That's what I think anyway. Yeah, you know more about licensing so I think you're right here. From a licensing perspective, it may not make sense to start producing bloodstained merch before the series has met a certain threshold of visibility and popularity.

Something tells me that if enough people complain about it online they'll add it at a later date. They may very well indeed, but, personally, I wouldn't bet on it. I think they're more likely to add it in the eventual sequel, if at all. With their very noticeable exceptions (see FFXIV post Yoshi-P) Japanese developers are, for the most part, not very knowledgeable about online-play in general (see FFXIV pre Yoshi-P). Some of them will use the excuse that you have to "design around lag and we don't have time to do that" (see Trials of Mana), but, at the end of the day, they probably just don't have anyone on the team who can reliably implement online play and - since it's not that big in Japan - perceive no incentive to implementing it, specially since they themselves probably wouldn't use the mode. Things are slowly changing, of course, but just as with everything else, it'll be a decade or so before the "old guard" gets with the program. I obviously hope I'm wrong, though. I bet Wayforward wouldn't have a problem implementing that sorta stuff. Maybe if they were brought on to RoTN2 (as opposed to CotM and CotM2, which are all Inti) we could see that feature...psst, IGA! Hint hint!

That's a little rude, Mr. Welldone , I don't care for 'devil's advocate' discussion myself, but since Purify didn't take it so hard and saw where anon was coming from, I don't think there's any reason for being snippy. It's not a major thing, that's why I'm just leaving a note here, but don't be too confrontational if its not really necessary. With all that said, I would have preferred more substantive content for Zangetsu mode too, but I don't think there were many bad moves in regards to Mr. Hayter. First, keep in mind that contracts are important--I think it's likely he signed on to do just the main game, if he knew he was going to voice Zangetsu for another mode as well, his price would have been higher. Secondly, Hayter's been in the business for a while and he knows how troublesome game development can be. I don't think he would have been overly surprised to hear that the extra character modes ended up being a little slim, that just happens when you have deadlines and budgets and stuff. Let's hope CotM2 makes enough of a splash that IGA has money and enthusiasm for Bloodstained 2--then maybe Hayter can come back as Zangetsu and really show off!

Few interesting notes about the trailer. Curse of the Moon 2 seems to be referencing other 2D classics. I kind of find it strange how it sort of goes out of its way to give nostalgia nods when I feel like it's strong enough to stand on its own if it wants. It's almost like it has a vibe where it wants us to see the winks and chuckle. Here are some examples: *Zangetsu flying into his mission on a glider = Capcom's Strider flying into his first mission on a glider. *Dominique's pogo stick staff attack = Capcom's DuckTales (...Zelda II's down thrust, and more recently, Shovel Knight) *Hachi = Capcom's Mega Man X series' Ride Armors. *(Maybe less so) The rising moai heads = Konami's Gradius shout-out? Anybody else spot these and/or get the impression it's winking at long-time gamers? I agree that it's strong enough to stand on its own, but these knowing winks are large parts of its appeal. I mean, Shovel Knight (the base game) was constructed almost entirely around winking at DuckTales, as the pogo down attack is central to the play. You'd be surprised at how many people will go above and beyond for a game that stokes their nostalgia, overtly or subtly. Thus, I don't see any reason to avoid nostalgia winks wherever you can get 'em. Obviously, if they're too excessive to the point of distraction or unoriginal to the point of plagiarism, *then* they're bad, but as I'm sure we can both agree, CoTM isn't anywhere near that level and right now it's very pleasing.

Guys, while I understand this release may be polarizing in some ways--some folks are very happy with it, while others find the new modes underwhelming--let's keep things respectful, please. championeternal777 , again, I can understand being disappointed with Zangetsu mode, but don't accuse others of making "pitiful excuses." Remember that when Richter Mode was added back in SoTN days, they could re-use all of Richter's sprites, Richter was already playable in the very beginning of the game, and of course there wasn't a coronavirus going around making work harder. Yes, the wait was annoying, but considering the effort involved in making a brand-new game from scratch with no assets from previous games, combined with having to do so under a global pandemic, I think it's reasonable to be a little less harsh on both the developers and the fans.

No! Working from home, bro! Internet distribution of various products (physical or otherwise), homie! Distance business meetings and/or e-learning sessions, ese! Those are a thing and in our nice, modern era with all the cozy, convenient tech around, they be booming and thriving! There. Is. Literally. ZERO. Excuse. *_* Now, please, let them work meticulously and continue uninterrupted, so as we can see to our investment NOT having been wasted or god-forbid; our good-faith abused :@ I would imagine working from home would be very much possible in game development, and, if anything would give them more time to focus on completing their current projects. Guess we'll see! I hardly expect the game to go belly-up or for more features to be cut after this, but I would expect delays. The virus is no joke even for young people, so if any team members or their family have come down with it, that could cause a delay, even if they're working from home. Let's hope that hasn't happened, though, and pray or hope for the continued good health of the team. That's the best way to get a return on our investment.
