I played for an hour yesterday, and found it pleasing. Still working out the games combat system, however.

Yes a Jinn familiar!! That would be sick.
Basically I love Jinns! I want Jinns in the game !!
sorry about getting heady, everyone. Haha
I still can't resist because I picked up a great book on Jinns (ts called World of Jinn by Amira El-Zein, who is a visiting professor at Georgetown University. The book is a thorough klook at Jinn, Ghoul, and the various intermediaries between realms.
The Philosophers Stone in Arabic is called Al Iksar (Elixer)., Key of Solomon is inspired by Solomon's court of Jinns, from my research.

Hey thanks for your reply!
Would love to tell you more about Jinn! J-N, the arabic root, means "hidden." According to Pre-Islamic sources, as well as the Qur'an, Jinn are hidden beings, with free will. Saying a Jinn a demon is unfair. Jinns are not bad, the way the demons in the bible are evil.
There are many nations, kingdoms, societies and religions in the world of Jinn. There are Jewish, Hindu, Muslim and atheist Jinns. According to religious sources, Jinns are made of fire/the light of lightning, and humans are made out of clay.
How I imagine this all coming together is through Alchemy. Jinns in their world have other substances unknown to man. Thinks like Red Sulfur (Red King), or other transmutational materials could be obtained from the realm of Jinn.
My personal hope is Bloodstained tells a very global story, as Alchemy is a global phenomenon. My favorite Iga games (Dawn & Aria of Sorrow) are fun because you get to play a Japanese college kid who somehow ends up in an ancient vampire's castle. I get that Bloodstained takes place in England, but the world was small at that point. Small enough for eldritch wisdom from the Greeks to be passed to the Muslims to then end up in the hands of Alchemists in England.
Throughout the stories of 1001 Arabian Nights, & oral traditions from Algeria to China,

Hello & salaam to my fellow bloodstained community members!
I remember reading that both the lesser key of Solomon and alchemy will play a part in bloodstained. Both of those have roots in the Islamic empire during the medieval period.
the lesser key of Solomon is based on such sources. In the Quran, King Solomon rules over both Jinn and Animals, and has powerful Efrit confined and under his control. This is also mentioned in 1001 Arabian Nights.
Alchemy has very Near Eastern (as well as South Asian) roots. The alchemist Geber is actually Abū Muḥammad Jābir ibn Aflaḥ, or Jabir. We get our word elixir from his Al Iksir, a red sulphuric powder used to transmutate base metals to gold.
I love Iga, and have been listening to his interviews. I get that it's set in London, but does the inclusion of Geber & mentions of lesser key of Solomon mean there may be some Jinns or Eastern touches in there?
I hope so but I don't mind if not. I would love it if there was an Arab/Brown or Muslim character though. I also love jinns (grew up on Jinn stories).

Lots of oldschool fans here -- Loved the series since Gold, but I have to say Gourgeist is my absolute favorite design. She's my trickroom setter =D
