Has anyone else mentioned bladed boots yet? (I guess I'll post the idea again if someone already has) I'd really find it interesting to see an Igavania game go beyond just adding "Bladed Boots" as mere footwear, dealing extra damage when sliding into an enemy or jump/air-kicking. <- (To be fair, I have seen Jonathan of PoR as well as both Shanoa & Albus of OoE use kicking moves outside of jump-kicks before. Carmilla in Judgment fits here too.) The blades in these special boots would have to be seen as retractable in attack animations, depending on where on the boot they're situated. (Wearing boots with blade extensions might make it a bit more difficult to travel) In addition to the weaponized boots, I'd even be fine with seeing Miriam kneeing an enemy ("Knee of Justice!"), or perhaps activating special magic in the stained glass magi-crystals located on her legs. Armed Legs - TVTropes

Weapons can be whatever. One things though, I don't wanna use more sluggish pieces of shit, like I had to use in the DS games. Weapons should be fun to use, not a chore. It's strange that SoTN and Aria of Sorrow came before and weapons were a lot of fun in those games.

Also since it's 1800's maybe flintlock pistol, musket, and blunderbuss. I think it takes place in the 1700's Well the earliest recorded musket and blunderbuss was dated to be around the early 1700's (1717 and 1720 respectively according to the internet) and flintlocks in the mid to late 1700's (earliest recorded being 175o). Keep in mind that those years are when they were standardized by the (British and french) Military at the time, so its entirely possible that they existed earlier than that, so no complaints there. Flintlock pistols can be a rapid fire weapon (Make it something like how Shanoa could theoretically endlessly attack with any weapons but was limited to her mind points or something) and the rest being heavy hitter weapons that are slow. and why stop there? there are many weapons in early ranged warfare that predate guns, like cannons or "fire arrow" rockets. I would be happy and surprised if a miniature version of a Hwacha somehow made it into the game as a weapon. unlikely, but cool as hell

could get around the flintlock pistol speed issue hrough a historical concept combined with a humorous one, give them a 2 hit combo
first button press, she shoots you second button pressed quickly, she throws the gun at you third press, she pulls a pistol from her 'belt' and shoots you again repeat steps 2 and 3
this gives te idea that miriam is carrying multiple pistols (a very real tactic for those who dont have the time to reload), and the humorous one of even superman dodges the gun >P
as for blunderbusses and rifles you could have her use the precursor to shells, a premade flashpaper bag filled with your powder and shot, and then pack it using the rod, this could be done in a fairly quick animation that would balance the power of the weapon with the speed of attacking repeatedly

Historical accuracy in fantasy land? Screw logic. Want a blunderbuss when it wasn't created yet... done. Want a magical liquid sword who' special ability is to release its blade as it floats to the ceiling spreading and raining down in a small aoe, done. The aesthetic is what must match. Dawnbreaker for example did some rather unusual things for its time. it's really just an add summoner, but it LOOKED so badass when you did use it you did not care.
That's the other thing I'm hoping weapon design and the modification system fixes from SotN, cool weapons which end up useless "end game"

Actually blunderbuss came about in the 1600s, theyre essentially early shotguns >P
the ideas i mentioned are simply filler animations to bridge the gap between weapon swings, like the delay that hammers and axes have before the weapon is put away and you are free to swing again, im not talking a huge gap, but enough that there is a delay animation that fits the weapon type and could be implemented in humorous ways, like the blunderbuss shot occasionally leaves a fork stuck in an enemy ^_^

I think it takes place in the 1700's I have no clue so you may be right, and if it is as Astaroth above said blunderbuss is an option. Then again crossbow, longbow, magic missile or repeating crossbow aka. Chu-ke nu. Also as insightguy said portable small cannons like fire lances are an option in a other note man did china have awesome ancient weapons.

I'm just saying I hope there's a semblance of desire to try to make it somewhat fitting to the world they are building. Could you have an enemy drive around in a car in the game? Sure....but it kinda kills the time period completely when you see something like that. Fantasy land is what it is but it's a fantasy land within the realm of the 1700's, it should try to fit somewhat in the time period they chose.

Yeah but my point was more. I don't want the game to have a machine gun in it because that would just feel straight up out of place. It's okay if it stretches the imagination a bit but i don't think it should smack you on the face with things that you know for absolute sure would never be around in this time.

If I could add something it would be scythes/sickles and for a new addition I would add a chain scythe/sickle like the one Ryou uses in Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2. Of course it won't be as comprehensive but I imagine it should have a sort of round range per hit, like it has range on the direction you are pointing like most castlevania weapons but has damage range above your head and on the ground like when you duck and attack. For a catch they should make it slow like the Melio Falcis sickle weapon in Order of Ecclesia. That sort of catch.

My favourite Castlevania weapon is the Vorpal Blade (from SotN). I love how quick and clean the strikes are, and you can even use it while moving! It's not as powerful as the ridiculous Crissaegrim/Valmanway, so it still provides a degree of fun without taking away too much challenge from the game.
On a similar token, I love the Elven Rapier from the Golden Sun series because of its quick Vorpal Slash. I loved the word "Vorpal" before I knew it was from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, which is now one of my favourite books of all time. So I hope a Vorpal weapon will be in Bloodstained, and I hope it will be quick and awesome.

Speaking of the Vorpal Blade, if such a weapon will make a reappearance in Bloodstained...how about a non-cruciform design similar to below? I'd think such a deadly beheading sword, that can potentially break the sound-barrier with how fast it can be, should have a deceptive quality to its appearance.

Deceptive indeed that it doesn't look like it would swing very fast at all haha. It bugs me when swords have those like brass pipe handles...it should really have more of a lenticular shape. Big, round dowel rod grips are okay for like garden tools and stuff, but there's a tang in a sword that needs to be secured and weight is of course an issue. Of course, a properly shaped wire-wrapped grip just looks a lot better, too...just takes more time and craftsmanship than spare pipe handle. Sorryyyyyy ranting about swords again

I'd think such a deadly beheading sword, that can potentially break the sound-barrier with how fast it can be, should have a deceptive quality to its appearance. I'll just use a spoiler to hide these: Perhaps your design idea would be nice with runes: Or perhaps a simpler design would work; I like this one:
But I really like the cruciform design, especially if done right. This one mixes the typical rapier kind of hilt with a double-edged European style blade: And I really love runes, whether Asian, European, or entirely foreign in design: And here's my favourite sword I've ever seen in an image. I found this one about a decade ago. But to achieve something like these in Bloodstained is a bit difficult, so a glowing sword would suffice. ^_^ Or better yet, a Ghostblade, glowing AND transparent:
And that one is a decent mix of both designs we like! I vote we have a Vorpal Spectral Blade of Doom.

Spectral Sword! I like that enemy, btw. I know I've said it elsewhere, but yeah...
That rapier hilt sword is pretty cool. I like fancy European hilts a lot. D: Curse of Darkness had some great classical designs for those.
