Arcueid Brunestud: Just checking but in the graphics setting for PC, Cinematic is better than Epic right? What exactly is the difference? Jun 25, 2019 14:29:07 GMT -6
Arcueid Brunestud Avatar
Arcueid Brunestud: Asking cause some games have a "Cinematic" mode where they lower the framerate to 30fps but up the quality of the textures and graphics. Jun 25, 2019 14:29:59 GMT -6

Ciel: Cinematic is indeed the best option, but I have yet to spot any difference Jun 25, 2019 14:39:08 GMT -6

asterra: We talking about anti-aliasing? I traveled this road so I'll offer my observations. First: The in-game anti-aliasing has little to no effect, in large part due to the post-process black outlining (and some other effects) the game implements, which has Jun 25, 2019 15:55:54 GMT -6

asterra: UNDEFEATABLE aliasing. Second, you can get modestly decent anti-aliasing by adding r.ScreenPercentage=200 to engine.ini (Google around for specifics). This is Unreal Engine 4 doing a very dirty supersampling. I say it's "dirty" because the algorithm Jun 25, 2019 15:57:29 GMT -6

asterra: used by said engine to downscale the 4K render is awful. So awful that it almost completely defeats the point of supersampling in the first place. But it's better than nothing. The only other way to get this to work, since it can't be forced via Nvidia Jun 25, 2019 15:58:52 GMT -6

asterra: Profile Inspector, is to force one's desktop into supersampling mode and then play the game like that. This gives beautiful anti-aliasing BUT it also supersamples the game's menus which causes them to be noticeably blurrier than they're meant to be. Jun 25, 2019 16:00:01 GMT -6
asterra Avatar
asterra: One final thing to note. The aforementioned black outline post-process seems to come AFTER UE4's supersampling, so it's aliased at your native resolution no matter what. It's by far the ugliest thing about this game's visuals and I really wish they'd Jun 25, 2019 16:01:26 GMT -6

asterra: given the user a way to turn on anti-aliasing for it, or maybe even just turn it off altogether if anti-aliasing is just not possible. Jun 25, 2019 16:01:56 GMT -6
