Good luck to the devs on that big switch patch! Sounds like a ton of work.

I don't like overly tanky enemies so just upping their def and HP to super high levels would only serve to frustrate me.

I don't see why you shouldn't be able to do something like that nowadays. Would not be able to see that in China but apart from that, I think it's fine. I mean, there are horror games coming out these days that do worse stuff than that in terms of gore so I don't get the point.

aoanla I generally agree - a first boss shouldn't be all that hard to beat. I'm sorry Vepar has been giving you such a hard time and I can empathize: Back when I was playing Castlevania: Symphony of the Night for the first time many years ago, I couldn't beat the first boss for an hour and put the game away. It was only years later that I picked it up again and recognized how much I was missing out on by stopping to play back then. Maybe it'll just take a little time and with a fresh approach you'll beat the boss. Good luck!

aoanla Nah, that's only one possible option if you don't feel like mastering the patterns of a boss. You can certainly beat every boss in the game without any grinding. Just takes some practice then ^^ The game opens up more after the ship and you'll have even more ways to progress. Hope you'll get there, cause I think it's a great game overall. Cheers!

Well - we don't know for sure that Gebel is dead, and I think Alfred will be around in earlier games.
About the Gebel thing? How do we not know? He crystallized right in front of our eyes. I think Zangetsu is the one who didn't actually die. His shadow can be seen coming into the frame on the bottom right right before the credits roll.

Thing is, it's hard to predict what an NG+ run looks like. After a playthrough you might have everything or very little stuff. I don't quite know how they'd adjust the difficulty for every conceivable setup.

Zero times: I've not picked it up since spending an hour failing to beat the first boss, so I'm waiting until I recover enough interest to batter off it and get to the actually interesting part of the game. and yet the dev decided to nerf the game. Now, you have even lower chance to beat the boss. This is hardly true. The only ability that you can have at that point that was nerfed slightly is flame cannon which is absolutely not needed or even that good of a strategy to beat Vepar. Come on now, we can be against the nerfs but let's not be ridiculous.

aoanla if you're struggling my suggestion would be to farm head flail from dullahammer and ether from ghosts. That way you can power up quite a bit before attempting the boss fight again. You could also take a look at lai's boss beating guide here on the forums to get a better understanding of how best to avoid Vepar's attacks.

purifyweirdshard about craftwork, yeah I read that before. Could be the reason but to me as a player it was already not viable enough to use it casually for damage dealing and using it constantly during regular gameplay honestly seems very hard to do. There are already more buttons to press than the fingers I have available so this would be really hard to pull off effectively. I'd really appreciate it if some of these nerfs would increase the cost to get somewhere rather than making that somewhere just kind of boring and useless. For instance, they could give craftwork an MP starting cost. Boom, problem solved.

OR they're all in truth like Yaen and were just on principle against any changes at all - but again, if that were so, the reasoning and statements from before aren't consistent with that from what I can tell. Hey there, never said I was against all changes no matter what. Just a bit unhappy about the exact things they changed regarding the dullahammer heads and craftwork (the latter deserved to be MORE useful in my opinion). On a positive note for example, I highly welcome the bug fixes they did on this newest patch. I'd also appreciate if they made some currently useless stuff somewhat useful. Like, what's the deal with chairs? They're all over the place, make them useful if I have the chair shard levelled to 9. Why does the Silver Knight often take so long to engage in combat? Make him do it more quickly. I could honestly also get behind if they were to nerf late-game guns as I think that at some point in the game they just become the best weapon no matter what. It's not that I'm against changes but that the specific nerfs they made are either weird, unnecessary or annoying. Did they turn the game into a bad game? Hell no, it's still one of my favourite games these days, if I didn't like it I wouldn't post here anymore. Did the nerfs improve the game? Again, absolutely not. They just turned a thing I love into a slightly worse version of itself.
Besides that, I am of course happy that you are happy with the nerfs and your enjoyment of the game is unhindered. That's great for you, really! For me it's not THAT big of a deal but enough to post about my thoughts on the changes they implemented.
Regarding consistency: We're not all one person. We may have different opinions on why the nerfs are not quite welcome to us, individually.

In my experience I mostly dislike the changes they made to the dullahammer heads, both enemy and familiar. The former is simply more annoying now and the latter has gone from best familiar to pretty much useless in nightmare mode.
Besides that, I still find the change to craftwork bizarre.
Welcome company never mattered to me since it was way too annoying that I had to re-cast it when entering a new room so I wasn't using it before. Don't really feel the changes to riga storaema / dohin. In my current run I'm already past flying edge and rhava bural being useful anyway so can't tell if the effect on those is bad or meaningless.
That's the thing though - mostly these effects are either bad or meaningless. In either case there's no good reason to do it.

I agree. Along with some other features that appear only in the early game, this was probably cut short due to time constraints but still kept as a half-done barebones version of the feature...

And meanwhile I make a thread on the fun side of things about ideas for the cosmetics items and get zero replies. It's mostly complaint/reactionary stuff around here lately and it bothers me more than it should. It's just that most who would otherwise engage positively are playing the game or have moved on to their next game. I think that this is actually the natural progression of how things like this go, but I miss the excitement and discussion of what was to be. Well the reason for that would be that lately the news haven't been all that great, have they? Most of what was communicated in updates and patches has been controversial with half the fandom being against it. I'd actually love to have some more in-depth discussions about the game as it is right now. Things like: How linear is it compared to other Igavanias, what's your favourite weapon, how much do use trigger vs directional shards, what's your favourite backer boss, guess which enemies are backer content, how do you feel about the metroidvania-key-abilities in this game, how could they be better / different??? and so on and so forth.
However, the way things have recently gone, it just hasn't been all that positive so people feel like there are more urgent things to discuss. On these forums, new updates have always been major discussion points. They've always brought people back here to talk about the news. When you get updates that are controversial like this one, of course people will come here and argue about it. I'd like it to be more positive but I actually think that most people here are complaining about changes and proposals they don't like because they love the game and they want it to be good. I just hope that people can at least keep it together and stay civilized and friendly even if they have strong feelings about the topic at hand.
One reason why your thread didn't take off may be that paid cosmetics are not fun for everyone and are highly contested themselves. Many people simply reject their existence.
Just my two cents Hope that things will all turn around once they release the first major free DLC or even just have some news about it. I'm definitely looking forward to that

Used to be Dullahammer Head, post nerf it's Buer, though Silver Knight can also be helpful still depending on the situation due to the projectile blocking ability. Dullahammer Head is now totally useless, especially in nightmare mode.

I feel that this is a loaded question (as in you own the dealer, judge, broadcast, and ref type of loaded) and it misses the reason behind the nerfs. Barely anyone is going to answer no because unless they fall within some rather specific categories. The question is also just plain worded badly. I like being OP, during the endgame, but I want to struggle in the path up to that so what do I answer? A lot of nuances are missing here. As much as I don't like some of these nerfs, I have to agree with you here. Unable to answer since the poll is so extremely black and white.
