Some of you may remember I have promoted Bloodstained with the local gaming podcast: Good Ole Gamers. I've actually become really good friends with Lyle and Brandon since then. In fact I was just over Lyle's house last month.
It's crazy to think everything I saw in that house except for Lyle, his girlfriend Emerald and their cats and dog are just gone. Emerald works at a pet store and has amassed quite the heard of pets. I have pictures of me petting one of her skunks. Unfortunately, the skunks, bearded dragons, iguana, bird, fish, animals I probably didn't even know about... all of them burned to death.
Last year was really tough for Lyle because his grandfather who basically raised him died. He didn't take it well. On top of that they discovered his dad has cancer and are still dealing with that. 2017 was bad, but at 2 am or so on new years day faulty wiring caused an electrical fire in the attic of Lyle's house. The wind and the frozen fire fighting equipment issues that hampered the efforts of the fire fighters left nothing. Lyle is a collector of retro gaming hardware and horror memorabilia. A lifetime of serious game collecting that is gone. He loved all that stuff enough to make a podcast about it. It really was his passion. Lyle recently finished his grandfather's save file on the original Zelda gold cart. Now it's gone, and I know that was a special connection for him that can never be returned. Because they were renting and planning on moving they didn't get renter's insurance. They are having to start from scratch.
I'm going to give all I can. I'm going to show him there are people out there that care. I hope it inspires you to consider that as well. I've already had a few of the Bloodstained community tell me they are helping out. To you, thanks again. To all of you that do, from the bottom of my heart, thanks.

Arsenical: i know that some countries and states actually care about rating and ask for an ID before selling you physical copies but thats not my case, here you can see 12 year old kids buying call of duty or GTA and nobody says a word about it.

Scars Unseen: Which is hilarious, because the entire purpose of the ESRB is to prove that the industry can regulate itself so that they avoid actual regulation.

ghaleon: Not really IMO. I mean lot watched rated R movies when I was a kid. Bear in mind back when I was a kid they would give R rated movies to ones with violence rather than just sex. Like the Terminator, Robocop, etc

Scars Unseen: No, that's literally the reason the ESRB exists. There was a lot of talk in the 90s about regulating video game violence, and a coalition of publishers including Nintendo, Sega, EA and Acclaim got together and created the ESRB to prevent it from happening

ghaleon: I thought you were saying it was hilarious that arsen see's 12 year olds buying certain rated games, not that they are asking for ID

ikai: Video games is technically a form of art, as well as movies. In free and democratic societies, art should never be conscripted, press should never be yellow and both should never be censored.

Scars Unseen: Freedom is never absolute and never should be. Pornography is also technically a form of art, yet we've seen fit not to allow it when children are involved. There's always a balance needed, and art doesn't get exempted from that.

ikai: "He who gives up freedom for safety deserves neither"... Alas. Besides, the more you try to protect yourself from something, the more said something, happens in your domain. Exactly how the burglars thrived, right after the invention of locks...

Scars Unseen: Quotes aren't absolute either. And the second part is kind of bullshit. We didn't suddenly see an increase in pollution when we passed laws restricting industrial corporations' ability to pollute.

Scars Unseen: The modern take on libertarianism has about the same relationship with reality as Flat Earthers.
Apr 19, 2018 11:13:27 GMT -6
ikai: I am not a "Libertarian"... But i want me art uncensored. Censor had always been a practice of totalitarian and inhumane regimes, such as communism and nazism. Democracy is threatened to be devoured from within, by adopting the very same practices...

Scuttlest: It's a little forum game about clicking on those cracks to collect wall macs. We even have a leaderboard for the feature. I used to be pretty high on it, but then my visiting here got a lot more infrequent and I slid down the list.

Jowy Avilon: Yeah, I thought the "crack" was just a website design feature/easter egg. Wasn't till I accidentally clicked it trying to click a link I got hit with the Wall Mac lol.
