Well if it isn't the laziest thing possible lol
Maybe it'll have...something? added to it? Probably filters and input lag, I imagine. Otherwise it'll be like a new, worse Dracula X Chronicles.

If it comes to Switch, it will sell a lot! 😀 I think it is a perfect place for these games.

Well, at the very least, it'll be great for newcomers to have an easier way of buying Rondo of Blood.

That's true, I was initially a bit more negative on it, but it's a good way for wider/newer audiences to play these games.

I'm hoping that this SotN will come with an option to switch between Japanese, PS1 english and Dracula X Chronicles english.

Awesome. But I hope the collection is bigger than those two games. Still, Isabelle got announced for Smash recently, and she was yet another Smash character connected to Vergeben's statements. I've been saying for a while, too many things have come true from leaks/rumors related to the Castlevania collection and new Castlevania game. Interesting times. I think Vergeben said that Adventure Rebirth could be in the cards, and if that's the case, there's surely a few more games. But then again, that could be unrelated. Regardless, prepare yourself, because I think a new Castlevania of some sort is inevitable now. (I think the rumors originally said it would be for Switch, too.)

Still not believing anything unless it's announced and possibly not even then. Also, if ReBirth returns, they'd better allow for some music alterations. The presence of a properly arranged version of Battle of the Holy in the soundtrack that WASN'T USED IN THE GAME ITSELF is just ridiculous.

I don't give in to rumours, however, I would seriously wish there was a good package of games, if this happens to be true. Most collections out there are not perfect and lack some options, but a least generally have a decent amount of content. For Castlevania, I wish they would take a similar route as that of the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection, including most of the games that are not spin-offs, and having a lot of concept art and whatnot. Also of course, good quality emulation and more options for screen resolutions for each game (I don't know why every company can't do that for their collections, there's always at least one game that gets screwed by the lack of options, or just becomes stretched by default).
I really doubt they would do it, but it's the only thing that would make me remotely interested, since most of these games can be played easily somewhere else. If they really wanted, they could honor the history of the series with the most complete package ever, and detailed bonuses such as interviews, commercials, trailers, history behind each game's development, merchandise and probably even more. But it's Konami, so I really doubt it, not even Capcom's collections are that expansive (although still worth paying for what is offered in my opinion), so let alone Konami, which has become synonym with lazy and greedy.
I would just love to have a collection with extremely rare games, such as Haunted Castle for the Arcade, Vampire Killer for the MSX, the Arcade games and so on. But they don't seem to care anymore, if they just want to do less than the bare minimum for a collection, I honestly wouldn't be interested at all. The existence of Super Bomberman R and some beloved characters being in Smash really make me want to feel a bit hopeful again, but I'm still careful about getting my hopes up, because to me those still read as exceptions rather than the rule.
After all, besides that, they haven't done anything really. To think what was once one of my favourite game companies, being now less than a shadow of its former self, it's disappointing to say the least. I know Capcom, Sega and Nintendo get some flack once in a while for not using a lot of their series and relying on the same games all the time, but at least they still make games, and all of them seem to be willing to bring some old series that was in hiatus back again. And while they all have their problems, if someone told me one of them was going to bring back one of their old series in a big collection, I would at least give it the benefit of a doubt, as I believe that all of them can deliver a quality collection if they want to, as long as there's demand.

i really wouldnt consider this a rumor, if its anything like esrb you have to pay them to get a rating so konami is not gonna spend money unless theres something coming thatll make them money (especially fukonami)
can anybody that knows korean see if any of the other cv games are already rated on that site from before?

I don't think we're the target audience, either way. This is for the mass of people that watched the show or haven't been into the games in a long time/ever that want to pick something up that can be accessed on a modern console. It doesn't even really need anything extra to be sold to them, so I don't expect it, plus Konami being how they are of course.
I was just thinking recently that this could actually be a rebranded DXC itself, as that would be the simplest thing to do for them most likely. The games on that compilation already had adjustments/borders made to fit a widescreen, so they'dprobably reuse a lot of that work and assets, plus potentially even including the remake of Rondo itself. Do that, maybe add some filters/scanline things etc and call it a day probably.

yeah sadly dxc was my first thought when i saw just those 2, and it is technically a collection they would only need to spend pennies to port, since its already on the psn for psp and psv
wow, they consider "anti-societal" in their rating...

hmmm, interesting. I don't know how all that works myself, and maybe it depends on how much re-titling something is worth to them lol. It would be great as MorningSun says if they went the Capcom route with content (i.e. a lot of games, galleries, timeline stuff), but yeah...I'd mostly just hope a "not screw it up" result.

I'm a little surprised to hear this is looking more and more like it's just Rondo of Blood and SotN. ( comicbook.com/gaming/2018/09/24/-castlevania-requiem-official-esrb-rating-announcement-imminent/) And if so, it'd make sense if they're the PSP versions, because that was the only time Rondo was translated, and both were optimized for widescreen. That'd also explain why it might be for PS4 only... I'm not totally surprised that Konami would do this, though. This sort of feels like the Castlevania atmosphere that's been created by the most vocal fans and more casual gamers, especially outside of the community proper. I mean, yes, there are the vocal crowds who like the GBA era the best or the pre- Rondo titles, but my personal experience with reading reactions has been that the mainstream narrative about Castlevania over the last 12 or so years has become that Rondo was the best evolution of the "Classicvania" formula and Symphony of the Night was the Metroidvania to end all Metroidvanias. Meanwhile, the consensus about the rest of the franchise has seemed to generally become: Castlevania 1 might as well not exist and is just for the history books; Castlevania II is a living meme and broken game; the original Gameboy trilogy never happened--and if it did, the first is broken, the second is a secret gem, and the third is boring; Castlevania III is sorta great but too old and hard to be given a lot of credit; Super Castlevania IV is overrated and majorly flawed because it gives you too many options with the whip and fools around too much with Mode 7; Bloodlines never happened; Dracula XX/Vampire's Kiss was a terrible Rondo port--nothing more, nothing less; Castlevania 64 may be the worst Castlevania game (and among the worst 3D games ever)--heck, those goofy motorcycle skeletons alone are enough to pass on it; Legacy of Darkness never happened; Circle of the Moon is really dark but might just be a good Metroidvania deep down--or maybe not; Harmony of Dissonance was convoluted but felt more like Symphony of the Night than Circle of the Moon; Aria of Sorrow might be the best Metroidvania, but then again maybe not as good as Symphony of the Night; Dawn of Sorrow was a nice visual update of Aria of Sorrow but had too many touchscreen gimmicks and wasn't as good; Portrait of Ruin was too repetitive; Order of Ecclesia added some nice challenge but no one's sure whether it had enough Metroidvania in it to be great; Lament of Innocence was a pretty good 3D Castlevania game; Curse of Darkness was a pretty good 3D Castlevania game; Lords of Shadow was a pretty good 3D Castlevania game; Mirror of Fate kinda-sorta never happened; Adventure Rebirth never happened; Lords of Shadow 2 ruined Lords of Shadow with too much stealth... I don't agree with all of those assessments by any means--I vehemently disagree with some in particular (especially the N64 hate)--but that's where Castlevania is kind of stuck at the moment in pop culture. Rondo and SotN are among the few that are seen as relevant and truly special gems that have overcome all barriers of time and critics*. So, Konami is seemingly giving the people what they want, and also trying to distill an experience they think might be accessible and intriguing to people coming in fresh from Netflix or all the new Metroidvania-style games out there. *To insert myself for a second, just about Rondo and SotN, I think it makes a solid, basic package, particularly considering the two stories connect, but Rondo has never quite lived up to the hype for me. I knew of its existence during the mid-90s, and felt very intrigued by all of the images and stories surrounding it, but I didn't get to play it until the PSP release. Had I played it in 1993, I might feel differently. I think it has a lot of great ideas and visuals and gameplay, and is super ambitious, but the way you are always able to transition onto alternate paths, with no one correct path to save all of the maidens, and those sometimes sharp transitions for boss-preparation rooms, makes it feel sort of "uneven" or "jerky" or "noncommittal" in its stage progression. That pulls me out of the flow of the gameplay experience more than I'd like. Still a great game, and I go back and forth about how much I like or don't like it, but it's never been one of my favorites, personally. Meanwhile, SotN is one of those games that I've played through about twice, maybe three times, I think. It's great, especially with how it pulls you in with its atmosphere (something most of the later Metroidvanias struggle with at times), but I've always thought of the Metroidvania formula as more of a spinoff concept than a full-on evolution for Castlevania. So, it's also not one of my favorites, and it's become so iconic and familiar and influential that it's getting harder to revisit as time goes on. (Frankly, to me, there's been so many Metroidvanias within the franchise now, that it's somehow made SotN stand out a little less in some ways--seem somewhat less special--despite the fact that I think it's probably still either at the top or right near the top of the heap for the genre) Personally, given how inaccessible it's become since it was only released on Sega Genesis, any collection really needed to have Bloodlines for me to commit to it. In an ideal world, a basic collection, in my mind--in other words, the least I would have wanted--would have had these games at minimum: Castlevania 1-4, Bloodlines, Dracula XX, Rondo of Blood, Symphony of the Night. But beggars can't be choosers, and any collection is a decent sign for the IP. So, regardless, if rumors hold going forward, here's hoping the new game is, at the least, Dracula's Curse meets Super Castlevania IV. And I hope, whatever happens, that the Netflix aesthetic doesn't become a default game aesthetic.

With Simon and Ritcher coming to smash, this just seems like wasted potential if you ask me.
Don't get me wrong. I don't think it should be a exclusive for the switch either. I think that this should be released in all 4 plataforms (Steam counts) for maximun profits, specially for what are basically ports that have been re-released several times already.

Looks like I was right lol. Something is more than nothing though (assuming the porting isn't awful). I hope not many were expecting anything more than this edit: Also what makes this especially lol to me is that they're using DXC's artwork to promote it. Those are different character designs, but not sure they realize that or cared to look into it, knowing Konami lol

I hope you'll be able to choose which dub you want, in the case of Symphony.
Did the emulated version in Dracula X Chronicles include subtitles for Rondo's cutscenes? If not, that'd also be a lovely option.
