Lately, i 've been reading a lot of stuff, especially reviews, on a new type of shop serving food or drinks, the themed shop. It is said that Japan is full of those, from cafeterias in which you pet hedgehogs (!), to maid cafeterias (waitresses dressed as maids and referring to you as "master"), to the brand new Vampire (!) cafeteria...
What is this? Why don't we "Western Barbarians" get any of that, in our parts? I don't know, i am quite jealous, actually, i always wanted to go in such a place, nya! Has anyone ever experienced a visit in such a place? Don't you people agree we could use this type of facilities in our locale?

I have been to a few, including two different maid cafe chains (Maidreamin and @home cafe), a 'duelling maid cafe' called 'J'eanne D'Arc' (in actuality, 'duel' was just a fancy word for the exorbitant cover charge) and a rabbit cafe.
The maid cafes were a standard cafe - you order food and are waited on by the costumed staff, you also get a polaroid taken with your maid of choice which they decorate for you to keep.
The rabbit cafe on the other hand was a bit different, you paid a cover fee and were able to hold a rabbit of choice in your lap, drinks were self serve (they had water and tea) available.
If you have any other questions I am happy to answer!
I found the website for J'eanne D'Arc -
The decor and costumes were very cool and they had props on hand for use in the polaroid, but unfortunately the staff when I was there spoke no English (not a big deal, but if you are advertising your establishment to foreigners and tourists it would help if you had at least an English menu on hand) and the food was mediocre.
Pure Miriam: I always have ideas for new threads, but i think few people would post on them, for some reason.

Pure Miriam: By the way, general elections on my country today (Brazil). I know this isn't a political forum, but the first place in election polls is a mysoginist, fascist, racist, homophobic stupid pro-dictactorship man...And i'm afraid he can really win

Pure Miriam: (Sorry if there are other brazilians here who support that thug, it is just the truth)

Yän: Ugh, not another one of those. Wishing you guys good luck and smart voters, Pure Miriam. Go vote, everyone!

Pure Miriam: Yeah, thank you Yän. Brazil elections are in two rounds if no candidate achieves 50%+1 vote at the first round. I'm hoping at least we get to second round in president elections so we can try to stop that moron...

Yän: I just looked up more about him and... damn. He sure is one of the worst I've seen yet. Now I'm REALLY wishing you luck, cause if he wins Brazil is gonna have to prepare for some dark, dark times.

Pure Miriam: Yes. It is frightening. We are already on a difficult situation and things can get much worse. I hope we don't get into such a dark future..

Pure Miriam: Well, going to vote. Wish me (and us) luck.

Scuttlest: Eh, take Smash rumors with a grain of salt. Smash rumors just seem to get increasingly random as time goes on.

purifyweirdshard: I hardly take them at all, actually, I just mentioned it in case Mike hadn't heard. I'm already getting it after the Simon/Richter stuff so I haven't been following.

Autumn: Gosh, of all the corporate collaborations that could happen, Netflix and the American Red Cross wasn't one I would have ever expected. It almost makes me wish I lived around Los Angeles.
