The interview can be found here. It actually touched upon a lot of topics including George Kamitani's influences, his past and future projects, what his team likes, etc. However there was that little aside question at the end which I'm sure would catch the attention of people here. I'm sure nothing is actually in the works and they are just "shootin' the shit" but its an interesting hypothetical to ponder.
My personal thoughts is that I think it would be a great idea as long as it was more in vein of a "Classicvania" game. The aesthetics, art, characters, etc. would be amazing but I don't think level design is a strong suit of Vanillaware and I think that would make a good "Metroidvania" game harder for them to create. That and I think "Classicvania" games are under served - even if Bloodstained has a Classic mode.

I'd be down. I usually first think of Platinum (Kamiya has stated his favorite action game is CV1) or From Software when it comes to someone handling Castlevania for Konami, but it could work if like you said they can focus on great visuals and simpler game style. I can't imagine some RPG mechanics wouldn't make it in, so perhaps something more Castlevania 2 instead of full on Igavania?
The question is, do they revive something or make something completely new. There isn't much room in the franchise for another standalone canon entry, and many fans would be upset if Konami/VW now took liberties to take over the storyline and tell for example the 1999 Demon War as they see fit. I would probably only be all right with that if IGA himself was behind it.
So, here are a few possible avenues there I could imagine them doing: A) A re-re-revived Sonia Belmont in Castlevania Resurrection, non-canon, could become its own thing if successful, has a female lead which is a plus for VW, can more or less do whatever they want and not upset many people. Like I said, maybe more CV2-ish in keeping with now VW games usually are B) Castlevania 3 remake. Modern re-interpretations of the 4 playable characters with more attack options, more variety and length of gameplay, different interesting game dynamics depending on partners used/playing Trevor alone. Pretty good balance of brand/game recognition, established good design/music for them to use as necessary and a female character for Kamitami to have (hopefully not too much) fun drawing lol. C) They seem to do best with fantasy medieval settings and multiple characters/multiplayer, so perhaps something in the spirit of a game like Castlevania 3, but instead of a remake, more of a Dragon's Crown/D&D Shadow Over Mystara-ized CV3. 4 players can cooperate at once, including 1-2 new characters...a female "healer" acquaintance of Sypha's and something of a larger/bruiser type tank character, maybe an exaggeratedly large Kamitami axe armor, perhaps golem-ized with Sypha's magic.
Or something completely different, of course...as different as Order of Ecclesia was, maybe. I like the above 3 ideas pretty well, though.
I must say that Vanillaware did a great job despite all of the insanely bad publicity they may have gathered (Dragon's Crown, anyone?). They are extremely strong when it comes to the brawler/beat 'em up genre, but I don't think they'd be ready for a pure, old-school CV game/-vania, which by essence, requires a lot of platforming. They're more into the intense, brutal, combo-at-will action in a medieval setting.
They in sense fit the arcade spirit, not so much the original CV. The latest entries of the series would fit them more... but they're in 3D. In the end, would it work out? I would give them a chance and I am sure they'd produce something very decent, but I feel they would opt for an entry with a radical twist.
Many franchises radically changed their formulas over the decades anyway, so... who knows?

I don't know vanillaware other than dragons crown, which is an amazing game.
To me Castlevania has to have Yamame at this point (thats her name right? I forget), but aside from that, I think Vanillaware has a better shot of doing castlevania justice than konami. Classic, metroidvania, 3d LoI or CoD, don't care. I'd be willing to see em all.
this companies art style is stunning and beautiful to watch in motion, but i wouldn't want them doing character designs, just strictly the graphs and possibly the play style.
This in a nutshell.
Heck, I would go as far as say that while I would definitely want them to come up with ideas for the play style, have another team altogheter handle that. Their games always feel a bit... odd, to me at least. Can't quite put my finger on it, however. Like, for example, if its a pure classic CV, their odd fascination with RPG elements just have to go. They belong somewhere else, and I'm sure they would be better suited for some other genres (for example, a Metroidvania)
Astaroth: no, the tgs demo is the one they played to show off the weapons most likely, and its set in the bell tower

ZeroSbr: If he did say that, there's one day left, which is today. As far as I'm concerned, the first day of the week is Sunday and the last is Saturday.
Sept 23, 2017 9:28:49 GMT -6
Dengojin: The week is already over here, but I'm still waiting : )
Sept 23, 2017 9:57:12 GMT -6
XombieMike: Wow, you're really putting a 7 day timer on his post there. He's currently at TGS in a wacky time zone doing his best. Let's cut him a little slack, eh? I'll mention your expectations to him and refer him to that post.
Sept 23, 2017 10:08:35 GMT -6
Dengojin: This is what I meant by "I'm still waiting". He's probably sleeping by now haha
Sept 23, 2017 10:17:08 GMT -6
XombieMike: Alrighty, I just spoke with Angel, and he wanted to be clear that the flow of news this week IS IGA's presence at TGS, where Bloodstained was nominated for an award and IGA gave out large signed posters and interacted directly with local community.
Sept 23, 2017 11:19:52 GMT -6
XombieMike: There's still one day of TGS left, and they are giving away a Switch to one lucky person.

XombieMike: *looks at Angel online instead of sleeping

Enkeria Gin: TGS = Interviews. These should end up on the internet, which will be somewhat classified as "news" if anything new are revealed. Stay tuned for next week instead guys.
Sept 23, 2017 11:53:52 GMT -6
ZeroSbr: Do interviews really count as news? The BCB answered some previously answered questions, but we mostly got vague answers of "don't worry about it, it'll be great."
Sept 23, 2017 15:01:46 GMT -6
ZeroSbr: That's not to say I don't appreciate the interviews, but I don't believe they're quite on the same level as updates. And the last "update" was incredibly lacking.
Sept 23, 2017 15:02:35 GMT -6
ZeroSbr: We have been told many things since E3 earlier this year, but we haven't been shown anything. I think that's why people are disgruntled.
Sept 23, 2017 15:03:25 GMT -6
Viftech: I can understand that some people get annoyed at the update, but I think that they are saving most of the hype creating material for when they get closer to the release so that people get to feel the hype all at once.
Sept 23, 2017 16:07:05 GMT -6
Enkeria Gin: The hype are spread out over a spectrum of time. We have many months until release. Why give all info Now, and have it fade away during now up until release? Naa.. Wait and see guys. Have many things ahead of us!
Sept 23, 2017 16:19:23 GMT -6
ZeroSbr: Game comes out in less than 6 months if early 2018 is to be believed.
Sept 23, 2017 17:42:32 GMT -6
ZeroSbr: That's not a long time left for game development.
Sept 23, 2017 17:43:07 GMT -6
Galamoth: "H1 2018", to me, means they've got the entire first half of 2018 to decide when to release the game. Counting now, it's essentially 9 months to go.
Sept 23, 2017 22:02:19 GMT -6
XombieMike: 9 months if you consider that it's been said with confidence by IGA many times that Bloodstained will be released in the first half of next year. Super star Japanese VA, the 505 interview and IGA giving away stuff at TGS to fans.
Sept 23, 2017 22:05:08 GMT -6
XombieMike: We were shown plenty of footage of the new E3 demo. A new boss with that. We have constant interaction with the publisher. Can't please everyone though, I guess.
Sept 23, 2017 22:06:35 GMT -6
Enkeria Gin: 9 months. 14 updates. 2 new trailers one of which are in Dec, and the other is the final one. Just a theory.. Ofc.
