There have been several topics talking generally about the castle and design, but i didn't saw anyone dedicated to made up castle areas, so, i decided to create this one. I really don't remember if there was a topic like that before, so, sorry if it had and i'm being redundant. If any mod thinks i'm being redundant, move this elsewhere My idea here is just a discussion and suggestion for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Castle areas. Write an area of the castle you would like to see in the game. I made one below. TIMELESS CORRIDOR Description: As soon as you enter in the area, you can see that it is frozen in time. Corridors and rooms decorated with countless watches, hourglasses, water watches and all other kinds of objects to measure time, and they are all frozen in the same hour (midnight). Windows shows static night clouds in a clouded night. Some openings in the celling made a cold rain falling outside to fall inside, but the water drops are also frozen in place. Enemies are also frozen. Items, chests and anything else can't be picked up at all. Save rooms and teleport rooms doesn't work and any part that has a door can't be entered, because the doors are also frozen in time and, as such, they can't be opened. After a random time of exploring the area, the player is teleported back to the start and all the time the player spent exploring the Timeless Corridor resets (if the game clock was, for instance 1:30:25 when the player entered, and the player was teleported in 1:47:39, the player will be back to 1:30:25). The game clock will be reset back to when the player entered, and the map will be erased again, as if the player never explored the area in the first place. The only way to explore the area is with a Yellow Shard (or maybe a Relic / anything else) equipped that let's the player walk in places where time has stopped (Like Galamoth Soul in Aria of Sorrow). If the player remove the Shard / turn off the relic while exploring, it will be imediatelly teleported back to the beginning, but any exploration and time spent will be intact. By using this, most enemies will finally move and most areas will be open to be explored (including the Boss Door), but not all. There will still be enemies frozen in place and doors that can't be opened. Only after killing the boos, the Timeless Corridor will be fully unlocked and the player will be able to explore it a second time. Boss: Doom Hourglass. A huge, menacing hourglass with demon features that attacks with sand, shots bubbles that can stop Miriam in time (allowing him to hit her) and can summon a small timed Hourglass that, if not destroyed in some seconds, resets the whole battle back to the beginning. Doom Hourglass Shard [Trigger] Time Bubble. Shots a bubble that locks a single target in stasis (the target can't be killed, but it stops in time, not moving and not damaging anyone. It can be used as a plataform to reach higher areas. Some enemies (and all bosses) are immune to this). Here's a good music from a mostly unknown game (that i love) that matches what i thought:
That's all folks!

Since the castle is from hell, I recon there will be a throne somewhere for the devil, not for Gebel, but perhaps something he would make his own.
I hope to see a deep fall, like an Abyss. Just to see the rivers of styx and have all the 9 circles of hell from the writings of Dante. Many would like to see a Incubus (male version of Succubus), but I would love to see both of them in the Lust part of the castle, if there would be any. Greed could be about metal, crystals, coins and chains. Gluttony about food, a floor with blood and bodies floating half-eaten. The circle about anger could be the place for Miriam to actually gain something, a room fit for a bossbattle.
All of those areas could be very small, since they are fused with the castle, and just a minor part of hell itself. Those aspects would be nice to see, or inspiration.
There is also talk about a Village. I find it possible that we, after porting with the ship at the harbor, we cross it. Perhaps having different paths here in late game to go elsewhere except for the castle, like a final battle in the woods or whatnot. I like the woods.
Would also be cool to see a realm of mirrors or crystals, if not a part of an ice / cave area, then perhaps like a portal between places or just a side-quest, making it shine bright and magical.
I am also a sucker for Samurai movies. High grass, swordfights with the moon in the background. Oh man!
My highest request would possibly be a build-up towards some bosses. We see in the E3 demo a small build-up for Vespar. "There is something in the waters!" We know stuff gets wrecked, there are tentacles, and a giant face crashing into the ship and spits out enemies.
I know games like Diablo have minor build-ups, mostly lore and text, but finding a pile of blood (Doom III and beyond) and see that it have been draged in a direction, behind a corner or behind a locked door, makes you wonder - it makes you feel a bit feat as the imagination just grows on you. I always wondered about the lost souls seen in prison-places in late Castlevania games. Are they ghosts? Who are they? Why are they there?
I don't know if pages of lore would be something for this game, but a book with information on each area, monster and npc would be very nice!

I thought we made a poll about locations we'd like to see and submitted it? Either way, the more the merrier when it comes to castle design and locations.
A ghostly theater type location mixed with an opera hall would be something i'd love to see.

Well...yep, I'd say it's the most talked about thing we've had in the forum. Here's the final poll for it (the only topic we had fully officially compiled and submitted as a poll): bloodstainedfanforums.com/thread/926/design-review-poll-castle-miriamsThat said, you can still suggest new area ideas. We've just already sent our ideas to Mana from before after the gather ideas > compile bullets > vote process happened. And well, keep in mind that the actual areas for the game are likely already locked in at this point.

A horrific food processing plant!
This would be an extensive area with, perhaps, a steampunk look to it. Large vats of bubbling blood 'n' guts. Long conveyor belts with naked/skinned bodies ascending and descending to certain machines like formidable meat grinders, lurid liquidizers and gruesome food mixers. Bloodstained tiles/walls. Waste bins overflowing with body parts and clothing. Huge ovens aglow with strange looking pies and shocking cakes. Horrid sausage making machines. Some parts of the floors are slippery with blood and slime. Creepy robotic arms that track and lunge at anyone with unauthorized access to pull them off their feet and deposit them into cages for inevitable slaughter.
The staff consist of morbidly obese/ugly beings that delight in what they do and will fiercely protect the plant. Intruders are captured or murdered and turned into fodder.

How about a luminous underground Cavern, filled with odd glacial formations, large pools of water, and glowing crystal formations? (Sounds like standard Igavania fare, ala SotN, the Sorrow games, and OoE.) A " Cave of Lost Souls", if you will (featuring Michael "Garoad" Kelly's awesome fan-made music). To somewhat differentiate this part of Gebel's Castle from past "underground caves" in Castlevania games, it could be thematically separated into 3 distinct "regions" (or "networks"; as all of these cavern regions connect at a certain point). I'll also have a few Boss ideas. Ancient Cavern, Network Path #1: By taking the upper route just ahead of this area's entrance door, you find yourself in an ice cave, seemingly out of place, left over from an ancient glacier. Several Ice-element demons and other enemies can be found lurking here, and the terrain is (as you might expect) very slippery. Traps in the form of massive ice "stalactites" can drop as you advance, as well as freezing winds that must be evaded, lest they slow your movement or blow you back to the previous room. ^ BOSS: Decarabia (description/see here: Bloodstained Enemy Discussion)Ancient Cavern, Network Path #2: Just before heading into the ice cave proper, drop down from a ledge to an eroded natural hallway with water only foot-high at first. As you move further in, you notice the water levels slowly rising up to knee-high before coming to rooms filled with large underground lakes. Several aquatic demons and even a few Ice-element enemies lurk here. Certain Shards that allow Miriam to move underwater [and be unimpeded by the pressure] are required to explore hidden rooms in this watery area. As you advance deeper in this area, you'll arrive at a split-path. One leads to a large " hot-spring" room, where you could use geysers to reach high up to explore further. The other split leads to a dark abyss, where abilities or items that produce light may be required to traverse the dangerous waters, and to get to the Boss.... ^ BOSS: Abaia ( description) Ancient Cavern, Network Path #3: When dropping down to the eroded hallway, head right to a pitfall instead of left to the lakes. A Shard/Relic for a "wall-jumping" ability can be obtained as you advance in this area, so that you may exit from the pitfall entrance. As you begin to advance in this deepest part of the Caverns, you notice that the area is naturally lit with a warm light. You will eventually end up in a magma cave, where several Fire and Earth-attribute demons wait to ambush the foolish and unwary. Several glowing crystalline formations can be found here, and can be destroyed (perhaps mined for crafting materials as well). ^ BOSS: Crystal Golem ( description) Try this idea on for size!

A room that looks like another planet or place as a whole. One void, where you feel watched. One place that actually makes you feel in the future, or get a glimpse of it. Perhaps in upcoming battles, or a future where we see Mac n Cheese being served at a fancy restaurant for a lord. Another idea is a place with pictures in frames, that are changing everytime you pass them, like a young boy becomes adult, and old and death incarnate. These would not change while watching them, only when you got off-screen. The area would have to be a way for us to backtrack also so we actually get to see them changing. Spooky vibe. Perhaps it could be very close to a room about time and clocks..
